First all let me say the Google review is not accurate, many of the five star reviews are for chicken hawkers which used to locate here. Now the place has changed ownership and it's called Paste Thai. Google delete those old reviews please.
Here is the review for Paste Thai
So this evening We ordered a dinner for two person consisting of three items, Tom Yum Soup with tofu, Pad Thai with chicken, and Green curry with rice.
At first sight I was extremely disappointed by the portions of the food. For fifty plus dollars we get two small soup bowls and one medium to go container. Definitely less than your normal Thai food serving size. Then I noticed they got my order wrong, there is not a single piece of tofu in my tom yum soup, instead I get a few pieces of extremely bland chicken. And it's not as if their ingredients are up there with some of the best Thai food like their pricing suggests. What I found in my tom yum soup consists of chicken, cheap white shimeji mushroom, and some pieces of tomato. No cilantro, lime, or even basil leaves. This restaurant has the audacity to charge you fifteen dollars for one small bowl (less than 500ml) of Tom yum. 1/5 score given. Now to the green curry, the curry is extremely watery, not at all what you would expect from an authentic Thai restaurant. It's honestly more soup than curry. I was shocked to find the green curry part and the watery part actually separated at the bottom of the bowl. Suggesting that the cook may have just dumped some curry powder into water to call it green curry. A shameful display which adds another fifteen dollars to the bill. Again 1/5 score here. Finally we have the Pad Thai, the only ok item. Not too flavorful and the bean sprouts are raw but I'll give it a 3/5.
So overall I will give this meal a 1.3/5 rating which is equivalent to one star on google.
I won't be ordering from this restaurant again and I would advise the owner to seriously reconsider their kitchen management or adjusting the price to the...
Read moreWe had never been here before so when we entered were unsure what to do. The person at the table asked us if we were ready but we needed to ask for guidance on choices, etc. Once we figured out where to look for the options, we chose the baked and the fried chicken. There was only one other option and I can appreciate a limited menu, usually means there is a mastery to the offerings. We sat outside, really appreciated being able to do that but you should check ahead during the pandemic as the closures come and go. The chicken was not bad. It was moist enough. The flavor however came from the sweet-chili sauce in a container that you pour over your food. Uneventful. I felt I could have easily prepared it at home. The fried chicken, same story although I cannot fry chicken like that at home so that was a crispy treat. Same sauce situation though. The soup that came with it as well as the fresh cucumbers should have been the winners of the meal and I could tell they would have been IF they were not unrinsed and tasted like dish soap or some kind of soap. On the one hand, it is good to know they are being clean but tasting it in the food was too much. This place would be a great place for families who have differing palates because the food is simple and I can tell once they get it going and these other things rectified, it could be a nice reliable spot. I don't know if I will go back, I probably will. The crispy chicken was good enough to give the other parts...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but this incident compels me to share a serious concern. I ordered takeout from paste Thai and picked it up myself yesterday night. While having the mango sticky rice, my wife discovered a stapler clip in the sticky rice which she nearly ingested. This is not a minor oversight; it is a dangerous foreign object that could have caused real harm.
I urge management to thoroughly review their food preparation to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else. Ordering takeout should never come with the risk of swallowing sharp objects.
Paste Thai was our go to place for Thai food. But, they need to improve safety standards and staff training. Until I see evidence on this, I can't recommend this place. Please be vigilant if you choose...
