It's rather telling when a majority of the reviews fail to mention anything about the skiing and boarding. I've come here off and on over 30 years and consider myself an advanced skier attracted to demanding slopes. Mt. Snow is a groomer-lover's delight. Most everything is groomed perfectly, and groomed often. It gets icy as do most northeast mountains from time to time, and they do their best to ameliorate it with man-made snow. (which lasts about 3 hours). Being close to CT and the populous areas of NYC, there are copious numbers of tour buses and CT-plates which fill the resort to near-capacity, but the clientèle don't mind. They are used to being surrounded by 10,000 of their closest friends. Lift lines can be intimidating to look at. I'd estimate well over 500 people in the blue bubble chair lift line on a Saturday. The lines move as efficiently as management can make them. The lifts are high capacity and pour large numbers of skiers onto the slopes in short order. Very common to see 100 people at the mountain top and passed by dozens of skiers and boarders who enjoy blowing snow at you at mach schnell. The trails themselves lack personality. Some like Organgrinder are just a straight path from top to bottom. Mostly for those looking for a challenge, as OG gets rather tedious. Trails are generally moderate in grade, not many bumped up, which is what they want; money is in the hands of the green and blue skiers/riders. None of the black diamond trails are demanding. An upper-intermediate skier who has just become proficient at parallel skiing will do just fine. The bane of the high speed lift is that they are high off the ground and prone to wind holds. And Mt. Snow is addicted to high speed lifts. Nary a year goes by when Mt. Snow isn't completely shut down by wind hold on all by the tiniest lifts. Mt. Snow appeals to those who want to take a vacation, close to home. You will have your every off-piste need taken care of, and many customers demand it. If you like to go fast on groomed trails, with your front side carver skis, this is the place for you. A nice step up from a Bromley, more challenging than Stratton. If you like Okemo or Stratton, you'll like this place. When you want more of a challenge, head north to Sugarbush, MRG, Stowe or Jay. If you're happy to take a couple hours on the boards and the rest of the day on the deck, this is a great...
Read moreCalled ahead and was told Harriman's restaurant was open - the entire reason we went. To have kids swim and adults be at bar/restaurant. We arrived told it was closed. The vending machines on floor 3 and 2 both took money with no product. more than 1/2 arcade took our money - games broken. Told front desk and was told they do not give change or service the arcade. so we arrived and NO amenities were available or working. The deli posted open at 7am and did not open until 7:30. Why are you taking reservation when not ready. I am an employee and the staff member who was working on Thursday. I called and told Harrimans was to be open- the entire reason we went. we knew the mountain was not operating. SERIOUSLY IN TROUBLE IF THIS IS THE SERVICE BEFORE OPENING. i WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT ON THE PERSON WORKING THAT DAY - I AM AN EMPLOYEE AND SHOCKED BY THE LACK OF CARE. WHY.. When called was offered the 500 room. I went on line and so many rooms for 250 or less. . my grandson asked for change for the arcade and she was annoyed and told they do not do that , what customer service. I have styed here many times in my 25 years at Mt snow, this was awful and pointless. At 5 pm we all were discussing leaving, what was the point. No food, arcade or vending machines working?? What a waste of money. BEST PART i CALLED AHEAD, AS DID MY HUSBAND SO TOLD 2 TIMES HARRIMANS WAS OPEN. spent my holiday at a hotel for a getaway and could not leave fast enough. The town is like a old abandoned town, expected more from the Summit. 4th generation family ( from NH very chill) and you failed miserably, Will file a complaint on the employee who told...
Read moreIt has become an annual tradition to go to Oktoberfest at Mount Snow with a group of friends. This year we booked a “suite with a Mountain View” that slept 7 through Mount Snow’s website as a package with our Oktoberfest tickets. When we booked it, it said our suite was 100 yards from the event. We obviously assumed this meant Grand Summit. After the event was over, we went to check in to our room. The man at the front desk informed us that our suite was not at the Grand Summit but at the Lodge at Mount Snow. A little confused we left and went to this location down the road (not 100 yards) There was no one at the desk and our room key was sitting for us at the counter. We entered our room to see JUST one queen bed. When we tried to contact (by calling and going in person) to Mount Snow to try to get this obvious mistake figured out, the staff and manager were EXTREMELY condescending and rude. They told us they were not affiliated with the lodge at mount snow. And even though we bought our room through them, they could not help us. After reaching a point of frustration talking to incompetent people for almost two hours, the man working at the Lodge at Mount Snow found us a new place to stay. What used to be a great tradition for a group of friends who rarely see each other, turned out to be a very disappointing ending and I will never return to Mount Snow again. Horrible customer service and no desire to fix a mistake they...
