We had booked a room as part of a family member's wedding at a boutique hotel down the street (where the rest of the wedding party was staying). When our room had an AC unit that was blowing hot air on a warm fall day and there were no other rooms to move us, we went down to the SpringHill Suites, which was an overflow hotel for the wedding. Thankfully, they had one room available due to a cancellation (between weddings and youth sports, they were virtually full). The only wish is that they could have done better for us rate wise after explaining our situation. They could not give us the block rate the other wedding guests there had, so we had to pay more than double the rate at our original hotel the first night as walk-ins.||The room was smaller than we had originally but was in very good shape, and everything functioned. This room would be a bit cozy for a larger family (even with the sofa and pull-out bed underneath it), so such people might want to go elsewhere. There are a lot of connecting rooms (which does invite more noise from the adjoining room) but it was manageable with earplugs. There was some wear in the elevator but the hotel did not show its age much.||The breakfast is the new Marriott program that uses more pre-made food (rather than things like eggs & bacon) and the waffle iron was only out on weekends. Again, it was serviceable but definitely miss the...
Read moreHere's what I experienced... Beds were incredibly comfortable and I had plenty of pillows. Definitely putting SpringHill Suites at the top of my list. Rarely does a hotel provide enough pillows and they exceeded my expectations here. The room was clean and provided ample room. Public areas were very comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was stocked well and offers a nice array of options. There's decaf and caf coffees, a selection of juices, oatmeal with a variety of toppings, baked goods, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, eggs, bacon and sausage. Plenty of options for people.
There was one downfall to our stay. This might have been a freak occurrence, I'm not sure. But in the morning, I heard showers start in the room above and to the side of me right as I was starting my shower. I turned the hot water all the way to the hottest point and still ended up with a shower that was pool temperature. Great if it was a hot, humid day, but not so great when it's cooler and you want your morning shower.
I had family staying in another room and they had the same experience - no hot water. Now, other family members opted to go down for the breakfast buffet first and then shower after and they said their shower was perfectly fine. So it might be an issue with too many rooms showering at once strains the water heater, but that's...
Read moreThe rooms are your average SpringHill Suites room minus the flatware, dishes, and other amenities that other "suites" offer. There was nothing remarkable, except perhaps, the location. We paid $250 per night for two nights ($500), and as Platinum Elite members were put in a room against the highway and with a hot Western exposure in the summer. We checked in around 2:00 in the afternoon, so I can't attribute the room assignment to a late check-in. We did ask to move, but we were told nothing else was available.
We also spent the day out to come back and find our room the way we left it . . . Dirty towels, bed unmade, and garbage in the can!! Really??? At $250 per night??? And after stopping at the front desk to request housekeeping service???
Breakfast? The offerings appeared to be powdered eggs (scrambled) with turkey sausage, oatmeal, and muffins.
Internet is intermittent.
Totally unacceptable for the price!!!!
We won't ever be coming back here, especially when there are better hotels just a few exits to the east. Perhaps not as convenient as this one, but at less than half the cost, better service, and better breakfast, it's worth the trouble of an additional 15-minute drive . . . and the location is much more quiet.
Can not recommend on any level in any...
