Nothing says Maine like Renys. I would not have known about this hidden gem but for the fact that my in-laws have a cabin in Maine. Over the years I have come to appreciate Renys unique bargains and products. The stores are not the same genre as a "Country Store", but a local department store like what "Grants" used to be. That Maine has been able to hold onto this "missing link" in the progression from country store to super department store is both a wonder and a blessing. I absolutely love shopping at renny's, but I had the most bizarre experience today. I went to check out with my 16-year-old daughter advanced up to the register and was told we could not be checked out by the young lady who then I recognized as one of my daughter's friends from elementary school who she no longer associates with. The woman running the register had already told the young lady she could not wait on us because we were friends. She said it's the store policy. I do not believe that to be true. Is this a New policy. I've had lots of friends come and go who have worked there and it's never been a problem . It made all of us uncomfortable especially the young girls.
