We so don't like to write negative reviews AT ALL. Especially when it comes to Mom/Pop businesses who are just trying to make their businesses work. But Just thought it important to note a few things about this hotel for traveling families. First, the area is sketchy; felt unsafe to have our children there - or even just us for that matter. |Secondly, even though the East Indian, elderly owners seem like nice people (the husband especially - smiled often); they seem of persasion that they are 'allowing' you as the customer to stay there but they are not there to serve you. When we checked in, the owners said they didn't have the type of room we booked so they had to give us a more expensive upgraded room that had a jacuzzi tub - but said to NOT use the jacuzzi. We've NEVER had a hotel/motel give you an upgrade but then tell you not to use the room amenities. To us that was penny-pinching, poor customer service. |Also, later on on, aroun 10 pm, we arrived back at the hotel and needed additional bedding items. The owner (wife) came to the window (barefoot) and said housekeeping was no longer there so they couldn't help us. And said, (as she they handed me an blanket from their own room), that she would charge me extra for that. Seems good customer service would NEVER say that. (I must add that we ended up having more people in our room than we stated when we booked the room. But was very upfront about that before we officially checked in and signed our receipt, and she agreed to it. Any 'threats' of extra charges should have been stated upfront at check-in.|Lastly, the windows have bars on them and look out at a rundown alley. |Funny thing is, we paid more for this hotel than others that we stayed in on our vacation in Cali. It was truly the hotel (and the area in CA) we liked the least. Starting to think the reviews complimenting these folks are bogus & fake because the rooms are definitely not decent or up to par for what they charge and they definitely ARE NOT deposit worthy! The towels are completely dingy and disgusting like they’ve been recycling the same towels for 10 years and will give you trouble about using them and what you use them for. They harassed about check out time even opening the door unannounced! They refused to cater to me having a disability and gave me so much trouble and games about reserving a room downstairs! Both beds were so hard it caused me a lot of pain and the linen smelled like old stale wet feet!!! Most people the come there on the weekends are there to get it on an otherwise they have no real business. They allow other guest to sit in parking lot drinking and the furniture ALL OF THE FURNITURE in the rooms are filthy and disgusting. The water in majority of the rooms smell like sewage and shower curtains have mold/mildew at bottom! Everything needs upgrading they don’t put the money they collect into the condition of the rooms trash…sits built up by the stairwell. They also retaliate against folks who tell the truth and file a complaint they then deliberately try and play games about their janky rooms! They should NOT be a part of Choice Rewards!!! Read moreThe " Gentleman" desk clerk was very professional, friendly and engaged with the customer by eye contact , conversation and concern ! The first room pillow cases where likely overlooked by the cleaning staff, but the rest was very clean, fresh and up to my standards to be in a room 4-5 days. I expressed my concern and was immediately put in a room next door, which supported my theory of a minor oversight by the cleaning staff. Both rooms were exceptionally cleaner and well maintained for a budget level property, let alone better than some supposedly higher priced 3-4 star properties. The room was large with two sinks, an exhaust fan in the bathroom, plenty of clean towel sets, a nice sized flat screen HBO/Cable/TV and excellent WiFi signal. I have sinus allergies and the carpet was vacuumed and room dust free. I don't ask or expect much if I'm even in a motel/hotel room for 1 day, but basic TV, Very good WiFi and cleanliness for they are a must at any place. But if the owners and staff are rude, I will let them know, tell others and take my business elsewhere. On checking out the " lady " clerk was putting breakfast away, and although it was appx. 15 mins. past the dining time, still kindly offered me what was packed away in view and very friendly about it. Good Customer Service is key to repeat business and this place is on my list when I return to Carson CA to visit family...
