My fiancé and I stayed at this resort for one night on February 8 and our experience was awful. I encourage you to read the full review on TripAdvisor, as it goes into detail the utter lack of care regarding our situation. Abridged version: Right after we left the resort, my fiancé realized he had left an extremely sentimental earring in the bathroom. My fiancé immediately called the resort and was very detailed with what the earring looked like, where it was and how important this earring was to us. This earring was a small, colorful, stud in a location that my fiancé knew would be hard to find. It wasn’t lost, we knew exactly where it was. We called at 10:30, knowing we still technically had 30 minutes before the room was no longer ours. Instead of walking the short distance to our room and grabbing the earring, the front desk did not take our call seriously. They didn’t call us back, they didn’t relay any of the important details about the earring to housekeeping, and they didn’t retrieve the earring before the next guests checked in. After days of numerous unreturned phone calls and tearful in-person visits, we were relieved at the news that the earring was found! Unfortunately, when my fiancé arrived to get his late mother’s earring, the front desk handed him a pair of gold hoop earrings. These were not the earrings my fiancé described and it proved our suspicion that nobody was listening to our cries for help from the very beginning. Mind you, we stayed here for one night and spend over a thousand dollars. Not only are we heartbroken by this totally preventable loss, we feel like we got scammed out of a resort experience. UPDATE: It gets worse. Just like all the other reviews on Google and TripAdvisor, we got a personalized response from Hacienda. The response is vague, takes no responsibility, and still claims that the “team” did everything they could from the beginning. If that’s the case, we would still have that earring. Also, if they truly worked diligently from the start, then explain the gold hoops. If there were multiple managers dedicated to locating the earring, why was it so difficult to get a call back? Out of curiosity, I copied and pasted Summer’s response into three different AI detector websites and each one came back with the same result: 100% AI generated text. 0% human written. I checked a few more of her responses and it looks like Summer only utilizes ChatGPT for negative reviews. This is problematic for a couple of reasons. If part of your job is to read and respond to customer reviews (good AND bad), and the only ones you give genuine human responses to are the positive reviews, then you’re not doing your job. It is also VERY problematic for the environment due to its high energy consumption water usage to create a single ChatGPT response. Southern Arizona is in an extreme long-term drought and resources globally are limited enough as it is. Summary: If you’re going to waste your money at this “resort”, leave your valuables at home. Hacienda Del Sol does not care about their guests or their belongings. There is an obvious culture of laziness when it comes to the work ethic of the front desk and management of this establishment. That has been proven to us numerous times during this awful experience, starting from that first phone call and ending with this AI generated cop-out. We could not be more disappointed in the management and front desk of Hacienda Del Sol for how they treated us. We are overcome with sadness at the realization that the earring is gone forever, and anger because we know it could have been found if somebody, anybody, had cared enough to do something. We will never return to this establishment and we will continue to share our story with our friends and clients. I’m a real human being typing this review, expressing my frustration at the lack of human decency we received from Hacienda Del Sol. These two reviews reflect how my fiancé and I, two human beings, felt we were treated during and after our stay. After ALL this, the least you could do is give a...

This will be a long one but I intend to cover both good and bad. Let me start by saying we were in town for a wedding and had the wedding not been on the grounds we would of left after the first day. We arrived stressed out due to delays and rescheduled flights, we check in I give them my credit card, the same one I called to make sure was on file and going to be charged, the same one I faxed in paperwork for due to the amount of the charge for staying a week.

We immediately go to bed and wake up to find the resort charged both my card and my significant others card for over $4000. Because they hit her card for so much her cards daily amount was maxed giving her no access to her money. Also, her bank takes pending charges out of her account so she had no money left. It took us two days of hounding the staff over and over to get them to send an email to the bank acknowledging error, despite the fact they acknowledged the mistake the second we went down the first morning. They swore they sent the email the first day but the bank assured us they received nothing.

Next we learned that there is over $50 in extra charges that they decide to pile onto the rate. One of which is for valet. The valet pull in is literally 10 feet from the parking lot. It takes the same amount of effort to valet as it does to just park yourself. We didn't use the valet once and yet still paid for it for everyday of our stay. One of the other charges was unlimited water, something that is standard at every hotel. The whole addition of fees was a joke really, if they need the extra revenue they should put it into the room cost, don't try to add it after the fact, it's shady to say the least.

The grounds are beautiful and have some amazing views. However, be careful what rooms you book because my buddy booked an "upgrade" inside was comparable to our historic but the view was horrid. Just a bunch of plants and trees.

The room was subpar, while I know historic is going to lack certain updated qualities there was a few things that were irritating. The carpet looks about 20 years old and looked dirty. There were no outlets near the bed for charging of phones. The room was really small. The pictures shown online for these rooms did not equate to what we received. I can say the bed was amazing, easily one of the best beds we've slept on. We went down to Sedona for a night and the 70 dollar room we stayed in did laps around this one. On our way out we were behind a gentleman that had the same complaints and he was in a free upgrade room. He ended up paying more the be upgraded again. That speaks volumes.

We were roomed above some kind of metal gate that is spring assisted. So all night until 2 to 3 in the morning you'd hear this gate slam closed from people using it. I understand smaller logistics issue like these tend to slip unnoticed but it's worth mentioning. It's also worth mentioning that we were directly next to the restaurant and bar, which had very large parties going a couple of the nights. We could hear people yelling. If you're a night owl it probably wouldn't bother you but we did alot of hiking and were exhausted come 10 or 11.

Overall, billing issues aside, we just didn't feel that what you receive is anywhere near what they are charging. I worked at a luxury hotel in Maryland, it was leaps and bounds ahead of this place for the same price. There is a never ending list of places to stay in the area. I'd highly recommend...

Where do I even begin? Hacienda del Sol is absolutely breathtaking—truly one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. From the stunning landscaping and thoughtful decor to the rich history and exceptional attention to detail, every aspect of this property is simply amazing.

The gift shops? Awesome. The restaurants? Incredible. The service? Top-notch. The rooms are gorgeous, and the views are spectacular. The entire property feels so intentional, and the level of care in every detail really shines through.

I’d like to give special recognition to a few staff members who made my experience unforgettable:

Missel (Event Staff Manager) – He was incredibly helpful, kind, and always on top of everything. Beyond that, you could see how much he genuinely cared for his team, making them feel motivated and excited to be there. His positive energy was infectious.

Logan and Roberto (Event Managers) – Their pride in their work and proactive, friendly attitudes made such a difference.

Julian/Julio(?) (Restaurant Manager) – He handled every situation with kindness and professionalism, and it was clear that he deeply values both his team and the guest experience.

Jacob (Waiter) – Jacob went above and beyond to make my dinner extraordinary, despite an earlier interaction with a hostess who refused to seat me as a solo diner (even though there were several empty tables). Jacob made sure I was accommodated and provided exceptional service.

Violet (Restaurant Hostess) – Violet was an absolute delight! She welcomed me with warmth and went above and beyond to ensure I felt seen and appreciated. Her passion for her work was so evident and refreshing.

Alicia (Front Desk) – Wonderful and attentive, she made check-out and everything else seamless.

Adolfo (Night Staff) – Adolfo was incredibly helpful, ensuring I had everything I needed during my stay.

While my overall experience was incredible, I do want to note an unfortunate interaction with one of the hostesses. Her dismissive attitude during my group reservation and her reluctance to seat me as a solo diner on a separate occasion left a negative impression. I also witnessed her being belittling to Jacob in front of me, which was uncomfortable to see. I did bring this to Juliana attention. This seems like an area for improvement, especially for a property that likely welcomes many solo travelers.

That said, the kindness and professionalism of staff like Missel, Jacob, Violet, Logan and Julian more than made up for these moments. Their passion for hospitality truly set the tone for an otherwise unforgettable stay. I highly recommend Hacienda del Sol and look forward to returning again...
