Tropical Winds knowingly and purposely towed my registered and legally parked car when I forgot to put the pass back on the dash. I wasn't told that they tow when I arrived, I was never given a verbal or written warning (even though I was at the hotel very early Saturday night), and they intentionally chose to tow my car instead of remind or warn me, knowing I had an out -of-state plate and I was leaving in a few hours. A racket, or just mean? The desk would not tell me if my car was towed or not Sunday morning, and would not tell me their towing company or how to contact them. I started experiencing anxiety, and another guest assisted me in finding the tow company, who only accepts cash from all customers and doesn't provide receipts, even when asked. The manager allows motorcycles to park up front without a visible pass, and had no mercy when I forgot to put mine back (they tell single women traveling alone not to display...). Even though I sent in documentation of ADHD (which is why I forgot), management refused to refund my money or allow me to contact the owners. After contacting the city, they finally offered 1/2 refund, which I agreed to, until their new general manager admitted in an email the he approved and condoned towing the cars of registered guests, and plans to continue this policy, even if his guests have visible handicapped lanyards. After three days in total (it took me hours to find all the state links to complain about unethical business practice in Florida and send them), I had to almost contact the Attorney General and Senator who lives in Port Orange. Tropical Winds finally issued the second part of the refund. If you stay here, don't stay near the garbage chute or elevators, as the noise starts very early in the morning and good sleep is not possible. Avoid the South side balconies, as they are over the garbage dumpsters. Multiple pizza places were sliding advertisements under the door, which could present an unsafe situation. Jackie at the front desk was very nice, and the housekeeper who gave me the extra tissues was very kind. The one who came when I was leaving (at least they allowed late check-out when the nice guest asked them for me because it took a long time to get a hold of the towing company each time, and then over an hour to arrive, even though they said it would be 5 minutes--- note: no waiting room, shade or bathroom and bars on a side window where they do business) gave me a lecture about the pass when I apologized for being late. No compassion from at least 3 employees until I threaten with state compliance reports. Finally, the manager agreed to revisit his new towing policy of towing registered guests on purpose without warning them, and called the refund an act of goodwill. I let him know what I thought I gesture of goodwill could be and received no reply. Long time guests say they adored the previous manager, who always valued the best interest of the guests. I respect their efforts to prevent illegal parking, but this was unnecessary and mean. If you encounter unethical business practice, I suggest contacting the state agencies. Read the reviews on Yelp and choose for yourself....

I am an 18 year old that went on her first vacation. I was nervous to say the least. The staff were extremely nice, very welcoming and helpful. Me and my friend decided to stay from the 25th-30th and we got an oceanfront room. The room was extremely clean, the towels had stains but they were definitely clean. The room service checked on us on most of the days and when we asked for service, they were very willing to help right then and there. The phone in the room didn’t work but thats okay! Just had to go to the desk. Not 15 minutes later the room service lady was up there to help, VERY respectful and kind. She was training a lady that was also very nice, they kept their space and tried their best to not overstep or invade. 10/10 on room service. The fridge wasn’t the coldest but did the job, the freezer worked great. The appliances are a bit outdated but absolutely do the job. There is dripping from the air conditioner on the balcony but it didn’t bother us none. The only con that really stood out was the smell of weed but if your not bothered by that then its a pleasant surprise when you walk in the hall lol. Also there beach access stairs are under construction so there wasn't any beach access from the pool but the public gate is right beside the hotel so I won’t complain much. The best thing that happened to us is when we decided to buy a night for the 30th but we wanted to pay the for the cheapest room which was a partial view that was more costly than we expected. We expected to have to change rooms and move everything but when we asked the lady at the desk, she was so kind to allow us to stay in the same room and for much cheaper. She was extremely helpful and considerate, everyone was! When we were leaving, i was cussing my brains out trying to get the dang cart to go straight, which no one was near me expect my friend because it was 4 am, or so I thought. The desk dude was sitting in the other room in one of the chairs and he got up and helped me. i was so embarrassed lol. He was super nice, helped me get to steer right and wished us well on our travels. Overall a great first girls trip experience, id stay again. p.s. the views are...

I would rate this a 5* but it does need to be updated. Our room was on the 8th floor with ocean view. Watched the morning dolphins swim by. What I liked about this hotel was it had two pools. Since we were there end of March it was cold out. No outdoor pool for us or ocean. BUT they had an indoor pool!! I e never seen that before. Only thing is, they just painted it so it was closed. It opened the day we left. I LOVED that so the kids could still have fun. It’s older. It’s got tacky paintings on the walls our neighbor balcony loved their 420 which came into our room. Had to make a call because it’s not fair for us to have to smell it and we want to enjoy sitting outside. Course they lied but they stopped. We booked through a 3rd party and got a great rate. I also think because of the time we went was cheaper. It might be a $300 room. Anything with an ocean view coats more but what we paid?!!! Wow! We did call for a late check out and she gave it to us buttttt the housekeeper just opened the door no knock nothing and told us we have to leave. Told her but she said it wasn’t in the computer. I don’t like places that lie!! You pay to get a late check out. If u do t have to mess with the desk after check out. The you’ll be fine. They have a cafe on site but they don’t even k kw when they open n close. Breakfast not included. So for the ocean view I give it a 4*. The entrance to drive on the beach is two hotels down. You can see it from balcony. If I had to pay $200 on up, I’d chose a different place. We paid $80 less that n for that price of as well worth it.

I feel compelled to warn others about the horrendous experience my family and I had at Tropical Winds Oceanfront "Resort". First and foremost, this place is NOT a resort—it’s a poorly maintained motel masquerading as one. The conditions were absolutely appalling: --The so-called "oceanfront view" was overshadowed by a gentleman working on his car in the parking lot. --The hallways and elevator reeked of marijuana, creating a very unpleasant and unprofessional atmosphere. --The indoor pool was slimy, filthy, and downright unsafe. While my family and I were in the pool, a chunk of the ceiling fell to the floor—a serious hazard. --Although the room itself was clean, the overall property was outdated, run-down, and in no way lived up to the standards of even a one star "resort." Despite reaching out to management, I never received a response. Hotels.com also attempted to contact them multiple times on my behalf but got no reply. This complete lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. In my last email I stated if there was no reply I would leave social media reviews w/pics. You can see in the photos the actual condition of this so-called "resort," which are drastically different from the pictures they use in their advertising. My family and I felt so uncomfortable that we decided to leave and stay elsewhere. As for future travelers: steer clear of this place. It’s not worth the risk to your vacation—or your health.
