Pricey, but a beautiful place to stay and absolutely comparable to other inns in the area. Only issues: Could hear creaking floor above us, may not be fixable due to being an old estate. Could hear people in the hallway much more clearly than I'd like, this probably is fixable. The mini fridge was adorable, but noisy. Breakfast was an add on, but absolutely worth it. The added cost made the price similar to other places I viewed. Instead of continental or buffet, it was made to order. My husband got the breakfast sandwich and potatoes - simple ingredients that were high quality and well done. I got the "lox bagel" smoked salmon dish; it was build yourself, but was a platter with more than necessary for an open faced lox bagel and everything was perfect. I assume their dinner is worth it as well. The room was absolutely stunning; jacuzzi tub, huge shower, double sinks, and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever stayed in. I may have searched for the tag to see if I can buy one :)
If you have time - consider taking a quick 15min trip to the Beer Naked Brewery on top of Hogback; spectacular view, woodfired pizza, good beer. We chose this Inn as our stop on our two day road trip because we wanted to check out this brewery. Both did not disappoint! Also, coffee at the Starfire bakery! Probably their baked goods, too, but we already had so many goodies that we...
Read moreAll I can say is wow! This place is absolutely beautiful. They have done a fantastic job of keeping that old world appeal while modernizing the grounds with most of the creature comforts you are used to. The farmhouse rooms are amazing, and the inclusion of a real fire place and ample firewood was such a treat. The grounds are gorgeous, there is a fire burning outside all day long, and the skate rink is an added bonus. The Red Door bar on the ground floor is really cool with lit windows showing the original 1797 foundation and offering great cocktails, beer, and food. The restaurant, Sawmill Bar & Table, has excellent food for both breakfast and dinner and should not be overlooked if you stay here. If you're a corned beef hash fan like me, you NEED to get this in the morning as it is one of the best I've ever had. For dinner we enjoyed tender short ribs, cornmeal crusted cod with a shrimp cream sauce, fall off the bone baby back ribs, and some awesome cocktails. This has got to be the most refined cuisine I have ever had in Vermont and I have been heading up that way since I was a little kid. Cant recommend this...
Read moreWe stayed at The Villa a couple weeks ago for my wife's 40th birthday party with family and friends. What a cool combination of old school meets modern amenities. The house had everything we needed and the Sonos system was a huge plus as we had music playing most of the time. The hot tub was awesome and the master suite was really nice with a fireplace. We went to the restaurant for dinner one night and it was excellent. Wish we had gone back to try breakfast and will next time. I actually hired a private chef to cook dinner one night and he had all the room he needed to work. They even picked up flowers nearby that I had bought for my wife and set them up with a sign before we got there.
I dealt with the owner Mike and he was fantastic. Very prompt responses to questions and truly concerned with making sure you enjoy yourself. I am hard to please when it comes to service and attention to detail but Mike and his team at Farm Road Estate have done an incredible job and we will definitely be coming back. If you are coming to the area do yourself a favor and skip the hotel for an upgraded experience. You will be...
