Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Detroit Lakes — Hotel in Detroit Lakes

I had a difficult time deciding where to stay in Detroit Lakes area to attend a wedding. I am SO THANKFUL I chose Fairfield Inn. Descriptions Pics made it seem like normal nice place to stay but it is EXCELLENT. The entire room was unquestionably clean. Bed much more comfortable than most. Breakfast was much better than average free breakfast but more importantly an extremely nice lady was constantly keeping it spotlessly clean as she helped and checked on guests. Friendly and helpful front desk. We were very pleased and planned on taking time to give 5 star review.

On flight home to Texas realized we had left irreplaceable item in room. Called as soon as landed and front desk immediately assured me he had what we left. I was shocked it had been turned in. Am prob big city cynical having always lived in and usually travel to big cities. He asked how I would like them to handle sending to me. The manager PERSONALLY called me the next morning, handed her phone to person at local UPS center so I could arrange for next day delivery. Best hotel I've stayed at in quite a while. Fairly new, so everything is up-to-date. Appreciate the sliding front doors- easier to get the rolling cart through! Front desk staff was very nice- offered suggestions on where to get dinner and mentioned a nearby restaurant gives a discount to hotel guests. Good wifi signal, nice room- the bed was too firm for my preference but no more than most hotel beds. The bathroom had soft tissues, not the thin, scratchy ones you normally get in a hotel. Water pressure in the shower was really good (another area in which most hotels are lacking) and they had a wall hook just outside the shower- such a small detail but helpful. Other hotels need to realize that small things really do make a stay much nicer. Kudos to the woman in charge of the breakfast area- so nice! Asked me how my day was going, told me to bundle up since it was really cold, etc.- very pleasant and kind! I am not stranger overnight stays away from home. It is rare that a hotel excels at everything. Yet, this one did. Initially, I had to cancel a reservation last minute due to weather. My request was politely honored. I had a few opportunities to interact with the staff and found them to be courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about local dining. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. I usually request extra pillows. Here, there was no need. There were ample fluffy pillows. I slept well in a quiet room with a view of the lake. The internet was easy to access with no problems and I did have breakfast before leaving. I was on a low carbohydrate diet. So, when I chose an omelet, I expected the cheese to be the usual processed kind. I was pleased to find the omelet was made with real cheddar cheese. This was indeed a pleasant stay and the price...
