Been here two times now, definitely the best sushi in the area. A sweet family-run business. We've been to several high-end sushi restaurants in Boston and Portland, and Elevation is definitely worth a try if you are local or in the area. The quality of the fish is very good. Recommend the Oogie Boogie, Casper, California Betty, yellowtail jalapeño app & sashimi plate options. The Bear roll was great, LOVE the heat, but could use a tad more ponzu (or additional sauce). Would love to see the garlic edamame be coated with a thicker sauce to stick to them a bit more. They have a great sake selection as well. The sauce had so much flavor, but you couldn't really get to it until the end. Would also be delicious with a chili oil addition. We will be back for sure!

The *perfect* blend of Sushi and Tacos! We have eaten here a few times now and have not had a single bad bite. The Octopus Carpaccio (pictured) was unlike any octopus I've had before, and worth a try if it's available. The best 2 things on the menu might just be the Asada Fries and the Sushi Nachos. The fries are cooked perfectly, smothered in carne asada meat, cheese, guac and are highly addictive. The Sushi Nachos are even a cut above that with sashimi over crispy wonton, flavorful sauces, micro greens and red onion. They are perfectly balanced and a must try for Sushi lovers! Everyone is super friendly and the vibe is laid back. Definitely a 5 star joint

Food is very good. Presentation was on point. Overall for the price you can’t go wrong. The only real down fall is the short staffed. That is par for the course for all restaurants. We had sushi and tacos. We tried the chicken, beef, and pork tacos. All was very tasty. The likable salsa that comes with the pork is absolutely delicious. For the sushi it was very tasty as well. The deep fried was definitely a twist. The sauce was a nice touch. Overall if your looking for a very good sushi bar with out wanting to have to drive all the way to Portland I suggest this place. You won’t regret it.

Worst sushi I have ever had… Sushi at the grocery store is better. The staff were the rudest people I have ever met, even down to the chef. The sushi chef was drinking a Corona beer on the job. I would NEVER come back here ever. Food is gross, atmosphere is terrible and staff are so up tight. Cook came out and complained they were the only chef here as if it is our fault? We can tell…. Waiting to get our check so we can leave and never come back. Couldn’t wait to even leave to write this review. Had to send back 4 meals because they you couldn’t even eat them. Ramen and beef teriyaki were disgusting.

Having to edit because the owner keeps changing their response to my review 🤡

EDIT: We had reservations at 6:30. Server didn’t come over for 25+ minutes. Once she did it took an additional 10+ minutes to even our drinks. A good portion of Sushi from the apps and dinner were left on the table and weren’t eaten. Our food took so long that the finally once the waitress handed us the meal she stated “I don’t know what is going on in the kitchen, I had to make this myself”…. How are we supposed to take that? Communication between employees needs to be worked out…. I understand being understaffed and busy but being rude to customers is where it’s unacceptable. Drinking on the job is also totally unacceptable, how do you allow you only sushi chef to open chug beer? That’s so unprofessional. We are understanding people and would have had no issue waiting if employees were kind and the food was actually edible. Not to mention, I know for a fact we weren’t the only table with food issues. The tables directly next to us was complaining of chewy meat and raw food (that wasn’t sushi). Was really looking forward to a nice dinner. 100% not coming back because of the...

It's rare for me to write a bad review of a restaurant- maybe they're slammed that night, a cook called out sick, or something else. But there were just too many bad things here for it to just be a bad night. I had dinner with 5 friends before we went to the Magic Lantern. The service was terrible and slow to respond, even though the small restaurant wasn't even filled. I hate saying this as a former waitress, but the wait staff was standing around chatting while we were waiting for our waitress to introduce herself and take our drink orders. I'm very forgiving of wait staff - it's a hard job and they often get blamed for things that are not their fault (like the quality of the food). But this group didn't seem like they had proper training or supervision. The tacos were tiny - maybe 3 inches wide when laid out flat. The salsa was clearly from a jar. The tortilla chips were those super cheap round ones that they sell at the grocery store. The food took forever and some dishes came out a full 20 minutes before the rest came out. My friends who had the sushi said it was just okay. I'm not a big eater, but the tacos seemed more like an appetizer than an actual meal, and they were not very good. I would have loved to have had another great restaurant in the area, especially for us year-round folks, but this one is definitely not it. I'm surprised they're getting so many good reviews - I will definitely not be...

When we arrived, they informed us that they were out of sushi rice, so they couldn’t make any sushi rolls. Totally fine, and not their fault. There was plenty of other tasty looking dishes on the menu, so we stayed. We were so disappointed! The sushi nachos had a terrible fish/chip ratio. The carne asada tacos were just… wrong. They didn’t have much flavor, and came out cold, despite the rice on the plate being piping hot. The ramen was just okay. I’ve made better ramen in my college dorm room. Quite possibly the worst dish was the chicken teriyaki bowl- a single chicken thigh that was clearly not seasoned or marinated, was baked and placed on a huge bed of rice, and then doused with a watery “teriyaki” sauce. I’m sure the sushi here is great, but unfortunately, I’ll never try it. Based on my first experience, I will never go back. A wise word to anyone coming here for the first time- stick to the sushi! And if they are out of rice, find somewhere...
