Located in the heart of Chester Vt. The Chester Inn has at least that going for it.
Our stay started with a leaking air conditioner, dripping into a bucket loudly all night. Prior to arrival this issue was mentioned, but we figured it was repaired.....it was not! The room, The Honeymoon Suite, was clean but lacked a comfortable bed. The mattress was hard, worn, and quite frankly had us waking up [when we did kinda sleep] sore.
The inn rep. did let us use the room across the way, due to a cancelation, to sleep in the second night. If not for that cancelation we would have had a second night if misery.
In the a.m. there was nothing offered for snacks/food. No bagels, fruit, cereal, nothing. This is not very inn like and the cost is minimal. The icing on the cake was a sign posted above the trash in the kitchen which stated when it is full please bring out to the dumpster. Are we kidding here at 150.00+ a night?
The inn keeper, im guessing this was the person who only texted/called, offered no refund for the first night of misery nor any other type of offer/discount. There was never an in person visit the entire time.
Overall this is a good place to scroll by or drive by. Not worth the rates that are charged and probably sold or out of business by...
Read morenote that there are new owners, so all reviews prior to this do not apply to the new owners (complaints about service in past reviews). not sure I'd stay here longer than one night, as it was directly on main street in the center of town, and a little busy for me. great for one night. the place is clean, furnishings nice, and new owners were helpful. I did not stay long enough to make a judgement about the overall service,. the only concern I had was the fact that this place is directly on Main Street, which is a major truck and commuter route and the trucks started rolling at 4:30AM. Prior to that it was dead silent between the hours of 8pm-4am. Also the house is occupied by a few long term residents, so it did not have that cozy comfort touristy vacation feel to it. Overall, highly recommend for 1-2 night stay if you are here for touring and not hanging...
Read moreThe inn itself is beautiful and well maintained. Unfortunately, I was present for an experience that will prevent me from returning to Chester House Inn. At check-in, I heard another guest ask the innkeeper if he (the guest) could bring breakfast from the breakfast room to his guest room as his wife has a chronic illness that would prevent her from coming to the breakfast room in the morning. The innkeeper first said no, then said that he could bring her "coffee and a muffin." I was disgusted that the innkeeper would treat a disabled guest so poorly. This innkeeper either needs a new attitude or a new job. (My stay was in early...
