Atlantic Breeze Inn (former Sahara Motel) — Hotel in Daytona Beach

The reviews I had read on this motel lead me to believe it would be okay but I was wrong and my first clue should have been the notice in the lobby stating "No Refunds". When we checked in the first issue was the electronic lock did not work. The maintenance man was there quickly and repaired it and again later that evening replaced it. When we entered the room the first thing that hit us was the musty smell and the second thing was the condition of the room. From a cleanliness perspective the refrigerator had rust on all sides and the top, the carpet was filthy and not vacumed, there was laundry left in the bathroom from the previous guest, dead flies in the cupboards and what must have been months of dirt build up on light fixtures. In addition there was a hole in the wall covered by a loose fitting board and some power outlets did not work and were loose from the wall. To make thing even worse the maid only made the beds the first day and did not even empty the garbage, clean the bathroom or leave any clean towels. I did complain and the room was given a basic cleaning the next day.||There was one bright spot and that was the elderly lady that checked us in and the handyman both very nice and friendly people. ||We were there during speed week and even with that going on the motel was way over priced and to add to it you had to pay |.25 cents for ice. Last minute option so prices were high. I chose this based on price knowing the chances i was taking. First glance was "ok. It could be worse." ||||Pros: ocean view even tho it wasnt on same side street as ocean as lot across from it us vacant. Kitchenette with large frig, mico and sink. No utensils. I actually slept good on the bed. It was firm with minimal padding. ||||Cons: old sheets and bed cover with stains. You had to use the bed cover as the blanket (if it was cold enough). This is a older motel that could use some updating. We stayed overnight and the room had a full size refrigerator, microwave, cabinets and sink. There was no coffeemaker in the room but the lobby offers free coffee in the morning. Our room did have two new interior doors. The carpet could use a good cleaning or removal.
