Staff is great, everyone from front desk, to maintenance and everyone in between. My one and only complaint is this. I decided on this hotel bc of the ratings and the pool. I came here with my 4yr to relax and swim bc its his favorite thing to do, we are out of town but being seen by Rileys Children's. Check in was smooth at 3, but we literally had to leave the pool area 4xs bc other guests who have children around 8yrs-older teens were not considerate of others. About 6 rowdy boys came down by themselves banging on the glass trying to get everyone's attention bc they wanted us to let them in. Everyone inside agreed nobody wanted to be responsible for them. Then 2 adults showed up with 5 more kids, then a few more parents and several more children. I dont mind being around kids but the lack of parenting and consideration for others was nonexistent. The parents all gathered outside talking while they let their kids run lose. They were running around the pool, jumping in in every area, diving in 3ft deep areas, screaming, belly flopping next to adults reading and toddlers. Many people who were reading, relaxing and trying to spend time with their loved ones left. So did I, especially when they were being so rough. There was literally only 1 parent watching her son and making him mind, the rest couldn't even have eyes on them from outside. They were rough housing, screaming, throw water, jumping over little kids, and bumping into them while chasing others. We decided to leave and come back during dinner in hopes they would be gone for dinner. NOPE. They participated in the snack bar downstairs so they made their plates and brought it into the pool area. There's was literally an older gentleman in the hot tub and here come 6 little girls ages 3-10 going in there playing and splashing and swimming in it like its a pool. We then left that area as well. Im so disappointed that I am going to leave a day early. These kids are only doing what their parent allow them to bc its so disrespectful. We went down and tried several times only to be faced with the same 20 people doing the samething. At 1 point, the parent were too busy eating and drinking in the lobby they let the kids run free. Anyway, today is very disappointing day and hopefully I can find another hotel that will help enforce some of the rules in that area so everyone can...
Read moreSept. 11th night stay. We love all Drury Hotels, but this location in Carmel/Indianapolis was the nicest one we've stayed in. Outstanding staff. The pool was so nice, it looked brand new and was nice and warm, we checked it with a digital thermometer and it was 84.7 degrees, and the jacuzzi was the largest and hottest we've been in, 104.7 with the digital thermometer. Plenty of towels. Great workout room. Free food at dinner time, free bar drinks, and free full hot breakfast ! The manager even walked around making sure everyone and everything was ok. 10 stars !!
EDIT : I need to lower the rating. Because of our previous experience we wanted to stay here on our way home on Sept. 15th The pool and jacuzzi were significantly cooler than 4 days ago. Checked with the same digital thermometer, pool, 81, jacuzzi 99., 4 and 5 degrees cooler respectively. No biggie until I notified Staff of this and proceded to the pool area. Jen called maintenance person Will (here's the problem) who was clearly annoyed when he came to the pool area about 5 minutes later. He walked past me, said nothing, so I said I was the one who asked about the temperature and that the jacuzzi was at 99 today and was over 104 4 days ago. He barked at me that " 104 is too hot!". He put a thermometer an inch in the water, gave me a look and said "it's 102 !". I went over with the digital therm. and scanned the water and said it reads 99. He said, again in an angry way that "I was only reading the surface". It read over 104 on the surface the other day with the digital thermometer. I wasn't going to get into that discussion with an angry guy. He never checked the pool temperature and walked away without ever saying sorry, is everything ok, anything else I could help with, or anything that a service person might, If they had customer satisfaction skills might have said. Maybe 104 is too hot, and the pool should be 82 as Jen said and not nearly 85 but it soured our experience slightly. Everything else was great as before, our room, dinner and breakfast. We are still a big fan of...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay and felt it was a good price for what you get - full breakfast, dinner, snacks, and drinks included. We had a 2-room suite, which was clean and comfortable. The main room was the main bed, yet there was a smaller room with a door that had a pull out couch, TV, sink, microwave, and mini fridge. Most hotels I've been in, it's opposite- the couch is in the main space and the bed is in a separate room. I actually didn't mind the way it was set up as our little one had her own space, and felt pretty special. All of the windows had blackout curtains - we had no issues with lights (8th floor).
The food: the dinners weren't bad, we had one out of two dinners, only because they didn't offer much for one of us in our party on the second night. The breakfast would have been great if the food was hot, or even warm... both mornings the food was cold. The only part that was good were the biscuits.
We got 3 drinks per adult on the room per night. They were fine. Not great, yet not bad.
The pool is an indoor/outdoor pool. While they say it is "heated", it can only be so warm as half the pool is exposed to the outdoors. There is a garagedoor that separates the spaces. Therfore, if it is 40 degrees outside (like it was when we visited), the indoor air was super warm, yet the pool was chilly. We still swam and had fun, yet know the pool may be chilly if it is colder outside. There is a hot tub that is warm, yet our second night it was pretty dirty, so we skipped it.
Location: it was a good 20-30 minutes from the zoo and children's museum. We booked this hotel as it wasn't too far away, but it had so many perks to help us save some money, which we did.
Service: we didn't need much during our stay, but when we checked in the front desk were super friendly, and all of the staff we interacted with at meal times were also friendly.
Solid 4/5, mainly because of the cold breakfast (2 days in a row) and cleanliness of the hot tub. Some aspects of the breakfast were...
