Davis' newest Starbucks is spacious and inviting inside. Positioned on the corner of an intersection at a busy I-80 freeway interchange, it will no doubt serve many travelers daily, as well as local residents and students. Unlike some other local coffeeshops, which seem set up solely to accomodate students who park at tables for hours with their laptops, this Starbucks appears as if it will accomodate a mix of clientele. There are a few comfy armchairs in the center of the main seating area, the remainder of the seating consists of rather uncomfortable short and tall barstools, some with backs, some without. Two long communal tables have outlets located conveniently on the underside to charge electronics. A few tables around the perimeter have adjacent outlets, but plenty of seating is outlet-free.There is also a long commmunal table with outlets located on the inviting outdoor patio; very cool! Employees are usually friendly and accomodating, if a bit harried. I am a regular at the drive thru and only a few barristas acknowledge me as someone they see frequently. I love the new video feature at the drive thru! It's fun to see the barrista you are speaking with, and I can see how this feature will be tremendously useful in trying to clarify an order with a confused customer. As for beverage quality, ,I'm sure all of the menu standard beverages meet customer expectations, however, I am one of those annoying customers who orders my drink with several customizations, and so far the team here hasn't quite nailed it. The flavor hasn't been of the richness and intensity it should be, and half the time they've forgotten the affogato espresso shot I frequently add to my frappuccino (although I'm always charged the 80 cents for it). Overall, I am thrilled to have this drive-thru open around the corner from my home. My pocketbook however, may not...
Read moreThis is one of the worst Starbucks I've ever patronized, and it makes me sad because it is in my neighborhood and I had really looked forward to its opening. First, the furniture is very uncomfortable and seems designed to keep people from staying long. There are very few small tables and even the upholstered chairs aren't comfortable nor are they conveniently arranged. As you can see from the picture, they are in two rows. They are too far away to talk comfortably and seem regimented. Hardly anyone ever uses them. I understand that people who buy one drink and stay all day are a problem for coffee shops, but uncomfortable seating arrangements aren't going to prevent determined spongers. Second, they have a lovely display of pastries to buy. The problem is they rarely have many of the displayed items actually on sale. Seriously. Last week I asked for three different items and they didn't have any of them. Similar things have happened to me and to friends earlier. I thought it was because they had just opened, but it seems to have persisted. Third, the quality of the coffee drinks is inconsistent. My preferred coffee drink is a "flat white" and sometimes they do a good job. However at least half the time there is so much milk (in the same size drink) that the coffee taste is almost undetectable. I don't understand this. Surely they put the same number of shots in but it doesn't taste like it. Others have said the staff are pleasant but overworked. I agree. And because it is so close, I'll probably go there from time to time, particularly if I don't have time to go to Temple, or Peets, or the excellent Starbucks in West Davis just off Highway 113 near...
Read moreIt was my dog’s last day on earth, and I wanted to bring her one final treat...something she had always loved, something that had been part of so many of our adventures together. I pulled into Starbucks, barely holding it together, and asked for a Puppuccino for her last day. What they did next broke me in the most beautiful way.❤️❤️
This is the Starbucks I go to regularly, but on my last visit, they went above and beyond in a way I will never forget...
I had to say goodbye to my beloved dog, Annabelle, after her throat cancer had spread. On her last day, I took her on one final adventure, our usual trip to Starbucks, where she could enjoy her favorite treat, a Puppuccino. Through my tears, I asked the baristas if they could write something on her cup since it would be her last Puppuccino. What they did next truly touched my heart.
Not only did they decorate her cup, but they also brought her a little sausage treat and came to the window to tell me how sorry they were for what I was going through. Every single one of them took a moment to acknowledge Annabelle, her life, and the love we shared. They didn’t have to do any of this, but they did..because kindness still exists in this world, and that day, I needed it more than ever.
I had hardly any hope left, but in that moment, they made my day a little brighter, a little warmer, a little more bearable. Annabelle left this earth wrapped in love, compassion, and her favorite Starbucks adventure that day.
To the team who made this small but incredibly meaningful gesture, thank you. Your kindness on one of the hardest days of my life will stay with me...
