If I could give it negative stars I would. On their website it says RV Resort and Campground. Those words imply that CAMPING is permitted. When I called the greeting was short and I asked if there was camping available this summer (the other place on the island said no one was open). She said yes and I asked if there would be something for a tent with my two small dogs. She asked when I was coming and then asked me how long my RV was......definitely communication issues. I said I didn't have an RV and she said she wasn't taking tents. I asked if I could pay full price for an RV spot and she simply repeated herself. I've been wanting to visit this island for years and now that there's a window to do so, I have my dogs (it's known for being a dog friendly beach as well as having the Estuarium), it's on my route and there are obviously openings, I'm being discriminated against because I don't have an RV?? At a place that advertises RVs AND CAMPING......... Well, it's a weird year and people have the right to refuse service, but it's usually for unwelcome behavior not just because of some whim. What a shame to deny someone who wants to experience the place as it is (yep, hot, muggy I'm sure, and gorgeous!) in favor of generators, satellite televisions and so many other awesome indoor activities....And please, don't think I have an issue with RVers, ALL should be welcome is what I am saying. Thank you for your own special brand of exclusion Pelican Nest!! I'm thinking maybe I'm not really...
Read moreYou won’t find a better place to stay, right next door is a very good restaurant, I see some other people complaining about size of camp sights, I had 8 kids with me and two adults and we managed just fine. Two older boys had a tent set up and I had my 20 foot projector screen set up in front of the camper. The owners and staff were phenomenal. Ice cream, shaved ice and souvenirs were all very affordable. Swimming pool was very nice and clean. The walk to the beach is a shot from the camp ground with young kids, and would Imagine for any older people, but jump In your car and go to west end it’s a 4 minute drive and you park 50 foot from the water. If you like to fish there’s a bay right across the street and it’s full of fish.
Out of all the private owned camp grounds I have stay at this has been by far the best one.
Absolutely...
Read moreThe park is small and the sites are close together. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice pool and park. It’s right next door to a restaurant that we walked to one evening. Right across the street from the beach is a bit of a stretch-it is right across the street from the parking lot for the public beach; however, the walk to the actual beach is 1/2 mile. One of the piers will take you over the dunes and then a short walking distance to the beach. Is that a problem? No, just not what I was expecting when someone says the beach is right across the street. The RV park is clean, the showers are private, two washers and dryers and the office has souvenirs, tee shirts, ice cream and snow cones. I would definitely recommend the park and would stay again when we are at...
