The manager/owner of this motel 6 is a fascist pig and a bad person in general. I stayed in the hotel with my fiancee for 2 days and upon leaving we found a bedbug under the sheets! We were shocked and disgusted and couldnt believe that it had been there the whole time we were and we started to get really worried that we had been bitten. My fiancee caught the bedbug in a cup and we brought it to the office to show the management. We asked to see the manager and a old portly middle eastern man came up to the front desk. We told him where we found it and showed him the pest. He at one point even tried to tell us that we brought the bug ourselves! This was totally disrespectful and completely preposterous. We politely asked to be refunded for only one night of the 2 night stay. He told us that it was not possible for him to issue us a refund. We said that would be fine but to expect us to tell all in a lengthy "Yelp" review. He was visibly shaken after that comment and abruptly changed his story saying that he could provide us with a voucher that could be used another time. I had heard that he regularly puts people on a "do not rent" list for making complaints so i made sure to ask him before recieving the voucher to make sure that we were NOT put on that list because of this. He assured us both that he would do nothing of the sort so we proceeded with the transaction and recieved our voucher. A couple of months later we were passing through Davis on the way back from Tahoe and figured we would stop at Motel 6 because all the other hotels were booked due to UCD graduation. I went to the front desk to check in and the girl at the counter informed me that I in fact was on the "do not rent" list! I asked to see the owner/manager immidiately to confront him about this issue, especially because he gave us his word we would NOT be placed on any sort of list. As soon as he saw me he began acting extremely rude telling me that I had to leave his property "at once!" And that I was not allowed on the premises at anytime for anything and to leave immediately. He gave me no reason as to why i was not to rent. Needless to say there was a bit of a scene since I got upset at his complete disregard of any sort of customer service. He said finally that I lied about the bedbug and that a pest control person came and said nothing was wrong and id made the wbole thing up the whole thing was very embarrassing and completely out of line. I couldn't believe he had the gall to accuse a customer of such a thing, its no fault but his own that his establishment is the breeding place of bedbugs and who knows what else. Im actually glad i didnt room in his dirty, seedy motel. I fully intend to contact the corporate office to make a formal complaint as sell as the better business bureau. He quickly lowered his tone and retreated into the darkness like the very bug that started the...
Read moreI have stayed at several Motel 6 locations and find them to be very similar. They are clean and relatively inexpensive, but they all have three problems, one minor problem, one middling, and one major:
Minor: The light switch for the bed lamps is high up on the wall so one cannot reach it without getting out of bed.
Middling: They use the world's worst soap. It leaves the hands greasy, and I have to spend several minutes wasting hot water scrubbing the soap off my hands. That means I have to bring my own soap if I want to take a shower, as it would be impossible to get that grease off my whole body.
Major: The toilets have no lid.
a) I don't like having to look into an open toilet bowl when I a get out of a shower or am brushing my teeth.
b) With that open bowl, I am always worried I will drop something into it.
c) Experimental studies have shown that one should close the toilet lid before flushing because the flushing process throws aerosols of the toilet contents into the air--which then land on all the bathroom surfaces, including your toothbrush.
I have discovered these problems are not confined to a single Motel 6 location, and for the middling and major reasons, I am unlikely to use Motel 6 again. Otherwise, they would be great.
Revision to review:
I ended up staying in the same Motel 6 two days later because the other nearby motel had sold out its inexpensive rooms. I was in a different room, and this room had a lid on the toilet! (However, I did bring my own soap.)
That lid was a surprise because I in the last few years that I had stayed in other Motel 6s in other cities, they also did not have lids on the toilets, so my conclusion after my stay in the review above was that none of them had toilet lids.
With that major problem eliminated (assuming you can get a room with a toilet lid), I raise my review from 2 stars to 4 stars. In the future, I will see if I can get a room with a lid on the toilet when I call for a reservation (which means I won’t be reserving a room using their website), but I see the logistics problem for the motel to guarantee that, so I suspect they cannot. If they cannot, then I will stay elsewhere unless the price difference...
Read moreIf I could give this location a zero star or even negative stars, I would gladly do so. I was excited being able to stay in Motel 6 several times a week being on the road with my husband who is a commercial driver. Our last stay with Motel 6 in Davis California was a nightmare. First, we were double charged and after going to the office, the guy refused to issue a refund or to extend my room one more day, saying it would be a loss for him. He told me I could have the second room, which I definitely did not need. I went through a week of trying to get ahold of someone to fix this which I do not recommend. Their customer relations is not fun to deal with. One lady said she got it taken care of, but she did not and during the call, she was very rude and judge mental, questioning my family and situation. Eventually, it was taken care of and we finally received our refund, several days after checking out. Next, after checking out, we get a $100 charge on our account. We call the hotel and he says it was for a broken tv. We didn’t even watch or use the tv during our stay and he said, oh I’m sorry, we thought it was you, I’ll get this refunded. So we call back, learning from the first time to get this in writing, however the lady at the front desk said they would be unable to issue a refund, since it was an employee who stayed in the room before us and they never reported the tv as broken. So here we are now, going through the whole customer relations ordeal again to try to fix this, only this time, they are trying to shove my issue under the rug and not refund this back at all.
So, to anyone considering staying here, please do not. If you want to be judged, disrespected, charged expenses you do not need or damages you did not do, blamed wrongfully, and shoved under the rug, then go for it. But I would never recommend motel 6 Davis or any motel 6 related motel to anyone. They don’t “leave the light on” for you. They take advantage of people and don’t do anything to...
