I have mixed feelings about the hotel in general. Let's get the bad stuff over with. The location was good until morning when it was time to check out. Making a left turn onto the street was a total nightmare, and I wasn't able to do it. The front desk staff initially didn't even bother with the seed that I had checked in online prior to arriving. They charged a hundred dollar deposit on arrival, which they didn't disclose ahead of time. She wanted a physical copy of my I.D, which I said she could not have. I had already given them a picture of it at pre check in online.
The room had too many flaws for my liking but it was after 11 pm when I got there.I just wanted to get some sleep. The curtains weren't installed correctly. Part of the security lock on the inside of the door. was missing. The rubber piece that the door would hit when opend was pressed into the wall. The clock would not set because the battery compartment was empty and missing the battery door.
What did I like about the hotel? The room was decorated nicely and had more than enough plug outlets if I had needed them. The bed was comfortable which surprised me because most hotel beds aren't had a lower price point. The bathroom was accessible as per the website with grab bars in the right places. It had a roll in shower as promised with a handheld wand. It had small bars of soap instead of body wash, which I wasn't being too picky about at the time. There were more than enough towels and washcloths available for my needs. Since I got up early, the hot water was plentiful. The only thing about the bathroom I wasn't too thrilled with the track along the bottom of the shower because it looked like it wasn't being maintained properly.
A hot breakfast was included with the price of the room. They had the usual hotel style waffle maker, which was a plus. They also had scrambled egg patties with sausage links. In addition to cold cereals, bagels, toast and danish. They had a nice choices of coffee and juice. Breakfast was most enjoyable.
Checkout was quick and easy, although I did it in person.Instead of doing it online.
Even with the good things about the hotel, it only gets a two star rating because of the flaws with the room. I'm going to chalk this up to lack of training of housekeeping staff on reporting issues to management in a timely manner. I'm also going to blame this on improper management, not being willing to fix needed defects if or when reported by housekeeping staff. This seems to be a common occurrence among Choice Hotel properties. That's why I have been staying at Wyndham properties for the past 9 months.
I would have chosen a Wyndham location but I couldn't find any with accessible rooms when I booked it at the...
Read moreI’ve stayed at this location a few times years ago for events, with no issue. This past weekend my boyfriend and I booked a room. We checked in around 8PM. Everything was fine until around 2AM, the next door neighbors started blaring music. It was a Saturday so we tried to give them some grace. It stopped after awhile so we thought everything would be okay. Shortly after, they start screaming at one another loudly. It kept going on so my boyfriend decided to go to the front desk. He explained how I didn’t feel safe (as it was happening right next door to us) and that we would be checking out. The woman at the front desk was very nice and apologetic. My boyfriend asked for a refund and was told to call back the next morning to talk to the manager and that she’d leave her a note too. We then proceeded to take the 30 minute drive home, feeling like we’d be able to be helped out in the morning. My boyfriend called multiple times and no one even answered the phone. He then proceeded to call Priceline, who we booked through. They need confirmation from the hotel so they also tried calling, with no answer. Later he tried the hotel back, no answer. He called corporate La Quinta; they also tried to help call the hotel and no answer. This took up almost all of our day. We eventually decided to go on with our day as we had errands to run. We were out close to the hotel so decided to stop in and see what was going on. We pulled into the parking lot and noticed no cars were even in the parking lot. The woman at the front desk told us she could not help us as she was not the manager. We explained how we and the other companies had tried calling the building and there was no answer. She then lied to us and said there was a power outage; I have family that live near by so I know that wasn’t true. We were told to try calling AGAIN the following day to get a hold of the manager, who we were also told was in and out of the building and “I’m not really sure what time she will be in/leaving.” At this point it’s just a frustrating experience trying to deal with getting a refund. We were also told that we should’ve called down to the front desk and the arguing couple would’ve been removed. Which, since they were screaming at one another, I don’t know how that would’ve been a safe option. I don’t know how they would’ve reacted to their neighbors complaining about the noise. We figured we’d just drive home the 30 minutes so at least we were safe. I’m not blaming the hotel for the loud guests, but they could and should, be handling the situation a lot better. Still dealing with trying to get this handled. Definitely will not be booking to...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for a weekend in the Buffalo area where we were a little bit all over the place. The final features for choosing this hotel over others were the breakfast which was included and the pool. The positives with this site is that the rooms were absolutely beautiful! The beds and pillows were fantastic, the rooms were very spacious, and the bathroom was absolutely perfect. The customer service from every single employee that we interacted with was absolutely brutal. Each employee gave a vibe that they hated the fact that woke up that morning and were at work at that moment. We felt, even simple friendliness was abandoned as nobody smiled or even greeted you. The breakfast buffet was nothing short of terrible. The first is that on a weekend it is done by 9 AM. My daughter and I arrived the first morning around 8:30am to find just about nothing on the buffet, except for cereal and waffles. There was not even coffee. Our solution was to wake up even earlier the day after and it was not any better. When eggs finally came out, they were ice cold. There was zero fruit available and the staff there both days were nothing short of miserable. The gym clearly, had not had any housekeeping attention in sometime. The rollout mat to do sit ups on was full of odour and covered in mold. The television was broken, and the water cooler though was plugged in dispensed, warm water. Speaking of housekeeping, the rooms did not receive any housekeeping we were not told that that was protocol, but still not thrilled that we did not receive it. Remember, I ended up choosing this hotel over others for the breakfast buffet, which was an absolute fail, and the pool. Upon check-in, we were told that the pool was closed. This was not indicated anywhere on their website as the front desk lady casually mentioned it without an apology. We went to have a quick peek at the pool anyways because it did look wonderful in the pictures. Any other time I’ve been at a hotel when the pool has been closed it’s been pretty evident as it is usually under construction and the pool itself is drained. The pool in this case looked absolutely perfect. My guess? The fact that the rest of the hotel was dirty and clearly the staff did not have any pride in where they worked, I think the pool was closed because nobody wanted to clean it. I would never choose to stay in a La Quinta hotel ever again. I would suggest that you read all of the reviews and steer clear if customer service, an included breakfast, and a working pool or something you were...
