Super 8 by Wyndham Jessup/Baltimore Area — Hotel in Columbia

Terrible, terrible management. Worst treatment by a hotel owner, representative, don’t even know what his title was except that he acted and carried himself with such a foul, arrogant, uncaring, unaccounted, unprofessional manner. Mind you I am a Wyndham Rewards Member that have stayed at several of their sponsored hotels including this Super 8 and have returned several times for one the rooms were cleaner, second I have had an easy pleasant experience with 2 Gentleman that conduct check in. I have accumulated reward points from staying at this location using my Wyndham Membership. Tonight, I booked online…through my Wyndham account. Reserved my room using a valid American Express Credit Card. 20-30 minutes after reserving and arriving to the hotel and coming through the office the door, the Foul Arrogant Individual stated to me that my room had been canceled due to my credit card not being good. I said okay, I can pay with cash. I reserved the room on line using a credit card. So it had to be valid in order to book on line. He insisted that it was canceled. I than asked if he wanted to rent me a room. Meaning okay I understand it was canceled. I have cash to pay for a room. He became to sound very clear that he did not want to rent me a room and finally said it. This behavior and attitude by individuals that rely on your business to help them sustain afloat during tough economic times and or individual’s personal struggles is not acceptable. That man does not know that I am currently homeless. Living in my truck. Haven’t had a shower in days or a comfortable bed to sleep in. And he treated and acted like I was nothing probably based on his position or arrogance, probably canceling my reservation to make extra money since my Wyndham Rewards Membership allows me to reserve rooms a bit less than booking directly through the hotel. He did not offer to help or see what he had available. It’s upsetting on the fact that as a man who has the capability to react in many ways to put someone in their place based on their own personal behavior he feels he can treat someone so disrespectful. The moment someone stands up to an individual like this, first thing they wanna do is accuse you of being in the wrong. Like you initiated the whole situation, customer service is key to being in service and generating continuous revenue. We as consumers make this work. We as consumers decide where and when we spend our hard earn money. Bad attitude and ideology that someone else will come through and make you extra money is not always true. Remember that we all walk the same walk, breath the same air, look for opportunities and look to be treated fairly. My kids could be playing in the same playground as yours, attend the same school. So I hate to do this but unfortunately it came to this resolution ultimately but I was checking into this hotel on 3/31/25 and I got there say around 8-8:30pm and didn’t see anyone outside as I walking into their office so eveything seem pretty cool UNTIL, I made my payment for my 1 night stay which was $53 plus tax’s so $60.74 and from there I went to my room BEFORE doing so I asked the guy at the front desk for verification if the room was great. He stated yes it’s a good room so I went to go see, LAWD when I tell you it was an after murder scene it truly was. The bed itself had mattress cover with holes inside of it MEANING they never changed it. Also there was a living sofa which looked like they got it from outside near the dumpster and bring it inside the rooms. Also the microwave was in horrible condition someone or something blew up inside of it and made it turnt completely black and gray inside. There was bullet holes visible in the wall as you walk in it was the first thing I saw, I even FaceTime my wife on my phone to show her and her opinion as if I should stay and of course her answer was a absolute NO and that I should leave immediately so I went back to the office remind you my room was underneath the hotel in somewhat like basement and had a really bad odor smell I could barely breathe, but in the mist of walking back up stairs and over there I seen 2 guests doing prostitution work out of a room and as well it smelled like marijuana as I was walking pass. My life felt very unsecured and unsafe to a point I couldn’t no infer stay because I would’ve been up all night worried and scared for my life. So I then approach the office and kindly ask if I could receive my money back due to the room being horrible conditions . He then argued me down to switch room but he then stated he’s not giving me back my money because they have a refund policy EVEN though the rooms and hotel isn’t ready or is clean at all. I had to call the Howard County police who then stated to me about getting my bank involved and he took a statement on the scene so that it can help out with the process as well. If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. We reserved this hotel through AAA and upon our arrival we go to check in and number one the lobby smells TERRIBLE. The owner and his wife live in the back and the owner tells us we owe an extra 20 bucks per night because 'We went online and got such a good deal that he was mad and told us next time to reserve through him'. KEEP IN MIND that the hotel has a huge AAA sign out front. We settle on an extra 10 bucks a night because either we loose the money we spent for the week or we just pay it and get this stay over with. (we were here for my boyfriends work), The owner sticks us in this room in the basement, in the corner. Toilet seat is cracked, bedding has holes in it and the entire place is a dump. The next day I go to pick up some clothes from the floor and find a SNAKE. YES a snake. I have pictures. I call the front office and his wife who doesn't speak a lick of English tells me to call back when her husband is back. So I had to suck it up and try to kill the snake and throw it outside myself because I wasn't going to wait an hour for him to do it. The following day we find a spider the size of a silver dollar near the restroom. The stay was miserable and I do not recommend it to my worst enemy.
