Just stayed this past weekend at the Sugar Maple Inn. I thought the renovations were well done, but they are definitely going through some growing pains. My biggest complaint is that the owners who are prominently featured on the website were beyond unwelcoming. ||They hang out in the breakfast area and don't greet the guests (I said good morning to Julian, and he gave me a dirty look and walked into the back kitchen). Then I overheard him complaining about a guest to the handyman who fell backward on the steps the night before (the steps that they don't salt). The wife, Natalie seemed like she was taking care of their kids, but it was really bizarre that they didn't feel compelled at all to greet their guest. They made my boyfriend and me feel like an unwanted guest in their home. They are probably the least social innkeepers I have ever experienced, which is Ironic cause they named their restaurant "The Social." The Inn lacks detail and love. Besides the bizarre innkeeper, I thought it cost way too much for what you get. I would recommend an Airbnb compared to the cold, loveless Sugar Maple Inn I won't be back. ||Cons|1, Breakfast was cold eggs and potatoes with a bowl of blueberries with no serving spoon|2. They don't salt their front steps, which is probably why the guest that Julian was complaining about fell.|3. There is no housekeeping service unless you ask|4. The breakfast room is dark and cold|5. The bed was uncomfortable, and we were in their "signature room."|6. Cheap bathroom products and linens|7. Read moreWe did not stay at the Inn as we are homeowners in town, but we had dinner here on a Friday night this August. What a great job they did with this place! Unfortunately it was pouring rain the night of our dinner, but we could see how nicely manicured the grounds are and what a great space it would be for nicer weather. The inside lounge/restaurant space is gorgeous with tons of windows and a beautiful fireplace. |The meal for our family of 4 (kids 12 and 9) was excellent. Nobody left a bite on their plates. My wife and I had cocktails off their specialty menu which were excellent. Waitstaff was very attentive. Even the bartender came over to our table to see how we liked our drinks. Pricing for our meal was very reasonable. |During our dinner, there was a large party in the restaurant celebrating some time of event and they seemed to also be well taken care of. Seems like a great place to have a gathering. |Overall we are so happy to have another outstanding restaurant choice on Dover. We will...
