It’s a shame that I’m even having to choose 1 star. My wife and I pulled in here and made a reservation then drove back out to eat. When we returned I pulled around the very poorly marked campground and parked my truck camper. Upon exiting the truck I heard a man yelling from across the campground. I was on the phone and didn’t realize he was yelling at me until he yelled out my campsite number. This irate man was yelling at the top of his lungs that I drove the wrong direction and that I drove over his grass. I have pictures and videos documenting that in fact I did not drive onto his clover and weed spattered gravel. I have a ram 3500 that has a camper in the bed of the truck. I am more than capable of making the turn even though it was coming from the wrong direction. Indeed, an RV or a truck pulling a camper would most definitely have driven over the “grass” in this situation. However not a big deal in a pickup. So keep in mind this Man was yelling all this from right behind the office and standing behind a truck and that I was in spot 47. Look at the park map. I was far away. So he goes into a drunken rant and continues to yell crap across the campground. He and the female owner approached me while he was stilling yelling and cussing at me about his “grass”. He was belligerent. He yelled at the owner that it was either him or me that left. So out of respect for the owner and before I reacted and gently laid this drunken guy on the ground and go to jail over some drunken idiot, I left, after 3 police officers arrived. After I left the female owner continued to communicate with me through texts because she refuses to ever answer the phone. She text that he is the maintenance guy and that he is the only employee she’s got. I cannot believe this guy completely lost his crap in front of all the campers that were at this campground. I have never in my life experienced anything even remotely similar to this. So please beware of the maintenance guy. And for the love of god don’t go the wrong direction or you too will...

I try not to be super critical in my reviews but I do try to be honest. I’ve stayed at probably over a dozen KOAs within the last 8 months and so far this one is probably the worst I’ve seen.

The campgrounds themselves were decent, lots of trees provide a lovely blanket of shade and some great views. As for the sites, they were large enough to feel comfortable and not too close to your neighbors. The hookups could use some maintenance/ cleaning to deal with mildew and rot.

There were a handful of other trailers by our site (one of them belonging to a camp tenets I believe, and the others looked to be long term residents) that were in less than great condition. They were cluttered with lots of junk/garbage outside, and one evening the wonderful smell of marijuana was wafting out into the campground.

The bathrooms, while old, were clean for the most part. The biggest problem with the bathrooms were the showers. They were very old with exposed piping and uncomfortable shower heads.

Also be aware that the laundromat is only accessible during office hours which seemed to be very late in the morning to early evening, unlike the other KOAs that have 24hr laundromats

Again, it’s not my intention to be harsh or over critical I’m just relaying my own experience. This KOA will make a decent place to stop off for the night, however when put up against other KOAs there’s some work that needs to be done. As one member of my family pointed out, the feel of this KOA is almost that of an old summer camp. It’s got some charm, but the facilities are in dire need of an update. It’s not the most comfortable but...

Really neat campground! Pros: - Beautifully maintained, lots of good trees, foliage features, and open areas. - Toys for children and lots of space to run and play. - Cats to pet in the main office/store. - Store has a lot of random of Odds-and-ends you may need and some neat antiques to look at, including something Squatchy... - AWESOME staff: We needed to replace a microwave and have it shipped ahead since we're on the road full-time now.  This campground let us ship it here and were very kind during the whole process.  There is a guy that works here nicknamed Cowboy, if I heard right.  He was so kind and even delivered our microwave to our site and offered to give us a hand if needed.  Readers - realize that people like this guy make or break an entire experience. The power of one person (although two in this case since the lady we worked with was great!) can completely transform an experience into something you're proud to be a part of.  His enthusiastic conversation with us was one of those moments we needed after a long and stressful travel day. Cons: - Occasional road noise, but that was pretty minimal. - Long rigs like ours will find it a bit challenging to get in and out of the spots. Take extra time to ensure you avoid the trees and bushes. Thank you - we will definitely return one day when coming back through this area.

Campground: Crawfordsville KOA Journey City, State: Crawfordsville, Indiana Check-in: July 10, 2022 Check-out: July 11, 2022 Site Number: 01 We Liked: Right off of I-74. Swimming pool open until 10. Quiet campground. Lots of shade trees. Playground and basketball court. Bathrooms and showers clean. We Didn't Care For: Gravel site was very uneven. Roads very narrow. Water hook up had 2 spouts and one hung over electric box. Once water turned on there was a small drip from one not hooked up to that could not be turned off. Spot 02 had a steady stream coming from it. Cable hook up required a splitter. Overall Assessment: It was definitely a Journey - in and out - that is what we wanted. Kids were very happy the pool was open until 10 since we had been on the road all day. It seemed as though many of the campers were semi-permanent (maybe seasonal workers at area farms). The woman that helped checked us in was very friendly. There seemed to be a focus on gardening as there were plants and gardens everywhere. We had to unhook the TOAD but were able to park nearby.
