Good morning sir or ma'am, I am in the process of checking out of your motel in Calwelll, Texas. We have stayed here 1x before this trip but, will certainly not be returning. Though my expectations were not high, this experience does rate in the top 2 of the worst motels I have stayed at in the last 40years. Now, please, dont get me wrong, if someone wants enough cracks in the walls and shower area that the humidity level remains 100% (clothes left on the counters are wet each morning) and the visit of friendly and not so friendly critters (spiders, earwigs, crickets, grasshoppers and roaches) then this is your place. In fact, had we not deemed it more unsafe to make the wee hours, post TAMU game, drive home than it would be to stay the 2nd night we would have driven. Words of advice to future visitors, one, if left without option and you must, for your own safety, stay here, wear socks at all times, the floors are so wet and dirty, it is a fall risk and health risk otherwise. Second, don't leave specialty monogrammed towels in the room. The dirty ones used for drying things off will remain but the cute one will disappear (hmmm) wonder how that happens. Third, a towel placed under the door does help with the insects that visit from that direction, the shower area visitors, I couldnt rectify that one. Fourth, if you plan to partake in the "breakfast" offered, bring your own milk for the cereal (actually just go to Whataburger or McDonald's, they are close and the apps have good deals. Lastly, when showering think opposite day. Hot is Cold and Cold is Hot, you'll thank me later. Thank you for the time you took to read this. Follow-up, I have tried in person, by phone and email on several occasions (both during and immediately after our stay) to talk to someone in management or ownership without avail. Emails were returned as undeliverable, no one was working the front desk and phone...

When I woke up, I found the AC had blown the curtains open bc they're from the Walmart next door and not made for a hotel. And I don't mean they were open just a tiny bit: there was a 4-6" gap that anyone could have seen my whole room through. I went to go to breakfast, I discovered that my door doesn't latch unless you slam it really hard, so if you just walk away without checking, anyone can get in. Breakfast is where things got gross. The only thing they have is a waffle iron, but the batter has been watered down and it leaks out and the resulting waffle is sticky and undercooked in the middle. If you lift the lid on the syrup dispenser, you can see black gunk around the edges, showing that they don't wash it. The juice dispenser is filled with concentrate, which is standard, but bizarrely, it isn't mixed with water at all, leaving you with a cup of apple syrup. The small cloud of fruit flies buzzing around it make me wonder if this machine ever gets cleaned. I didn't bother to touch the coffee because it's also from concentrate instead of fresh brewed, but I'm sure it was also questionable. I don't understand how you can offer only one item for breakfast alongside two beverages and get all of them so wrong? The final straw came when there was no one at the front desk during the entire time I was in the breakfast room and no one came when I rang for them so I had to leave my key on the desk and move on. I will never...
Read moreStayed recently for the eclipse, and this hotel met our needs. Not sure if it is worth the price since I've stayed in hotels in Nebraska for the same price ($79 w/ tax) that had better breakfast and accommodations. Unfortunately at this time of the year, the hotel front is absolutely infested with large crickets but it is probably due to the surrounding areas being pretty forested so I don't blame them. They're on the grounds and walls and jump everywhere, so they're a bit annoying to walk around.
Rooms: The rooms are clean and the beds were new. No smells or odors. I only saw crickets in the lobby area and not our room which was great.
Unfortunately, it looks like the fire alarm in our room had been broken off like in the photo I attached? This is probably the most concerning part about this hotel.
Also, there was practically no wifi in our room as it was a bit far from the lobby and none of our phones could connect on as the signal was too weak (see screenshot). We were too tired to ask for a room change so be prepared to use wifi in the lobby, or your cellular data in room.
Breakfast: Breakfast is a bit lackluster as it seems most people who stay here do not stay for the breakfast. We were the first ones to eat breakfast, and half the vehicles in the parking lot were already gone by then. I wish eggs were included though. The Texas-shaped waffle is a nice touch!
Other: Finally, the guy accommodating us was very kind and helpful. The area is very quiet and feels relatively safe as well. The rooms use...
