Rooms coach seats were dirty. Called twice for a fix. Ended up switching LR and flipping cushions over. I am a frequent traveler and near ambassador level (highest). I’ve been to a lot of Marriotts. The ones overseas seem to be better. I choose Marriott, free to choose where I stay through work. This is the worst lounge I’ve had at Marriott. Not sure why, perhaps price (cheaper with no meat) or to appease the vocal vegetarian minority but the food was terrible. I couldn’t believe it actually so I kept a list. And also there is a sign that says limit 2 cookies. Understandable but in concert with the terrible food selection, it’s just seems a bit over the top. We put out the cheapest food and also only 2 cookies!!
Here is the list of the menu the 2 weeks I been here.
Mozzarella sticks and fried spinach frittata Fried pickles and fried corn Fried zucchini and fried mushrooms Friend pickles and Spinach Phyllo Fried Spinach and Falafel Mozarella Sticks only Fried cheese jalepeno curds and fried corn Veggie dumplings and veggie spring rolls Vegetable egg rolls only Fried pickles and fried spinach frittata
How many times after a hard days work did you come back to home (home away from home) and say man… I been thinking about fried pickles all day. Haha multiple days.
The attendant was on time and had the food out. Everything was clean. But once that food was out she was done and played on her phone in the seating area. I did what I am suppose to do and leave me alone vibe. But typical now a days for the younger generation and phone addiction so can’t hold it against the Marriott. Her being on time and emotionless is probably the best win in a hire today.
The location is upscale. The promenade is the shopping area you want for some upscale shopping it’s close by. There is a fridge in the room. We ended up just going Walmart and buying the snacks and drinks we want. You can fit about a weeks worth in there and there is a dresser next to it that we used as a snack pantry. The views from the hotel are great. And the location is perfect for weekend excursions to garden of the gods and cog train to pikes peak. The pool is decent. There is some hills behind the hotel if you are into sprinting hills. Gym is decent for a hotel gym. If you want to lift oly weights and half racks lifetime fitness is a short drive and has everything you would need and upscale. Breakfast is generous. I regret not picking the JW Marriott. But it doesn’t have the lounge for businessmen like the regular Marriott. I don’t expect a full on meal in the lounge but it was definitely minimum effort and no meat. 10 days in a row, it’s intentional.
The place is good for a quiet location and quick access to the sites I mentioned for weekend outdoor activities. Most staying here are on business so it’s quiet and professional. Lobby bar and restaurant is very good. Service was superb, older more...
Read moreGreat location , only 10 mins from Garden of the Gods, many shopping/eatery places nearby as well as nightlife activities/family ventures however there was no microwave in our room and the food was not that good at all, it was a mediocre selection and overpriced, There was no coffee, water or tea option in the lobby area, a four star hotel should have for its guest free coffee/tea options even light snacks is appropriate. From the 1 star to 5 star hotels, there’s at least water and coffee available in the lobby for its guest , I located a water machine with very small shot cups. Happy hour is only from 4 to 7pm and drinks/food are half price, it seemed we had to “pay” for everything, even the internet and parking is a fee, However it was an ok experience, I’ve seen better, even from 3 star hotels , Marriott is always considered a high profile hotel, I was expecting more. The room was ok, many little lady bugs 🐞 roaming around, floor boards were dirty, no extra comforter was available for the pullout sofa bed, the people at the hotel was a bit awkward, there was a group of ladies that came and sat right in front of the fire place which I think was rude , there’s a open lounge area where all people can enjoy the very large fireplace and these ladies literally came and sat right in front of the fire place , I felt that was unprofessional, this was not a cabin , this is the Marriott , and the hotel personnel said it was ok that they blocked the entire fireplace , however the service was overall good nobody was rude or hostile, the bartender was a bit pushy but I’ve seen worst, there was a convention over the weekend as well so it was a bit crowed. Overall, it was an ok experience, nevertheless, the Marriott would be a last option from...
Read moreThis used to be our favorite hotel when we came to Colorado Springs. Unfortunately you can really see where they have started to cut back. They now charge $10/day for parking. Part of the reason we liked this specific hotel was because there was no parking fee. They’re on top of a hill all by themselves. It’s not like it’s downtown! The bed had 1 sheet, a thin cotton sheet about 3 mm thick, and another cotton sheet. It’s Colorado in December and you can’t put a comforter on the bed???? Suffice it to say that I had a very bad night of sleep. Finally, in the middle of the night I called and asked for a comforter. A man came up and brought another tiny, thin, cotton blanket. I again asked for a comforter and he came back with one. Then he asked why I didn’t just turn the temperature up. Ridiculous. I like blankets on top of me, and not just some tiny sheet while I’m sleeping. My husband mentioned later that he had seen some woman asking for more bedding. A 4 star hotel where people have to ask for bedding???? Are you kidding me? So clueless. The pool is another reason we like to come here. Unfortunately, it’s now frigid. We had planned to hang out at the pool and hot tub for our first day. The pool was too cold to even hang out in it. And the hot tub! Ha! The took away the jets. When my husband went to the front desk to ask, they said it is a “hot” tub. As in there is heat, but no bubbles. What a disappointment.
This is no longer a 4 star hotel. It doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel anymore.
It’s clear they’re cutting back, but it just feels so cheap now. And when you’re cheap, cheap, cheap, it’s time to fly away. I guess we’ll be looking for a different hotel next time we go to...
