My cousin came from out of state flew in rented a car and headed to Cloverdale Wine Country Inn where she had a reservation for 2 weeks. When she arrived it was 11:30 p.m. and even though the website states they have 24-hour check-in service nobody was in the office it was closed and the lights were off. She knocked and knocked, at this time it's now quarter to midnight. They knew she was coming and yet nobody received her. After a long day she was exhausted and called me at near midnight. I explained to her to go to Motel 8 at the south end of town and hopefully somebody would be there to receive her so she could get some rest. When she explained to the customer service rep there they claimed this happens all of the time. I want other folks to know what might happen to them. This is not acceptable. The on-site employee is named Oscar. When my relative called in the morning to see what happened he dismissed her complaint and was quite "sweetly" rude. The general manager Sue Patel needs to know what's going on and has been going on for quite some time apparently from the numerous responses I got on Facebook's Cloverdale community page. Others have had the same issue when they've had family members come to visit. No one is in the lobby to receive them and nobody answers the door after repeated knocking. The receiving person is taking advantage of their position by not being available to nighttime travelers. I hope somebody reads this with the power to fix this issue. My cousin has been coming here for years and has never had this problem before when Sue Patel was running the hotel. Now Oscar is in charge of hotel reservations and being quite lackadaisical...
Read moreThe room itself was clean. What I would expect for the price point if any of the amenities were included. We had planned to stay in town Friday-Tuesday. After one night at the super 8 we decided to “upgrade”. We specifically chose this place for the pool/fitness center/sauna. They let us check in early, which was appreciated. The wifi password was printed incorrectly on the card case, and when I called the front desk, no one answered. I walked over where I was informed it was printed incorrectly. Later on, tried to access the pool and it was locked. We were told it was a “county law”, even though we had seen the pool open at the super 8 less than a mile away 12 hours prior. Their website, nor any 3rd party site, lists these amenities as being closed. Had we known, we would have opted for somewhere else. They said that all of these amenities are available after May even though their website says nothing about them being closed and says their spa and fitness center are “year round”. Very disappointed, wish we could have made an informed decision. Instead, the website was misleading and deceitful. Call ahead to make sure you can use any of the amenities you...
Read moreThe Best Western is fairly new to this small town but it was a convenient stopping place on our way up to Fort Bragg and the Mendocino Coast.
We checked in late but weren't worried about vacancy. Like I said, it's a small town but the manager was a little rude. She looked me up and down as soon as she realized I was an Indian checking in with a guy that wasn't another Indian. Seriously? Can't we get past this? Oh well. A room was all we needed, not her approval.
The rooms are decent. Clean, with a tiny dressing area and the smallest bathroom known to mankind. So glad we only stayed one night. The door was irritating though. It kept getting stuck and I really had to struggle to get out so we just decided not to close it all the way.
Other than that, the hotel does not offer wifi. Good luck if you both have computers and want to get on the net. There is only one Ethernet cord and one outlet. Boo!
Some pros: it's conveniently located near the downtown area and a decent shopping plaza, also next to...
