I wish I could give this wonderful Marriott ten stars!
My retired husband and I are driving across the country, in and around various states, experiencing many types of hotels, Airbnb‘s, road stops, rest stops, pit stops and people.
We originally stuck with Airbnb‘s, then found them to be too restrictive for our journey when it came to check in, check out and cancellations. Moreover, Airbnb fees, taxes, extra charges and host’s cleaning options in some cases doubled our prices (and we were asked on at least one occasion to do the cleaning because the cleaning lady couldn’t make it, which made me wonder who had come before us…).
We then decided to stick to Hilton brands and thought we would be safe. No can-do. The Hilton Home2Suites in Salt Lake City was so filthy that after a late check-in with no real other option, we slept in our clothes with towels on the pillows and tried not to breathe (not a good night’s sleep…).
This particular Town Suites in Cheyenne was our next stop after Salt Lake City, and what an absolute breath of fresh air! Not only were the public spaces (reception, entryway, dining area, gym) impeccably clean and inviting, but the room was so fresh, modern, bright, clean and comfortable that we extended our stay from one night to three! The kitchenette was VERY clean and accommodating, just like what I expect at home. Thank you, Cheyenne, WY, because my husband and I are not teenagers, and this stop really allowed us to relax and recharge our batteries.
Oh, and the staff!! Do they teach these people manners, courtesy and humanness in some kind of Marriott employee course? No one was on their cell phone or searching the Internet in hidden corners, Bowden Hill at the reception desk was a dream to work with when it came to listening, understanding our needs and literally the horror of the Hilton stay (thanks “Bo”!), the dining workers (helpful Lothar was so hospitable) and wonderful cleaning staff (thank you all SO MUCH, please realize how valued your work is and how much we appreciate it!)
Overall, I’d say this particular Marriott property has converted us over to Marriott for the rest of our trip; we sure hope that our upcoming stops will match the high standards of Marriott Town Suites in Cheyenne (are you listening, Omaha…?).
Thank you all for a wonderful, restful stay that we...
Read moreOur room was nice and quiet. Never heard our "neighbors" until morning when there was some stomping in the room above us. The deal breaker for us was their continental breakfast. For the price of the room and the Marriott reputation we expected better than what was offered for breakfast. We had breakfast at 6:45am. The coffee is awful. We're familiar with the taste of water from a water softener and drinking it in the room as well as the breakfast coffee had that familiar water softener taste which is horrible. We'd joked in our room that the taste of the tap water was why they had Fuji water bottles in the room with a $5/bottle price on them. The juice was very watered down, to the point it was basically water with a very slight amount of orange flavor. The hot food items were basically none existent with heated servers 1/4 full and 3/4 of the bottoms were clean indicating they'd never had much in them to begin with. There was 1 biscuit and no sign of any gravy, 4 slices of Canadian bacon, and 3 sausage patties that looked like they'd been boiled in water to heat them. We passed on those and went for waffles. The syrup dispenser barely dribbled syrup out. There was 1 employee working the breakfast area. She was quiet and friendly, but moved extremely slow. Watching her restock the hot food containers confirmed that the meager hot food portions were the standard supplied as she'd walk out with a plate with a few items to "restock" each, so the amount of biscuits, bacon, and sausage offered never really improved. The trash cans filled while we ate and customers were having to push their trash down into the cans. As we were leaving, the employee was struggling to remove the first over stuffed trash bag. We have to travel about 250 miles from our home in Wyoming for doctors appointments in Cheyenne ever 6-8 weeks and book with price, cleanliness, and continental breakfast in mind. We gave this hotel a try because of the Marriott reputation and the fact that it also offered a kitchenette and table in the room so we could have dinner in the room. We won't book with this location again and this experience will make us think twice about booking with...
Read moreAfter telling 30+ people this was a great place to stay I am rating this stay 1 star.
To start I went to use my microwave and there was a steak and potato left in there with black mold growing. I took it out and placed it near the housekeeping door, washed my hands and went downstairs. Front desk treated me like it was an inconvenience for them. I came back up and the plate was now directly in front of my door… The house keepers were very nice and apologetic and remarked several times they would be really upset but I didn’t mind (besides the front desk handling) because stuff happens…
Next day I was gone from 7:40-5:00 and never received house keeping. When I told this to the front desk they asked me if I had a do not disturb card on my door in a way boarding on calling me an idiot… then told me I wasn’t due for two days… Body wash was never refilled but I did receive housekeeping the next day (choosing to refuse on my final day).
The final night I used the oven and it smoked out the entire room… had to turn it off wait for it to cool to clean the element.
My entire room shook every time house keeping did laundry. I don’t mean vibrates, I mean my computer on the desk on the opposite walls screen was visually shaking like Godzilla was tap dancing towards the hotel.
I understand things happen but I felt the entire stay was one thing after another. Even now checking out all the coffee is completely empty, not a big deal on its own but compounded I am very unhappy. I am suppose to be back here in 10 days and I was aiming to get back to Marriott Platinum or Titanium this year but I will see if it’s too late to seek other...
