Walgreens — Local services in Cloquet

I tried to fill a script yesterday but it was not ready. Short staffed. The pharmacist could not get authorization/pricing from my insurance carrier. I offered to pay out of pocket but store policy prevented that. I called my insurance carrier when I got home and was put on hold for 30 minutes. I hung up on them as it was 7:35 p.m. and it never would have been filled or picked up by closing at 8:00. I canceled the script this morning. I could tell the staff members I spoke with were stretched thin. They remained professional and helpful regardless. I understand. No one wants to show up to work anymore or work at all for that matter. My curbside order for several grocery items was filled and brought to my car with no delays. While traveling I needed a prescription filled. A prescription that costs me 50$ each time without insurance. I was not only surprised but very upset when it came time to pay and was told it would be 299$. Again, 50$ is the most I've ever paid in mutiple states for the exact same brand and size. The employee looked at me as though in shock that I thought $299 was way to much. He mentioned he didn't know how I got it so cheap. He even mentioned that maybe the other pharmacies I've used in the past used some kind of coupon of the web. I paused, he never offered to look for a coupon. Turns out that this medication is 50$ everywhere else except at walgreens where it is $299. My problems with his pharmacy are the following. The pharmacy staff are knowledgeable about rxs but not about over-the-counter medications. Two out of the three times that I've been in there requesting medications for my young children they have recommended the wrong medication. The older pharmacist lady with short curly is the one that made the mistakes. This location doesn't Cary major energy drink brands like Full Throttle or Rockstar. The prices on any goods beside RX and over-the-counter medicine are 35 - 50% higher than all other surrounding business.
