We had a wonderful stay at this brand new property! The Element Hotel is actually the right half of a new building that has the Tallison Hotel on the left. (The Tallison is on the highway side.) One of the great things about both properties is that all guests can enjoy the Tallison's fancy bar and the relaxing common patio area out back (including the natural gas fire pits). The Element side also includes the indoor swimming pool, the washing machines for guest use (I peeked inside - very clean!), the gym with all new equipment, and the light and airy breakfast area with lovely high ceilings. Breakfast options included omelets made by request, yogurt, cereal and bagels. My family loved all the breakfast options! There's also a little shop in the lobby where you can purchase foods including frozen foods you can cook in your room.||We stayed in rooms 3015 and 3017 at the end of May 2025. I can definitely recommend these rooms. The rooms were one-bedroom suites with a good size kitchen area and a small, nondescript living room. (We also saw what the studio king room looked like. It had a smaller kitchen but was a pleasing room nonetheless. The advantage of the one-bedroom room is there were two closets which we needed with our two guests. Otherwise, both rooms lacked drawer space.) The decor in both styles of room was a little bland - white walls with no color in the minimal wall art, a minimalist, tiny shelf beside the bed instead of a dresser. Kind of a spartan, IKEA-like decor. A little bit of color in the room like a green plant, feature wall of color or framed art with a nature theme would have made the rooms feel a bit warmer. Also, the barn door that closed the bedroom off from the other areas did not adequately block out sound if one of your party was watching TV in the tiny living room. However, we loved the large refrigerator/freezer and all of the kitchen cabinets which came equipped with paper towels, pots, pans, plates, glasses and a dishwasher to wash them all in.||Water pressure was great, blackout curtains worked well and there were no flashing smoke detector lights as other reviewers had reported. Our room was incredibly quiet and we appreciated the option of two levels of the room fan to block out any noise. We did not hear any highway traffic or hallway noise. However, since there was lobby music outside the elevator on each of the six hotel floors and the elevator made a loud "ding" sound each time it opened, I would imagine that if you were in a room just outside the elevator you might hear some of this noise. However, our rooms were blissfully quiet! Also, of equal importance - the rooms were impeccably clean (and I am tremendously picky about this). The housekeeping team cleaned the rooms every other day and did an amazing job! ||A minor observation - the finishes of the hotel were not perfect with unevenness in the concrete pour that led to some hallway floors and the stairwells being not quite level. (Perhaps the fault of the low bidder!) ||The neighborhood is very safe and well landscaped. Also, you are only five minutes away from Carmel restaurants and shops. An excellent location!||The best thing about the hotel was the amazingly friendly staff at the front desks at both properties! They truly wish to help make sure your stay is a happy one and they go above and beyond to assist. They take pride in welcoming you and helping you with anything you might need. I cannot say enough about their genuine hospitality. I wish I could remember everyone's names, but Habibe and Andrea were some of the incredible, amazing staff members that provided a Four Seasons level of customer service. Such a happy, friendly and talented team that lifted our spirits and made us feel special and valued! They were all wonderful!||I can wholeheartedly recommend this new hotel for its quiet, clean rooms, the impressive, large outdoor patio area, the lovely Tallison bar and the dedication of its very caring staff members. It was a relaxing stay and I definitely plan to...
Read moreTLDR: great staff, muddled concept and still working out the kinks. Better options nearby especially at full rates. Is more limited service than I expected. ||Review: Staying at the Element right now on a regular visit to nearby family. Have been here three nights already and will check out tomorrow. ||Staff have been uniformly friendly and upbeat - maybe a bit too much, as Management is clearly hovering around all the time. Hopefully people will become more comfortable and confident in their roles with time and won't need to exude Disney-level cheerfulness. ||Room is great - received a room facing away from the highway, although I suspect the windows are so well insulated the road noise wouldn't be too noticeable on the other wide. As for any element hotel, there's a well planned kitchenette with mini-fridge, sink (filtered water dispenser) and incredibly tiny microwave in the room. Dishes and silverware for two in my King-bed room. nice closet space, although a ding for not having a luggage rack and no obvious piece of furniture to put your suitcase on top of. Odd small square chair/sofa pushed into the corner as an afterthought - not comfortable and not able to place in a location that was useful. ||Building is brand new - i think the Element has been open six months now (?) and the attached Tribute Collection hotel literally opened a week ago. PSA: there is absolutely no signage to indicate which entrance is for which hotel (!!). The porte-cochere entrance is for the Tribute Collection, and the smaller entrance is for the Element. You're welcome. ||Lobby is large and spacious with lots of seating for breakfast and lounge areas for laptop working or socializing during the day. ||Mini-market with a small selection of food, snacks and drinks including wine cocktails and beer, but no travel sundries - I forgot tooth floss and they didn't have any for sale. That's a miss for a hotel not to have the usual travel conveniences and OTC medications. ||Great gym, although no windows. Also indoor pool but did not use. ||Negatives: My room has not been serviced the entire time I'm here and no, I have not left the "DND" tag outside. I was able to find a housekeeper in the hallway and get some fresh towels but for a hotel not to provide any cleaning should be clearly discussed at checkin. ||The lack of way-finding signage mentioned above. ||The Element does not have a bar or restaurant. My only other experience at an Element the hotel did and it was very well executed. You can go over to the attached Tribute Collection and use their (very nice, upscale) bar/restaurant but you can't sign the bill to your Element room. ||The brand seems to imply that it is "healthy" and "natural" but (as an example) the breakfast selections were sugary cereals, no cooked oatmeal only packets of "instant" oatmeal with added sugar and chemicals. They were lacking yogurt in the yogurt stand one morning. No sliced fruit, only apples and bananas. Also, no recycling or composting options in the lobby or other public spaces. ||I was staying on a reduced rate, but for the full price of the hotel you could stay at one of the other Marriott-family hotels nearby and have full services, housekeeping, bar/restaurant, etc. ||I like the style/design of the Carmel Element, the staff are all great, but the execution leaves something...
Read moreOur family recently had an extended stay at The Element Hotel in Carmel due to an unexpected home flooding situation, and I can honestly say we could not have asked for a better place to land during a difficult time. What started as a necessity turned into a warm, welcoming, and even joyful experience that we’ll never forget.||We stayed for nearly four weeks with our two young daughters, and from day one, the entire staff made us feel like family. From the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast staff—everyone went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and cared for. Special shoutouts to Andrea, who was always a bright and cheerful presence; Tarryn, who consistently made sure we had everything we needed; and Hamid, the manager, whose kindness and attentiveness made a real difference. Their warmth made a hard time feel lighter.||Let’s talk about the breakfast—a daily highlight. Freshly prepared omelets, delicious yogurt, and a wide variety of options were always available. It wasn’t a common thing but one morning, we even had the option for a delicious French toast. The breakfast area was clean, bright, and inviting. The chef even brought our omelet plates directly to us, which was such a thoughtful touch. It truly felt like a personal experience each morning.||The indoor pool was a major hit with our girls—we went swimming every other day and it became a part of our routine. The outdoor social space was another favorite, offering a relaxed and cozy area to hang out with friends and let the kids play.||During our stay, we experienced three different room types:|The standard king room was great for a solo traveler or couple. It had a nice kitchenette and a full-sized fridge, but with the sofa bed pulled out for the kids, the living space felt tight. Still a great option, just not ideal for a family.|The executive one-bedroom suite was a major step up in space and layout. Even with the sofa bed open, there was ample room for the kids to move around. The larger kitchen and open bedroom area gave us all room to breathe—and for the girls to play.|The standout for us was the Commons one-bedroom suite. This space was beyond perfect for a family. It had a full kitchen (including oven and large fridge), dining table, sectional sofa bed, bar seating for six, and tons of room. The attached bedroom also included another fridge and microwave, plus a desk. We never felt cramped here, and the setup gave us a real sense of normalcy and routine.|When it finally came time to check out, our daughters were genuinely sad to leave—and honestly, we were too. The Element truly became a home away from home. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, especially for families or anyone needing an extended stay. The combination of thoughtful design, incredible staff, and family-friendly amenities made all the difference during a challenging time for us.||Thank you, Element Carmel, for everything. We’ll always...
