Kibberia — Restaurant in Danbury

I really hate to leave negative reviews but.... the food is very nice, my favorite is the lentil soup. That said I have done pickup sometimes on top of eating in and 3 of those times there was an issue with my order. Either missing or incorrect items and another time given a similar but different persons order.

Could I have opened and checked every item in the bag yes, should I have to no. When I got home (I do not like close) this last Saturday with my pickup order (that i placed through DoorDash and will not do again) I see that I am missing an item! I call and after the staff looks at the order etc tells me they dont have access to issue a refund and no manager is in the rest of the evening and not open until monday but he will let them know and I can call to followup. Ok.

I call back when they are open and speak to someone (manager?) who is very nice but cannot help me bc i put the order through DoorDash and only doordash can refund me, (and apparently overcharge me by almost double for some items). She nicely talked me through how to do that (initiate order problem) but DoorDash told me that it was past the window for a refund for a missing item. If I knew this Saturday I obviously would have done this then.

Yes I could have done some things different, not used DoorDash, understood DoorDash or checked every item in the bag but....

Best falafel ever. REALLY REALLY good food!!

I wrote the above years ago. I hate to say it, but they’ve been going downhill, especially over the past few years. They actually still have the best falafel, but a lot of their other food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. It’s just not as fresh, and even the [large] salads which used to be a good size, are much smaller. The last few times we had the chicken shawarma, it was so greasy (like it was already cooked and was then reheated in oil), that it made us sick. The belila used to be AMAZING, now when I’ve ordered it it’s like it’s been deep chilled and is freezing cold and so the oil is all congealed, which makes it totally loose all its flavor—not the way to serve it. I also have to add: the music playing in there is oftentimes atrocious—not relaxing, and with foul language. I would like the Kibberia of about 6 years ago back—fresh, delicious food, generous portions and good prices; a funky, friendly, upbeat little spot for truly exceptional food. Absolutely OBSEEEEEEESSSED with this middle eastern spot.

Such fresh ingredients, amazing service, quality food, authentic dishes at an even greater deal. BIG portions. Definitely a bomb spot to order takeout. Everything’s so clean. Great for sharing. Favorite so far are the falafel and the spinach pie. If you order the falafel plate you get enough food to be full all day.

The falafel wrap combo is such a great deal! Easy bites, you can even order it spicy and add on a tabouli salad for a couple of bucks. Don’t you dare skip on the spinach and feta pie. Sooooooooooooo good, especially warmed up. My new fave spot for takeout. Middle eastern food is just delicious and they really cater to all dietary needs, especially vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.
