We stayed here twice - once for a week on our way west (visiting our son who lives nearby) and the second on our way home for 2 nights. Probably wouldn't have stayed there the 2nd time but already had a paid reservation and was just a short stay.
At first glance, hotel is fine. Looks clean, offers breakfast, economical. However, no one was at the front desk when we arrived - from what I've seen they have a very small staff so they must multitask. Room was large w/king sized bed. Had a fridge and microwave. TV worked great and there were many channel options. However, there was no dresser to put clothes in. Normally, not an issue but we were staying there for a week and would have been nice to have a place for my clothes. Bathroom was very small and seriously needed an upgrade. No towel racks were provided (I normally hang them up for reuse). There's a light in the frame of the headboard on the bed with no switch (that we could find) to turn it off. We finally unplugged it - which meant that the charging ports didn't work either.
The second day, some construction was taking place on the roof just outside our window. We had come back early to take a nap, so extremely annoying.
Our biggest issue was with housekeeping. They came by every day. Most days they just replaced towels and moved on. Didn't even empty garbage cans. I asked several times for an extra towel - but only left one once, then went back to two towels. They didn't leave extra toilet paper or soap - had to go down to the desk to request when extremely low. Requested that the bed be made several times but only made when we were in the room. One day they completely skipped us. It was Sunday so we thought they didn't offer the service that day. Asked at the front desk who said he would tell them they had skipped our room. All they did was drop off towels.
During the 2nd stay wasn't concerned about lack of storage or housekeeping service. However, the toilet didn't work well and clogged the first time it was used. They don't have a maintenance man on staff so my husband was able to get a plunger from the front desk and clear it himself. After that you had to hold the handle down until the bowl cleared or it wouldn't flush. REALLY UNACCEPTABLE. In addition, the shower curtain rod was almost coming out of the wall and shower curtain wouldn't stay closed. Ended up with water all over the floor.
Overall, the main problem with the hotel is a lack of staff. Only one person at the desk so if anything comes up, no one is there. That person also handles breakfast (which was surprisingly good) so items would run out as he went back and forth. Only saw just two housekeeping staff so that service was lacking as they had 4 stories to deal with. Then, no maintenance available when needed. We don't plan on...
Read moreI just read a review from a month ago that summed up a lot of our experience. There was no toilet paper or soap in the rooms. The place is under construction. According to the front desk clerk, it has been for the last couple of years. The construction crew is keeping the work areas clean, and the renovations look good. However, our bathroom light switch is broken, with part of the inside of the switch exposed. I am an electrician by trade, so that jumps out at me. Along those lines, I noticed that the last elevator inspection was in 2019, although I'm unsure of the local code requirements for inspections. We arrived late at night, and this was a last minute booking. The front desk wanted to charge us 1 1/2 times the rate we found on Price Line, so our rate was cheap, $47. After we asked for toilet paper, the desk clerk scrounged 1/2 a roll from the lobby men's room, which looked like a war zone. There was no soap to be found, but he did give us extra conditioner, which was nice. We asked if there were vending machines, and told there were none. When we turned on the heat in the room, it only blew cold air. We called the desk, and he said maintenance was on the way, only to call back a few minutes later, saying maintenance had left for the night, and he offered to change rooms. We stuck with our room. The night clerk assured us that the continental breakfast would include hot food, but the morning clerk informed us that they weren't allowed to have hot food until construction is complete. I feel sympathy for the clerks. The night guy seemed like he's taking complaints constantly and trying to keep everyone calm, knowing there's not much he can do. The morning clerk seemed a tad more honest about things, but they both said one statement almost word for word. They both said it was embarrassing. I'm only giving this the lowest ratings because there's no excuse for no toilet paper and soap. Wal Mart and Walgreens are both right there. I hope they turn things around. For the moment, this OK hotel...
Read moreThis was an awful experience. It started with the reservation. I'm a Gold Choice Hotels member, but after speaking with the hotel manager, I had to call the reservation staff. I told bother the manager and the call center that we have 5 in our party and they both told me the rooms only had a 4 person occupancy. I was told we would need 2 rooms because they only had suites with 2 queen beds and that i would need 2 rooms. I used points for one room and paid out of pocket for the other. When we checked in, we found both rooms each had two queens AND a fold out sofa bed, making the need for a second room pointless. We have constantly stayed in rooms of this configuration and have always been able to house all 5 adults in one room. In fact, we were traveling back from 2 weeks in Los Angeles in a room of the EXACT SAME configuration; we all stayed in he same room. I tried to get a credit for a room but was told we couldn't get a credit because we had already checked in. I called the reservation call center and was told the same; that we had already checked in, so we might as well use both rooms (we did not). I threatened to have my bank cancel the charges and was told by the call center that they would dispute the reversal. In the morning, I tried to open the second room to record that we did not use the room and found that our key to that room was deactivated. When trying to get back into the room we stayed in, I found that key had also been deactivated. It was only 8:30 in the morning, well before the 11am checkout time. I wasn't going to mention the construction all over or the fact that our room door had a large gap and wouldn't lock with either the dead bolt or the swing lock. But you should know that this is not a safe room and the management WILL rip you off. We're loyal Choice Hotel members, and I WOULD NOT...
