I had a horrible experience at the Americinn on Saturday, October 19th. What should have been the best day of the year for my daughter turned out to be the worst. I booked a room for two nights, Friday and Saturday, so that we could have her 9th birthday party there all day Saturday. I registered online listing the additional five nine year olds that intended on spending the night on Saturday night. Nowhere on their website does it say they don't allow birthday parties at their hotel. Actually, the website says they welcome meetings and events there. So, Friday evening, I check in, carry in my folding table, party decorations, food, and all of our belongings. We spend the evening decorating the entire hotel room. Go to bed, and all is fine. The next morning after breakfast the party is set to start at 11 a.m and the children begin to arrive, there are eight total at this point with my daughter included. I have just finished making them all sandwiches, chips, and fruit for lunch, and they have all changed into their swimming suits and are so excited to go down to swim. I get a call up to the room around noon, only an hour into the birthday party, from the manager at the front desk. I'm thinking she's going to tell me they're being a little loud and to tell them to quiet down a bit. I know they're so excited to get into the pool, are chatting with each other, and playing with all the balloons we spent hours blowing up. No, instead, she tells me that birthday parties are not allowed at the hotel and that the kids are not welcome to go into the pool. She tells me to call all the parents and have them come and get their children. She tells me I'll have to leave and she'll refund me my money. She tells me to pack up everything and book a new room in Proctor where they allow parties. I told her that on the website when I booked the room it doesn't say that we couldn't have a birthday party here as some websites at other hotels do say no birthday parties. All I want to do is use the room/hotel that I already paid for because the party is already in progress. Mind you, we are using the room that I paid for to host the party in and not having the party by the pool area. The only sign up in the hotel says no food or drinks in the pool area. We're not having the party by the pool or breaking any posted rules at the hotel or any policies listed on the website. I don't know about you but when I've stayed at any other hotel they allow guests to visit, I've had guests visit at other hotels, and I've been a guest at many other hotels and have never been treated with such disrespect. I allow the kids to go down to the pool to swim, and as we walk down, she tells the kids they can not go into the pool area to swim. The pool is absolutely empty as we are the only guests there during the day. I tell the kids we paid for the facility, we aren't breaking any written or posted rules, so we are allowed to use it, and we walk into the pool area. As I'm sitting there watching the kids swim, play, and have fun together, another manager walks into the pool area and introduces herself as Gloria. She says we can not allow birthday parties here and you have unwanted guests at this hotel. I stated my daughter has invited a few girls to come and celebrate her birthday with her, but they aren't all spending the night, and I registered the ones that are. I explained to her as well that the website does not say that we can not have a birthday party up in our room. She then says, " You just decide to bring houses and cows with you when you come and stay? I'm like, what? I didn't make a reservation for a barn. This is supposed to be a hotel for people to stay at. Then I got to thinking oh she's comparing these unwanted 8 and 9 girls that we invited over, a total of 4-5 of them because at this point one had just showed up with her mother and saw how the front desk lady was being, and the last one was supposed to come around 2 p.m. to people bringing in unregisted animals to the hotel. Only service animals are allowed. Well, this made me upset...
Read moreMade a reservation over a month ago here because I had business in the area for the weekend. I thought $500/weekend was pretty steep, but since their site said they allow dogs, we decided to select this place. We traveled from 6 hours away. The first thing we noticed was the door to exit near our room was broken and we had to go through the main lobby. Our room was super small. The shade in our room is broken. The lights are dim...and quite honestly, the place does not look like a $500/weekend place. It looks cheap and dumpy. However, we took it for our dog. However, as we heading out of the main lobby for dinner, the desk employee stopped us with a tone as though we were doing something wrong and stated "Just so you know that we stopped allowing dogs". I said, "We picked this place just for that reason and it still has it on your website that dogs are allowed." She said, "We stopped allowing dogs a month ago, and we don't have you listed as having a dog or having paid a pet fee." I was furious because their website didn't ask us for that information, but somehow we were being treated like we were criminals. She then said she was just telling us for "the future". I then spoke up to let her know that I would never come back and there wouldn't be a "future visit"...not only was this ridiculous to be treated this way, but I let her know the place was nowhere near a $500/weekend motel and that it was a bit dumpy. She proceeded to tell me that they "just raised the rates because they remodeled." I almost choked when she said that and said "what remodeling?" She said "we just painted and are getting new carpet next month." Huh. So....paint justifies that kind of rate??? 😅🤣😂 LMFAO The new carpet isn't even installed.
I told her after this weekend we would never be back....and quite honestly, it was all because of the way she treated us with our dog as though we had done something wrong. Change your frigin' website before treating your customers this way....but, no....we will NEVER come back to this dump regardless.
PS...Don't expect pillows on your bed. We had 3 tiny pillows for the two of us and were told there were no more available. For $500/weekend I would have rather hauled my horse trailer up here and slept in the living quarters. This place is terrible. Don't stay here. It's not...
Read moreSorry this may get long. So to begin: during check in there wasn't anyone near the front counter, room was at the top of the steps and there was a decent big gap under the door and could hear everything and everyone coming and going( yes I get that is normal to hear other guests), one of the rooms right next to us one night had their TV up high and music playing loudly too till about midnight, the breakfast was always egg patties and bacon... well from the 2 days there was actually breakfast and not all gone like the other 2 days so I lucked out and was able to go to the perkins next store and they seemed more friendly to give us food to eat, the last morning the staff seemed to be in a good mood which is better than the other days when I did see some of them, mattresses were okay but a bit stiff, the shower had a non slip mat that can be put in the bottom of the tub had a mold smell when I moved it the first night to get it out of the way, Random toe nail clipping on the floor (it was not ours as my toes are painted and his didn't have any that ripped off). Oh and ice machine is still broken. So other than that the room was decently clean, the breakfast area was clean,...
