The hotel room was fine. Not super modern (but I didn't expect that it would be), but was clean and had all the amenities the description said it would include. However, I have had a terrible experience with fraudulent charges to my credit card. I visited my parents, so they paid for my hotel room via their rewards points. My mom called the day I was scheduled to check-in to see what would be required of me regarding providing a credit card and such (standard practice, regardless of if the room is already paid for). Originally, she was told that I would have to provide a credit card and they would place a $100 hold on it. Someone else called back later that evening to let us know that I would actually have to have a hold on my account for $250 because the person booking the room (my father) had a local zip code. It did not matter that I personally live in DC because he booked the room. I was annoyed by this, but at least they called to tell us. I checked in on Saturday April 3rd and left the morning of April 4th, which was Easter. When I checked in, the gentleman at the desk said that, unless there were chargeable damages, the charge would be refunded the next business day. I checked my card that Monday and had 3 separate charges pending: one for $100, one for $250, and one for $85 dollars and some change. So, they charged me for the price of the room (even though it was paid in full via my parents' reward points) and BOTH of the deposit/standard hold amounts rather than just one of them which is what I should have been charged. I called to talk to someone and spoke to the desk staff who said they would contact the manager on call. They said the charges would be reversed. I then checked my card a bit later and there was a FOURTH pending charge for $60. My mom called on her lunch break and spoke to the manager, Denise, who said she had refunded all of the charges. I called later that evening after work to speak to Denise, and she told me they would be refunded. She explained the first 3 charges and their amounts, though she understood and agreed that I never should have been charged for them, but also stated that she had no idea what the $60 charge would have been for because they have nothing that has a default $60 charge. She said she had to speak to the individual that charged it because she had no clue, but they had not answered her texts. She said, at the latest, she would talk to them Tuesday when they came in for their shift. I received no updates on Tuesday. I checked my card on Wednesday and the charges were NOT yet reversed and were now fully on my card as opposed to pending. I tried calling Denise again and have received no response. The front desk staff said they tried to call Denise for over an hour and also had not heard back. I am now actively disputing the charges with my credit card company, who says they see nothing on their end to indicate that Days Inn has pending reversals of the charges. Thank goodness I had the money and it didn't negatively impact my immediate finances, but not everyone has that privilege. This has been an awful experience and I have yet to receive any type of adequate response from the hotel manager, Days...
Read moreAlthough I was initially grateful that Days Inn in Breezewood, PA was able to accommodate our late scheduled 6/20/21 stay, it has turned into a nightmare. We checked in late, since this was an unscheduled stop, and when we got to the room, the full length mirror on the wall was askew. No worries. We didn’t need it. We just needed a place to sleep. The next morning, while showering, we noticed hair in the bathtub, and one of the towels had make-up on it, like the towels had not been changed out. Not a problem. I cleaned up the hair and was able to find a clean towel. While brushing our teeth, we noticed the the trim around the bathroom mirror was falling off the wall. No worries. We could still use the mirror. During checkout, I notified the office staff of the issues. We didn’t mind it, we were grateful to have a place to sleep, but the next inhabitants might not be so generous. Fast forward to 7/3/21, and there is an unexpected 108.00 charge to my credit card from Days Inn. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and called Days Inn. When I called, I was advised the additional charge was because there were items missing from the room. I was adamant there was not. The employee advised she would pull the paperwork and call me back. I never received a phone call. I called back, spoke to the same lady again, and this time was advised the additional charge was for damage to the room. I advised there was damage, but it was there before we arrived, and that we had even reported it at checkout as a courtesy. She advised she would pull the paperwork and have someone call me back. Still no call. I have stayed at dozens of hotels over the years and never have I been treated like this. We are planning another trip to the area in the up coming months, but I will never, ever give Days Inn in Breezewood, PA any additional business. I would rather sleep in my car than be charged for their inability to maintain their facility. It’s a disgraceful way to do business, and management...
Read moreFront desk staff nice and check in was quick. I think I pre-registered so it moved things along. I stopped here to get out of the storm that was on the turnpike. I'd stayed here before, so felt comfortable staying again. This room was not as favorable as the last. The hotel was in no way full overnight, but I got placed on the 2nd floor and had to drag my stuff up there. I was situated on a hallway as well so I found a chair and sat on the balcony area overlooking the run down area next door (the tiled lot). I thought the description said mountain view, but I may be mistaken. By the time I landed here, the rain had stopped...go figure. The hotel grounds were in a shambles in spots with debris piled here and there, specifically in front of the main entrance. If it's under reno, which is drastically needed, then it's understandable. The room itself was just ok. Carpet and old fixtures. Fine. Bed was comfy. Warm in the room and who puts the AC up in the corner of the room on the wall. I should have called maintenance, but I decided to climb on that old easy chair, stand on its arms and adjust the temp myself. Hindsight is 20/20. Overall the bed was comfy and the room clean enough. The Wi-fi is still poor. It should have been addressed by now, considering it was mentioned in my last review 2 years ago. Someone should have looked into it by now. Despite the fact I was there starting my mini road trip and it was for 'leisure', there are times I work 'from home'. Fortunately I was not asked to do so because it would have been impossible with the unattainable wifi. In this day and age, wifi is of utmost importance whether for leisure, watching Hulu or important work tasks. Breakfast was most accommodating with varied food choices. Coffee was terrible. I went to the gas station for coffee after I checked out. I didn't use the pool. The ice machine was functional. You charge too much...
