Craft Kitchen + Bar — Restaurant in Danbury

My mom hosted my baby shower at Craft Kitchen for a Saturday brunch with 50 guests and we had THE BEST experience. From the initial planning with Jasson, who was incredibly responsive and accommodating to all of the questions my mom had and gave her a view of the space when she went in to visit, to the actual day of with an incredibly responsive and welcoming staff – the event was perfect. The food was excellent – many guests are still talking about the brussels sprouts appetizer, and the entrée options were equally delicious. The space was beautiful and great size for our group. The restaurant was very accommodating to allow some of my family members in early to decorate the space to match the theme, though again the room is beautiful without much help from added decor. Ray (I believe he was the lead waiter of our event) was extremely personable with every guest and made sure that no one ever wanted for anything. I would highly recommend hosting an event with Craft – you will not be disappointed. We will absolutely be back for regular meals to try out even more of their menus (and as the expecting mother to be, I will be making a trip for their legendary espresso martini that I heard rave reviews of as soon as this baby makes his entrance!). I am also excited to check out their second/sister restaurant! I recently had my bridal shower at Craft and I can’t begin to explain how incredible it was. The process leading up to the event was made straightforward and easy, and the owner was in constant communication with me, answering any questions I had. Chris is a fantastic waiter that we have grown to know and love by visiting the restaurant so frequently. He waited the entire shower and was so enthusiastic and helpful that I had guests commenting on how wonderful he was (and our response was, “yeah, tell us something we don’t already know”). When we arrived in the morning to decorate, the chairs, tables, cutlery and linens were already set up and perfect, making decorating much more simple! The FOOD. Oh my God the food. Brunch buffet did not feel like a buffet at all, but rather a five star meal. The chicken and waffles were gourmet and I’m still having dreams about the truffle Mac and cheese. Even the display was classy, clean and perfect. I can tell you right now that my family and I are usually difficult to impress, but Craft has gone above and beyond to make sure we were. My friend and I visited for lunch around 1 PM on April 15th. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. When we arrived, the host was extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. We received a very bland greeting and were seated in a booth as requested. What we thought was just the host turned out to be our server as well.

We placed our drink orders, and when they were brought to the table, they were set down rather forcefully. The same thing happened when our meals arrived—the plates were handed to us in a way that felt rushed and borderline aggressive. Overall, both my friend and I felt uneasy throughout the experience due to the service.

That said, the food and drinks were quite good. Our meals (Black Spaghetti and Shrimp & Grits) were served hot and tasted great.

As for the women's bathroom, there was toilet paper on the seats, and a couple toilets hadn’t been flushed. It definitely needed attention.
