If I could leave zero stars I would. We're visiting from out of state and thought it would be a good idea to bring our kids here for ice cream, wrong. This is the worst ice cream establishment I've EVER been to! I literally never leave reviews but our experience was so bad I felt obligated to this time. Firstly, the hours are clearly posted on the door "11am - 8pm" we showed up at 4:30pm and waited outside the locked door making eye contact with the people inside for almost 5 minutes before someone came to the door only to tell us "just a minute" and slam the door back in our faces. After waiting 5 more minutes we were finally let in. I had my 6 young children and seeing as they can't all read yet, I stood there and read off every ice cream they had listed on the sign while the lady stood 2 feet in front of me and let me name them all, only to then start ordering the flavors my kids wanted and being told "we don't have that one anymore" after every single one. Finally I asked her to tell us which ones they do have and got the kids to order off the limited selection she gave me. We were then given melted ice cream in cups because even though their sign states they have waffle cones, we were informed when trying to order one that they didn't have any. The ice cream was mostly melted and didn't even taste like the flavors we were told (specifically, the coffee flavored ice cream tasted strongly of banana.) The absolute children (I'm serious, they barely looked 16) that were running the shop were rude and didn't seem to care about anything other than clocking in and out. The place was disgusting inside and out and I've rarely had service as bad as I experienced here. This place would be better off shut down and I'm sure after their next inspection...
Read morethe customer service is terrible. throughout my week staying on the island i have gone there twice for ice cream and order pizza for one night. every single time that i went in the workers all had a terrible attitude towards every customer. the first time i went to get ice cream i ordered a blueberry milkshake. once the worker who was supposed to make my milkshake was told she scoffed about having to make it and began to complain about my order. she continued to look me up and down with complete disgust as she went on to make the shake. the time i tried to get pizza the workers all had terrible mannerisms and attitudes towards me and the other customers that were trying to enjoy their time. the second time i TRIED to get ice cream was even worse. there was a long line 30 minutes before they closed. once we got inside it was 5 minutes after closing and they proceed to kick us out because they were closed. we were 1 of 3 small groups who wanted to get ice cream. instead of having someone come out and say that they were closing and might not be able to get everyone, they waited until the end of the line was inside expecting to have service. they insisted they had to close and couldn't help 6 more people after we all waited 30 minutes. to add on to it, the lady that said we couldn't get service was very rude about the whole situation. i regret ever giving this extremely disappointing company a penny. i suggest you find somewhere else to go instead of this excuse of an...
Read moreIsland Rainbow consists of 2 businesses: a pizza parlor and an Italian restaurant. This review only applies to the restaurant.
I hesitated to write this review because it may negatively impact a small business on this island, but there are other dining places there that get good reviews and are deserving of patronage.
We saw a good review for the lasagna served here. It's true, the lasagna is good -- It was the only decent entree out of the 5 that we ordered. Portions were small for the price (avg. $15 per plate).
My steak, although properly seasoned & cooked, was served on a cold plate that sucked the heat right out of the meat. My daughter's chicken dish consisted of a handful of seasoned chicken cubes over some pasta. My wife's grilled grouper was overcooked and poorly seasoned. Can't remember the other dishes, but they were all disappointing.
We felt that we wasted $100 (including tip). In comparison, the Olive Garden seems a gourmet restaurant.
The pizza parlor next door is apparently has the same owner but its pizza gets good reviews. We had some good and generously sized ice cream cones there. (Unlike the restaurant, it doesn't accept...
