Tian Yuen Restaurant — Restaurant in Cloverdale

This place is definitely not as good as the reviews. If this weren't in Cloverdale it would be 2 stars. The people are very nice, but that doesn't make the food any better..

The sushi is ok, good enough for when I have a craving. I don't know what they think a 49er roll is though, check out any restaurant in the bay area, it's salmon and avocado with a thinly sliced lemon on top. There are some weird Americanized rolls here, I've only had the classic maki and the spicy scallop hand roll. I do appreciate that the california roll is made with real crab and that they don't use MSG.

The Asian food however is really bad. The meats are low quality and spongy textured, not browned at all, and there isn't much flavor is anything I've had so far. I've had the wonton soup, chow mein with pork, and tom kha with chicken. The wonton soup was ok, dough was definitely on the thick and gluey side and it needed more broth/why are there pho noodles in it? I think I just really wanted some Asian soup that day though. The chow mein and tom kha were really disappointing, I wound up throwing away the remainder. The tom kha was strange tasting, the best thing in it was the mushrooms and those were also low quality. I wound up not eating the meat in either the noodle dish or tom kha. Chow mein was bland, oily and the noodles were soft/gluey instead of chewy and slightly browned.

Bottom line is I'd order the sushi if I really wanted some sushi, but no matter the cravings I'm done trying things on the other section...

I absolutely loved the food and everything, great place and all. I loved how everything was clean and the food came out quickly. A problem that did come across was that l overheard one of the servers being racist as a black woman walked into the restaurant, he said it in spanish but you could clearly pick up on what he was saying. Moments later I also overheard him say something about transgender people. Behavior like this in the work environment is absolutely disgusting, I can't believe people like this get hired and never get called out for it. During this times stuff like this should be noticed, and the worker should be held accountable for their actions. They should understand that things like this stick with them for the rest of their life. PLEASE HOLD YOUR WORKERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR...

I come here with my family and friends frequently, and for good reason; the place is great! The food, for starters is delicious, not the best I've ever had, but delicious for the price nonetheless. But the real reason that I love coming here is the service! The waiters and waitresses remember and greet you with open arms. This gives a homey feel that is hard to match in other places in the area. I only knock off a star because the food is slightly inconsistent in quality, such as the contents of their "Seafood Mix". In conclusion, if you want some good, cheap sushi and Thai food, and you are looking for a pleasant evening with friends and staff...
