My experience was not good. First- I reserved a room with a king bed. Wasn't given that. Once in the room- dirty socks were left on the floor from previous guest ( gross!), then TV didn't work. I went down to front desk and informed them of my situation. She came to my room and removed the dirty socks, messed with TV. Still didn't work, so she offered me either a different room or a discount. I took the other room option because honestly, I wanted TV. Great... move to new room. Now, I need to insert here: I have a health condition. With that condition I have a SEVERE fatigue issue. I "crash" a couple times a day. When I arrived at hotel, I was needing to lay down. However, with having to deal with the issues and then moving to a different room which involved moving everything down a floor to the new room, my window of resting had passed. This means for the rest of the day, I'm cognitively affected and having to take medication to try and keep me alert. OK, now moving on.... I'm in new room. I get things situated and sit on bed. Once I'm sitting there for a few minutes, I get up and realize the begging was damp. Seriously?? So...I go to front desk again and get dry bedding to replace the damp ones. Getting discouraged at this point! Change bedding. Now, I am someone who prefers my room to be clean. I have to say, housekeeping was not that great. I cleaned the bathroom. (YES, I did bring a couple cleaning supplies with me). Moving on... a few other smaller items were added to my "Seriously??!!" List, but I'll end this review with my final complaint. I received, via email, a copy of my invoice. Great! Then I get the notification from my credit card that I was charged almost $30 more than my invoice. Seriously!!?? I was still in town when I noticed this so I went back and told the man at the front counter. Bottom line... nothing was resolved. I will say, when I was leaving the hotel, the woman asked me how my stay was. I was honest and laid out what my issues were. She was very kind, apologized and told me if I decided to stay at that hotel again... to let her know and it was on her. I appreciated her resolution. She was not there when I went back to inquire about my invoice vs. What I was charged. I did leave my info and was told she would contact me. So that's where I'm at right now. I will see what they have to say. Overall, I wouldn't say the hotel or horrible. And with the limited choices of where I was at, they were and are the better choice. I did not like the temperature of the hallways.. was hot!!!! Along with fatigue I am extremely heat intolerant 😫. Just glad to...
Read moreThe worst experience ever, period! In town for a funeral, spent the whole weekend dealing with the hotel. Made reservations for connecting rooms as we are a family with children. While talking to the front desk about the reservation, also wanted to confirm the pool, and gym would be operational during our stay. Was told no due to Covid, fine understand, so we left our stuff behind. Upon our arrival we did have a reservation, but it all went South from there. The rooms were on separate floors, and not connected as requested. Three different staff acted like they cared and would work to solve the problem. Would find out later that this couldn't have been further from the truth. We were given a "temporary" room to get changed for the services that afternoon, while our connecting rooms would be ready upon return. I say temporary because the room had dirty clothes in the bathroom from the last person, along with various other uncleaned areas. Upon our return later in the day, our connecting rooms had been given away, the hotel was full, and we had only one room to our name, the "temporary" room (see comments above). Circling back a little, while attending said family event, other family members had returned earlier to the hotel, and sent pictures of them using the GYM AND POOL! Thankfully, after we expressed our frustrations to Riley (staff), he was able to dig up a room. After some of the most stressful moments of my life, wondering if we were going to have to sleep in our car, or drive around the rest of the night to look for another hotel. Instead of a weekend with family, we spent the whole weekend worried about our stay. From the parking lot looking like a truck stop (no offense to truck stops) with ALL the trash cans spilling out onto the ground, and blowing all over the front area. To the elevators and common areas looking like they haven't been cleaned since it opened. To the staff treating us like WE were the problem. The reviews told us to go somewhere else, but because of the location, anywhere else would have been even more stressful, taking away time with family, and adding to the commute times. This memory will forever be dominated by "remember that time we almost ended up sleeping in our car?" I guess a special Thank You goes out to the Fairfield Inn & Suites of Crete, as we have been given a memory that will last a lifetime for all the...
Read moreThe rooms were fine (nothing exceptional) but we booked a room on our driving trip from Denver to Minneapolis in August. Just outside of Denver we encountered a torrential rainstorm - driving slowed to under 30 miles per hour and trucks were overturned on the side of the road. We slowed way down & tried to see the lanes (basically just followed the tail lights of trucks ahead of us because visibility was so poor). We kept thinking we would eventually get past the storm. However, after 5 hours of white knuckle driving, (12 hours total driving) we pulled off the road, called the hotel to let them know we would NOT be arriving that night. We were still 5 hours away from Crete in good weather/road conditions. We had communicated with the front desk at 1:50 pm and again at 7:49 pm that there was a terrible storm and IF we made it we would be very late. We phoned again three times from 9:30-9:45. The front desk did not answer, and that is why we give the service only one star. Finally, we were able to leave a message at 9:55 pm that we would not make it to Crete that night . The hotel charged us for the room nevertheless even though it was weather beyond our control that caused us to not be able to keep the reservation. And in spite of the fact that we are Marriott BonVoy Elite members. We called BonVoy Customer Service and they wrote to the General Manager on our behalf, but he denied our request for a refund of that night's charges. That lack of customer service is why we give only one star for service, will not stay at Fairfield Inn in Crete ever again, AND we advise any travelers to NOT guarantee your Marriott room no matter how late you might be arriving. Very disappointed...
