The Crowne Plaza is a late 1970s/early 1980s hotel that needs extensive renovation. Hallways, ceilings, windows, doors, fixtures, the bathrooms, etc. All feel original to the hotel's construction. ||||The lobby feels recently renovated but the decor is a weird mix of styles and color schemes. Nothing really fits together. There's certainly no theme. This is especially obvious in the hotel's bar and restaurant, Bordeaux. With a name like Bordeaux, you expect a French-themed bar and restaurant. Half the wall art are black-and-white photos of London, England. The rest are an assorted mix, including reproductions of French-looking art. ||||There's no club lounge, the parking is self-parking in an uncovered parking lot, I didn't see a bellman or doorman to assist with luggage, and no newspapers were anywhere to be found. There was no hotel directory in the room nor any laundry bags. Room service doesn't seem to be offered either.||||The gym is spacious and well-equipped, but it is not open 24/7. That's a little unusual.||||I booked a king premium room, which is one of the hotel's higher categories.||||My first room had hair on and under the toilet seat and mold or mildew in the bathtub. The front desk moved me to a new room and gave me a $20 credit for dinner.||||The second room also had hair on and under the toilet seat. ||||The windows in both rooms look like they have haven't been cleaned for years. Mold, dust, debris -- you name it. Just disgusting. ||||The third room, the two-room presidential suite numbered 534, was cleaner but still very dated and not terribly well-designed. For example, the door that separated the bedroom and bathroom from the living room closed and locked me out from the other half of the suite. There's no door stopper and no way to unlock that door when the suite is being used as a two-room presidential suite. The closet is in the living room and not the bedroom. They have special bedding for the bed, including at least five or six decorative pillows. But when you remove the decorative pillows, you're left with just two normal pillows to sleep with. There's no mini-fridge nor any bottled of waters provided. The vending machines have been removed and there's no club lounge.||||The hotel doesn't provide soap in guest rooms, not even in the presidential suite. Instead, you get a wall-mounted dispenser containing hand wash. The dispenser isn't tamper-proof and may or may not be full. In my case, the first two rooms had empty or half-empty dispensers. No dental kit, mouthwash, shoe mint, etc. are provided. A robe was in the closet, but no slippers. ||||These issues aside, two things that stood out about this hotel were the staff and the food. ||||Both of my meals (breakfast and dinner) were very good to excellent. The dinner menu is pretty extensive with something for everyone. Despite being called Bordeaux, the restaurant doesn't have French food. The breakfast menu was significantly more limited, but the food was equally as good. ||||All of the staff from the bar and restaurant to the front desk were superb. The kind of people I would hire if I owned or operated a hotel. Kudos to management for having a great staff.||||At the end of the day, the Crowne Plaza is a very old hotel that needs a...
Read moreThis was my first time staying at a Crowne Plaza and was, honestly, disappointed. May have been more for the fact that I only had one night and the hotel offers so much.
When first entering the hotel I noticed that the lobby and the entrance was very modern and clean. Front desk staff was friendly; however, he didn't give me much information on how to get to my room or otherwise (except for the basketball court).
Upon getting into the room, it was nice and spacious but had a bit of an 80's feel with the floor to ceiling mirrors attached to the closet doors and then a mirror decoration on the wall. Then, there's the bathroom which was small. The door almost hits the toilet. Definitely just a one person bathroom. I loved all the little extras throughout the hotel, though we did not take part in most. I do not recommend their shampoo. I have medium length hair and there was barely enough for just myself (I just have medium length hair), let alone my boyfriend.
After checking in we walked around the hotel to see where everything was located. Fitness Center and pool area was very clean. However, the basketball court was kind of overexaggerated... I would more just call it a hoop in a raquetball box, only use it for shooting hoops not actually playing.
The night sleep was amazing! Loved the beds and the pillows. My boyfriend would love to own one of those pillows!
My biggest disappointment was the breakfast buffet that I paid $11.95/person for. It was like a free hot breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express. Then our waitress only popped up once or twice while other waitresses covered for her.
Other than that, it was a nice hotel. But for the price (or points, since it was a rewards night), I'll probably stay somewhere especially when I'm just staying just one night and not eat at their restaurant...
Read moreI’m here to share an unpleasant experience that still hasn’t been resolved. The hotel is nice and there is a lot of parking and it would otherwise be a 5 star rating, but I’m still working with them about a charge that was posted and this is for the inconvenience that was brought to me.
We booked a night at this location in July and our booking has breakfast included. I looked through my credit card bill after our trip and noticed that we have a charge that was posted after we left from this hotel and later I found out it was from the breakfast restaurant. As there was no buffet breakfast provided during our stay the breakfast option was by ordering only. We confirmed with the front desk and also the restaurant staff that we can order whatever we like and it was never mentioned there’s a credit allowance of any sort and it was also not reflected in our booking. I called the hotel on 8/6 and was promised to have this credit taken out as they did realize that our booking has breakfast included, but later I got an email from the accounting department informing me that there was a credit limit in the breakfast which we were not informed of despite confirming twice. I found this to be completely unacceptable and deceptive. If we were told of the balance we would have make sure to order...
