Starting with the good-good coffee, much better than most inexpensive places. Prices are reasonable, good pancakes that come out to a nice crispy edge instead of having a fluffy sidewall. Food was good size and arrived hot. Service was completely disorganized, some of the worst I ever had. I waited 25 minutes after being sat before I went to the kitchen to order. The place is the size of a generous size living room and I could see at least one and often as many as three employees at all times. They are really good at avoiding eye contact. The place was only about 3/4 full. My food arrived before my coffee, about 15 minutes later. Chicken fried steak was the typical frozen one you get most places, potatoes and sausage gravy were fine. When my drinks finally arrived I got a large OJ I didn't order. During my long time to watch things happen, more than half the tables in the place got food delivered they didn't order and often the waitress was just calling out what they had and asked who it belonged to. And the tables are clearly numbered. The misdelivered food was just picked up off one table and delivered to another. The best part may be the atmosphere. There was a guy at the counter who appeared to be pretty impaired for 9 AM. They can be pretty entertaining in a bar after 2000, but not at breakfast. He was yelling curses into his phone, cursing out loud to the employees he seemed to know and badgering customers to engage with him. Megaphone mouth the whole time. Staff said nothing except to engage with him. When the waitress went to greet the table near me she dropped an F-bomb as well as "sh#t" and did not appear to know the customers. They appeared surprised. Cursing could be heard from the kitchen at times too. Again, fine for a bar at night but not at a diner for...
Read moreThis is a hard review to write. The place itself is fantastic. Great vibe and some of the train paintings are stunning.
The food… easily the best breakfast I’ve had in Cheyenne so far. I had the Union Bell, homemade biscuits, a fresh sausage patty, and homemade gravy. It was beautiful, as was my husbands smothered burrito.
But here’s where my complaint lies.. when we were greeted at the door the hosts didn’t know the order of which server gets the next table. Totally normal, I get that. But it seemed like the server that spoke up and ended up taking us was clearly over already sat and it showed. The service was terrible, there’s no polite way to say it. I’ve never felt so forgotten as a customer. I should have spoken up, but it’s really not the type of person I am. I politely tried making eye contact and was clearly being avoided for a refill after you had said multiple times you would bring it.
Finally… you literally TOSSED the check on our table and when my husband spoke up to ask for a cinnamon roll you rolled your eyes.
Why is making more money on a ticket so exhausting?!
We were nothing but polite, used our manners and our please and thank You’s more than enough times and you still treated us like garbage, for what reason?
If you were overly busy, you shouldn’t have taken our table, especially since you took it out of turn on the rotation. For the first time in my adult life, I tipped 10%. My husband and I ALWAYS start at 25% for the low end of our tipping… but I was that offended that I couldn’t bring myself to give anymore than that.
I loved the food. It was over the top amazing, but I feel so personally offended that it’s probably going to be a pick-up only place from now on.

Read moreThe food is absolutely good. This was only the second time I have been here. Once per trip, since I found this great location. This time I had the Caboose which was chicken fried steak, luxury potatoes and scrambled eggs with toast. I went a little overboard and also ordered a side of bacon. The chicken-fried steak was extremely good, and the gravy was very thick. This is why I normally order gravy on the side, to keep the steak coating nice and crispy. The steak was flavorful, and quite tender. The luxury potatoes with green peppers were extremely good. The gravy is thick but it is the same gravy they use for their biscuits and gravy so it is a sausage gravy. My wife had the spicy burrito and she seem to enjoy it tremendously. Her burrito have plenty of chorizo in it and enough space to make her happy. If I had known about this location when I lived in the area, I would have eaten here every week. It is a Hidden Gem and worth trying out.
09/24/22 - we both has the Caboose (Chicken fried steak, luxury potatoes and eggs). You can get the gravy all over or as I get it (on the side).
09/24/23 - We were informed that on Sundays they do not do any substitutions. My wife had the biscuit and gravy breakfast I had the Big Boy Burrito.
10/03/24 - The menu has changed since our last visit. I tried the Union Bell, which was delicious. It consisted of a split biscuit topped with sausage, a poached egg, and sausage gravy. I would suggest adding a potato to the dish if it is available. The service was more than satisfactory, and the train ambiance was the main reason we...
