I would not recommend Gulf Shores Condominium, particularly Unit 103. Upon arrival, after unpacking, I noticed visible mold on the ceiling in multiple areas of the unit, along with significant mold buildup in the refrigerator's ice and water dispensers. The office was closed, so I called first thing the next morning to report the issue and request a different unit. I explained that I have mold toxicity and that this was a serious health concern. I was told someone would follow up — no one did.
I visited the office in person and was told there were no other units available. I requested to speak with the property manager and asked for maintenance to inspect the mold. Later that day, maintenance did come (and was very kind), and he attempted to clean the mold with bleach and water. He also acknowledged there appeared to be a water leak in the ceiling coming from the A/C duct.
I called again and was finally able to reach the manager. Unfortunately, he did not apologize or even acknowledge the mold, stating instead, "We can’t be sure what it is." However, he would contact the property owner and told me it was ultimately their decision on how to proceed. I reiterated that this was a serious health issue and requested at least a partial refund or a cleaning fee reimbursement. He said he would follow up with the owner.
I never heard from the property manager again — not during our stay, not at checkout, and not after multiple follow-up emails and phone calls. When I finally reached him again days after the stay, I was told that since we had already checked out, there was “nothing he could do” other than offer a discount on a future stay. I was appalled.
The lack of accountability, follow-through, or basic concern for guest health is unacceptable. Unit 103 has visible mold in the main area by the kitchen, in the bathroom & first bedroom. I’m writing this to warn others — both about the health risks of this particular unit and about management’s unwillingness to take responsibility or provide any...
Read moreWe reserved unit 605 for 4 nights; April 22-26 2023. We made these reservations in Jan 2023. On Tuesday, Apr 18 (4 days before our trip) we received a call from Gulf Shores that we had to move to unit 202 due to construction. After speaking Gabriel Lopez, Manager he confirmed that we had to move and that we would receive a 20% discount for our trouble. Imagine our surprise when we walked in to unit 202 to find that scaffolding covered the entire porch, rendering it unusable. Neither the front desk representative who had initially called, nor Mr. Lopez mentioned this to us. Additionally, our original unit 605 had been rented to someone else (my son-in-law pointed out the guest on the balcony on the evening of Apr 22). I spoke with Mr. Lopez to confirm that he had kicked us out of unit 605 then rented it to another person. There was no denial by Mr. Lopez. We rented 605 because we were vacationing with my daughter and her family, who had rented unit 606. The management office offered to them that they could stay in unit 606 for 2 nights, then move to another unit on the 2nd floor when the construction was set to start. No similar offer was ever made to us.||Then, Unit 202 leaked so much from the ceiling during a storm that electrical wires around the TV were under water. We were offered Unit 109 or a refund. We were still trying to have a family vacation together with my daughter and her family so we moved to unit 109 (a very nice unit).||To sum it up: we were not made aware of the scaffolding that covered the entire porch of unit 202. Unit 605 was rented to another guest after we were told we had to move units. There was never any offer to stay in unit 605 for 2 nights and then move to unit 109 for 2 nights although these dates were clearly available. Let the renter beware before staying at Gulf Shores,...
Read moreOur stay in room 508 was a waste of money. I’ve tried leaving a review on that specific condo but I guess the owners can filter what gets posted so only good posts are approved. So here is my review: We were excited about our stay at this beach condo but left feeling disappointed. While the listing advertised "new furniture," what we encountered were patched-up pieces that weren’t comfortable, and the egg chair pictured—a big draw for us—was missing. The master bed was also quite uncomfortable, as noted by other guests in reviews, and it didn’t provide a restful night’s sleep. The biggest issue, however, was the non-functioning fridge/freezer. Unfortunately, all the groceries that needed to be refrigerated that we brought so we wouldn’t have to go out to eat all spoiled. This was especially expensive and difficult with a toddler in tow. Management was responsive and offered us a cooler, but by then, the damage was done and all perishables- perished. We had to spend far more than anticipated or budgeted for due to being forced to eat out, which defeated the entire purpose of choosing a condo with a fridge and full kitchen.
While management did their best to assist, I feel the owner could and should have done more to acknowledge the significant inconvenience and financial burden, such as offering a comped night or something... For the cost of the stay, these issues made the experience fall short of expectations.
I chose this condo over others because of the description which, sadly proved to be quite inaccurate. We will not be staying in this condo again. I sure hope they inform all other guests before they check in that there is no working fridge/freezer and update the listing to reflect current conditions as this condo appears to be booked most of the summer...
