I recently had the opportunity to stay at this hotel during my visit to the area. While the overall experience was a blend of positives and negatives, there were some notable aspects worth mentioning.
Firstly, the room I stayed in had an unfortunate issue with a blocked window that featured the property's signage. This led to an unwanted glow permeating the room, which in turn made it somewhat challenging to achieve a restful night's sleep. Additionally, the absence of an exhaust fan in the bathroom was quite noticeable, potentially leading to discomfort during and after showers.
One of the more inconsistent elements of the stay was the variety in food options offered by the hotel. While there were days when the dining experience was quite pleasant, I found that the quality of the food tended to fluctuate. One day, the offerings were superb, while on another, they were subpar.
Moreover, it was disappointing to find the pancake-making machine out of order. Despite the presence of a professionally made sign indicating its status, it seemed that this particular issue was a recurring one. This could potentially point to a lack of attention to maintenance and guest amenities.
The stairwell's condition was also a concern. I observed that it was slightly slippery due to water accumulation, likely as a result of rain. This raised questions about the building's overall upkeep and safety measures, especially given the potential hazard this presented.
On the financial side, I found the price of the stay to be on the higher end, considering the challenges and inconsistencies encountered. While the hotel did have its merits, such as a clean room, convenient proximity to our event venue, and courteous staff members, the overall value for money was debatable.
Furthermore, I reached out to the hotel with a question following my stay, but unfortunately, I never received a response. This lack of follow-up could potentially signal a lack of interest in fostering repeat business or addressing guest concerns.
In conclusion, my stay at this property had its share of positives and negatives. While the cleanliness of the room, convenient location, and friendly staff was commendable, the issues with the window, bathroom, food quality, maintenance, and communication left room for improvement. Given the mixed experience and comparatively high cost, potential guests may wish to carefully consider their priorities and expectations before booking a stay at...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with the result of my stay and the service of the hotel. From the start the hotel did not appear to be clean as there were crumbs on the rug of the floor and there had been odd smells throughout the halls and inside of our room. Our room key hadn’t worked throughout the entirety of the stay as the battery of our door had been broken and flashes red every time we tried to get into our room. Every time we tried to get into our room it had taken 20-30 minutes each time as the front desk had only 1 person working and handling the situation. The front desk had not come around to open or fix our door so the room cleaning/ maintenance worker had let us in when they had been cleaning the room next to us. Finally on the last night someone came and tried to fix our door battery while we were trying to rest in bed around 11:30pm. They stayed and tried to fix the door for about an hour as screws were falling on the floor and we could hear them saying it was not working. The door battery was still not fixed and we had to leave our door open when going to get breakfast the next morning because we knew the people at the desk were not going to be of much help. While I stayed here my car had been broken into and had my MacBook Pro stolen. When I had asked the front desk for help regarding this issue they were extremely uncooperative and had an attitude about resolving the situation. They claimed that most of the cameras do not work and that there would be a manager around to help that never appeared. I was not updated by the front desk nor did anyone help us to try to get down to the bottom of this. I had had a police investigation at the hotel regarding my stolen property and even the officer had said the lady at the front desk had not been an easy person to deal with. I felt scared to stay here and did not feel like it was a safe environment. I drove 5 hours to Utica and had to extend my stay by one night because of the weather conditions. I truly wish there had been somewhere else available to stay because I feel I had a terrible trip staying at the Holiday Inn Express. I have stayed in many other hotels before and did not ever have any of these issues. I advise anyone to never stay here or at any...
Read moreWe are frequently in the Utica area to visit family, and have become very familiar with the lodging available there. This was the first time we had stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, which has been open for only a couple of weeks. There were good points and a few that were not so good, and we are chalking these up to it only being open for a short time. First the good. The room was spacious and furnished nicely. Great TV. Bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. Lots of nice towels, toiletries, and good lighting. The front desk staff was very helpful upon check in and friendly. The breakfast was nice, fairly typical, but good, hot, and well supplied. On the side of not being "good". The housekeeping staff needs to pay a little more attention to the room of the guest who is staying for a few days. While there were fresh towels and the bed was made, the coffee and its supplies were not replenished, nor were any bathroom toiletries. The room did need to be vacuumed and while it may have been, there were spots missed. While the rooms are nice, it is a noisy hotel. Sound does carry. Possibly that was because the guests around us were noisier than usual, but we did hear quite a bit of conversations and lots of water running. all of those things are pretty typical and wont make or break us staying again because we do take into consideration they have just opened. The only issue that we were concerned about was on Sunday morning there were employees in the breakfast room who seemed rather disgruntled. There was a lot of complaining about other coworkers who were not there and management. It was a long ongoing conversation that went on the entrie 20 minutes we were having breakfast. And these employees did not seem to notice or care that guests were in ear shot of their complaints and rants. We will give this location another try in the next month, hopefully then the little kinks will be worked out and their employees will be happier. If not, we will go back down the street and stay were...
