This is the only hotel in Emmitsburg! It is often priced very reasonably, too. The reason I enjoy staying here is because it's connected to the rest of the town and I am able to comfortably walk anywhere in town. I typically get rooms here when I'm looking for a bit more privacy than staying with my family will allow me. The breakfast is pretty good also! I really enjoy the vintage style and cylindrical stand up shower stalls.

To the Management of Sleep Inn, Emmitsburg, Maryland:
I am writing to express significant disappointment regarding an interaction with your hotel manager and several long-standing issues with your property. My husband and I are extremely loyal customers, regularly staying at this Sleep Inn, often for extended periods while visiting town to see family. In the past year, we estimate we have spent nearly $2,000 or more at your establishment, utilizing various room types, including the whirlpool suite once or twice as a treat for ourselves.
Incident with Hotel Manager
On October 3rd, my husband and I felt profoundly disrespected by the hotel manager's behavior. As a self-employed social media manager and technology professional my work schedule often runs late, which occasionally requires us to re-book our room late in the day. The manager's handling of a recent situation was unprofessional and did not make us feel valued as consistent, paying guests.
The interaction was particularly concerning because she threatened to withhold our deposit and her overall demeanor was hostile. As frequent guests, we expect to be treated with respect and a basic level of customer service, which was completely absent in this encounter.
Specific Hotel Service Issues
In addition to the issue with the manager, I must also point out several other areas that need urgent attention:
Pet Deposit Overcharge: We were charged an incorrect amount for the pet deposit on our recent stay. Please review our bill and correct this immediately.
Non-Operational Amenities: The hotel continues to advertise a pool that has been out of service for a significant amount of time (it's been years). Charging premium rates while advertising and failing to provide promised amenities is misleading.
High Rates and Lack of Competition: While I understand the local market, the rates charged at times are disproportionately high given the level of customer service and the lack of functioning amenities.
Requested Resolution
While the overcharge and non-functional amenities are frustrating, the primary source of our complaint is the manager's conduct.
We request the following actions to resolve this matter:
A formal apology for the disrespectful way the manager treated my husband and me.
A review and refund of the pet deposit overcharge.
We value the convenience of your location, but unless these serious issues, particularly the lack of professional customer service, are addressed, we will be forced to seek alternative accommodation options during our once monthly visits to Emmitsburg, regardless of the distance.
I look forward to your prompt response and a plan of action to ensure your most loyal guests are treated with the respect we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAgain visited the area this year, once again had my dog with me, again had an odor in the room, was in room 128 this year, room 130 last year. This room is a designated pet room, but would be nice if they would put something down on the carpet prior to sweeping to help soak up the odor (Went to WalMart and bought a can of Air Freshener which helped) . The carpeting could also use a good steam clean, my socks were pretty dirty every night from walking on the carpeting. I did notice that it appeared that the nightstand had not been moved in a while as there was dirt buildup between the bed and night stand. The air conditioning unit had a horrible vibration at times, we figured it out that something was loose on the front, we would move it a little bit and it would quiet down, the sink faucet leaked, when I would turn on cold water, it would come out of the hot water handle, should be a simple fix, did not report either issue until checkout, was not that big of a deal, hopefully they will have them repaired. One suggestion, and I really hope that you will do this, is since the rooms that are designated for pets are all the way at the end of the building, please install key card access on the side exit door so we can get back into the building without having to put something into the door to prop it open, which I did, and one time right after I went out, someone, I believe someone from maintenance took out the item I had in the door and closed it, which meant I had to walk all the way around the front of the building (and no its not that far of a walk, its just an inconvenience), and then walk all the way back to the end of the building to get to my room, (Again not that far of a walk, it is just an inconvenience. Again like my review last year, I still believe that $25 a night (it is a max of $50 though) to be able to have a pet in your room is a bit much, I have stayed at places that charge $25 for the entire stay, you apparently are not doing anything different with cleaning that justifies an additional $50 to allow me to have my pet with me. One more thing on the odor in the room, it may have to do with the carpeting, it will hold odors in, I would think that a pet friendly room would have either a laminate, or tiled floor, for ease of cleanup if a pet makes a mess in the room and so there is not something for the odors...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToo bad I can't leave a zero feedback! I stayed at the hotel about six or seven weeks ago for the weekend so they will local antique show and I came back to do another one this coming weekend. When I showed up there was this "person" standing outside in shorts and combat boots smoking a cigarette. Not a good look but I figured hey customers do what they like. once I walk in I realized oh that's the hotel clerk. Again not a good look! I explained to this "person" that I wanted to stay three nights, this evening tomorrow evening and Sunday evening and leave Monday morning to go back to Florida. She tells me the rate is $179. Per night! I'm not Los Angeles, I'm Emmitsburg Maryland! I explained that I was just there a few weeks ago and paid only about $80 per night she immediately accused me of being nasty and told me I better change my tone and blah, blah, blah! She doesn't make the rules etc etc. I told her look up the rate that I paid and you can see. She says take it up with the general manager I said fine let me talk to her! she said she's sleeping. So I said fine I'll call her later give me her telephone number she offers to give me her email address! Yeah that'll work! how often do people check their emails?! I just drove over 20 hours from south Florida! I need a room to rest!! Anyway,, I'll never stay at that place again! I do five or six shows per year in this area. What I will do it's called corporate! This is the single most unprofessional nasty "human being" I've ever...
