This is THE gem of Emerald Isle hotels. I am a stickler for cleanliness. Even in $400+/night hotels, I am often disappointed. Now that I am battling breast cancer, my standards are even higher. I can say, 100 percent, this is the cleanest, most thoughtfully attended hotel I have ever stayed in. (Including resorts outside of the states) Now, that is only one aspect of my happiness & gratitude with our stay. The owner/manager was truly a delight to interact with. So much so, that I looked much more deeply into this hotel after our encounter. What a heartfelt story! She was such a pleasure to me and my adult children, and absolutely amazing to my younger children... and she has no idea how badly my family needed this short little getaway. We had only 2 days between some major life events/changes that are coming on all too quickly. It is a very emotional time in our lives. The location is very ideal, and only a short, easy walk to the beach. (Even for me, straight out of surgery.) The lobby, room, and decor are absolutely perfect! So many genuinely wonderful touches throughout. Front desk staff was pleasant, and even offered an adorable beach cruiser for us to use. It was the perfect center focus of the lobby. The fact that it is there for guest use just solidifies my every opinion here. Maybe one day we will actually be able to utilize such a dreamy offer. Around the hotel has a very sophisticated beach vibe/theme. The AC worked exceptionally well, black out curtains were perfect, linens and toiletries were swanky. Rooms were spacious, well kept, and modern-cozy. Not cozy as in small. Cozy as in relaxing, peaceful, and welcoming. Breakfast was a very unexpected change from the normal hotel options, but still included all of the kids' go-to favorites... plus, some new bars have now been set! The beds were very comfortable, which I can rarely say when staying away from home. Again, the level of cleanliness still has me in awe. With two busy toddlers in tow, and being immunocompromised, the things I have to check are overly scrupulous. I did not have to take out a single cleaning product that I've become accustomed to traveling with. I was able to come in, inspect, and focus solely on family time and rest. What a blessing! We have come to Emerald Isle a handful of times in the last 1.5 years, but never overnight, as I had yet to find suitable accommodations. This. Place. Is. It. Our family will forever come back!! To the owner/manager, your kindness actually brought tears to my eyes, and your hotel exudes class and devotion. The thought, time, work, and finances you have poured into there with such love will forever be ingrained on my heart....
Read moreWe have not been pleased with the customer service we received from this hotel. We booked under a wedding block and we couldn't wait for the fun to begin. We trusted the hotel to have the right dates for the wedding block but it turns out they didn't because they charged us for an extra night. We brought it to their attention but they had no intentions of crediting the card.
As you can see from other reviews here, the walls are thin! Very thin. They act like the hotel is a library. And that the guests should be extra quiet because their walls are so thin. That is not a good way to start a vacation. You can not have fun if you can't even talk in the lobby or your room for that matter. We came in late from the rehearsal dinner and we were told right away to be extra quiet. The lady at the front desk actually told us that we should have been spanked more as children and that way we could have followed THEIR directions better. I mean who says that to their hotel guests?
The bride of the wedding worked well in advance to line up this wedding block. She was very upset about the extra night's charge and even called on our behalf. Again, there was zero response for the manager. There is a brand new hotel being built in the area, so the Lighthouse will not have the monopoly any longer. That is wonderful news for vacationers, family reunions, girl's weekend getaways, and wedding parties. When the Lighthouse starts losing business they will be more responsive to their paying guests and take things like an overcharge into consideration. I have a feeling that the new hotel won't have walls so thin that guests complain about hearing...
Read moreUpon check in , everything was good. Rooms are clean , however the strong scent of Fabuloso killed my nose and eyes. That night, we got back to our room and we had no clean towels, no sign of any housekeeping , so I went downstairs to get shampoo , towels, coffee pods, etc. although we requested housekeeping services with our door sign when we left for the day. No apology, but the guy at the front desk was fairly pleasant. Later that night , I realized that the walls were super thin. Believe the other reviews on this. You can hear EVERY word in the next room and we were next to 2 very loud kids. There might as well be a curtain between the rooms. It was unreal. The next morning, the kitchen was out waffle batter, the main thing my husband wanted. This morning , checkout is 10 am, we were 11 minutes late getting out of the room. We took some stuff to the car, and were immediately locked out of our room. We went downstairs and the front desk lady seemed aggravated by this. She got the door unlocked and said “ be out in 10 minutes”. We realize we were 11 minutes late, but that comment pissed us off.( Up until then , we let all the other stuff go, because life is short) She could have said “ The doors will automatically lock in 10 minutes” in a pleasant tone. . I will say that the rooms were clean and they don’t use cheap toiletries. I was impressed by the fact that they use Pharmalogical products. Breakfast was good but needs to be replenished , so that guests don’t have to ASK for it to be. In spite of everything, it’s an ok hotel if you don’t expect too much and are ok with hearing your...
