We had such a lovely stay at La Paloma through June 1st -3rd. All the staff that we came in contact with went above and beyond first off. || We were immediately greeted from the desk by Catia, Travis and Jannelle. All three had the most up lifting and such a welcoming vibe. They all interacted with not only my husband and I. They also spoke to our two children which made them feel so special, my children continued to tell us through out the stay how special that made them feel. They made our check in so smooth and took such amazing care of us. Jannelle recognized that we have stayed before and went above and beyond with helping us with luggage assistance from Lino he was amazing, to providing extra drink and breakfast vouchers to make it an even more memorable stay. It absolutely worked. || This was our second time eating at the restaurant within but our first since the new remodel ( La Luz ) and both times were anything from a disappointment. Our sever Magda was truly the sweetest and so on top of it. The food was cooked to absolute perfection and the portion was more than any of us could eat. I def recommend the ( chicken and waffles ($21) my husband choice, acai bowl ($14) my son's choice, on the kids menu silver dollar pancakes ($16) my daughter's choice and last my choice was rise & shine ($23).|| Our favorite place was for the pools! The slide is always such a big hit with the kids and my husband, my daughter and son really took a special liking to Zsa Zsa she was so kind to them and on our last day my daughter was going to go down the slide one last time when she slipped and fell and hit so hard busting her skin open Zsa Zsa saw it from all the way at the top of the slide and acted immediately by coming down and closing off the slide for just a brief moment to assess my daughter's injury, she got a bag of ice and a towel for us she personally check in with my daughter and was so kind to even give her a hug when my daughter asked and thanked for her for all her help and being so kind to them during our stay. My daughter was so sad to leave on our last day because she knew she wouldn't be able to see Zsa Zsa anymore! Thank you for leaving such a wonderful impression. | My kids loved the non-alcoholic frozen daiquiris ($8) at the pool bar (mango and strawberry) so refreshing on a hot day. I enjoyed a Paloma Colada ($21) which was used due to our drink vouchers.|| Last but not least HK.. I could not find a DND sign in our room so I improvised and used a post note and stuck it to the door and within moments HK came and provided a sign without being asked. Jannelle also had arranged for extra towels, wash clothes and toiletries to be brought to us because we were staying a few days, we had the pleasure of having Ed bring them and he was so fast and very courteous to our kids who answered the door, they had forgotten to give him the tip and I called and spoke with Jannelle and she assured me not to worry about it and that she would take care or it. I thanked her. | My daughter and I walked to the office and repaid her, while we were there Jannelle said I have something for you both and stepped away for just a brief second and had come back with these little care packages that she personally made for us that had lavender loose leafs, lavender bath salts, and a bath steamer. Such a treat. I also had mentioned how lovely the shampoo, conditioner, lavender oil, and lotion was she supplied us with a couple more which came in clutch as I got so sun burnt! The lotion helped so much as it has aloe in it even with the amazing sent it did not burn my skin but left it feeling so cooled and soft. Last thing I was so impressed to see by the bedside table there was a little vile of lavender oil!!! I've never seen this anywhere we've stayed and it was a blessing it helped put my daughter to sleep at night. All the products smelled like a SPA! the sent was literally intoxicating I couldn't get enough of it. You could tell the products were very good! the shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling like I had just gotten done at the salon so soft and nourishing.|| We truly had such an amazing stay that we are currently planning another stay before summer is over for the kids! Thank you to the entire staff at La Paloma for making us feel like royalty. We appreciate you and all your hard work.||P.s make sure you try the GELATO!!! Jannelle recommend it and boy it didn't disappoint. ( Birthday cake, Strawberry) and if you mix those two flavors the kids said it tasted like...
Read moreVery sad and disappointing! 😔 I had done over a week's worth of research, countless hours of comparing locations, narrowing it down to the Westin La Paloma resort and spa in Tucson for a much-needed mini vacay for me and my husband. The amenities and pictures as well as the grounds were exactly what we were looking for. After being rerouted three or four times when I first called, I got a wonderful young lady at the service desk whose name started with the letter A who answered all of my questions. I explained to her the importance of this weekend, how my husband works 7 days a week and we wanted to get away for a few days. How we live 2 hours away, one way, and had chosen this resort for the reasons above. She was very nice and professional and made me feel like we were about to embark on a wonderful weekend. Unfortunately she did not have the ability to reserve the specific room that we were wanting to stay in and explained that this was done by a "different department" which I still don't understand why. In fact it is nearly impossible to reserve a room of this kind online. You must contact someone in person to do so We had budgeted over $1,000 to spend on this very special weekend :( you would think someone would want to make the sale! She transferred me to the "said sales person" who did not answer. I left a detailed message regarding the special occasion, the timeline, and the great service I had received from the previous person. The message in part said " I will return the call at MY earliest convenience " which I thought was kind of cold. Giving them the benefit of the doubt I assumed I would receive a call within the hour, I NEVER got a call back. About 5 hours later that day I called back and got rerouted several times. No one ever answered! I called a few minutes later, another three times and the same thing happened. Finally I chose to select number one on the prompt and spoke to someone in customer service/ reservations who was very nice and professional but also told me that I had to call the resort directly to book this "type" of room as he could not do so either!! He actually confirmed that it is impossible to do this on the website. !?!? So yet again..... I proceeded to call the resort back for a total now of 8 times and finally after being rerouted four more times I got the same lady I had talked to that morning. I was very happy that I got the same person, she was again nice and professional. After I explained the situation, she apologized and told me to let her make sure the sales rep (the one that didn't call back) was at her desk so "she can answer your call" before transferring me. This was about 1:55pm. She actually put me on hold for about 2 to 3 minutes. In that conversation everything alluded to this person being available. With the amount of time I was put on hold I expected to speak to this person and finally make my reservation. That did not happen! Instead I was told that this person was leaving at 2:00 p.m. and that I, that I needed to call back the next day between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. ! Seriously 😳 Would you not think that if you have already mentioned several times that you want to give them your hard-earned $ that they would want to take it?! I was very disappointed and saddened by this! The next morning I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and called back. I made contact right away with a different person at the front desk, also very nice and professional, name started with V. I asked to speak to the GM and was again put on hold. She came on and apologetically explained that the manager was in a " meeting " and if I gave her my email/ phone number he would "try" and get back to me. She said he is really nice and is good about doing that kind of thing. (Must have to do it often🤔) By this time it's clear that they didn't want to take our money nor serve us in any capacity so I respectfully declined. This was supposed to be a special occasion that was now ruined for us. Because of the timeline we will be staying home instead 😢 The world truly has changed...
Read moreThis place 100% completely and absolutely ruined our wedding honeymoon. The worst experience of my entire life. They had every single service and amenity shut down and boarded up during our stay for renovations and made zero attempt to notify us prior to our stay so that we’d have the opportunity to stay somewhere else.
When we arrived we discovered that the entire resort was under renovation with every single imaginable amenity and service shut down and not available (other than the pool and room service – which we could have gotten staying anywhere else). See my photos. They literally just gutted everything and everything was trashed. Absolutely terrible. We booked our stay many months in advance and there was zero notice about any renovation at that time. Zero attempt was ever made by Westin to notify us about this change in our stay. By the time we were there we tried to cancel and go somewhere else but by then every other local resort was already booked solid for the week. So we were stuck suffering in a complete hell hole.
What all did they shut down? Pretty much everything. Completely shut down with zero availability AND boarded up and looking like trash:
every single bar at the entire resort – shut down
Poolside service – shut down (no, literally, you could not even order anything from the pool, not even a water)
Poolside bar – shut down
Breakfast restaurant – shut down
All day snack and coffee/espresso café – shut down
Entire main resort building and all seating and relaxing areas – shut down
Gift shop – shut down
And that’s just the big stuff this horrible hellish place got wrong. They got everything else wrong too. Unfortunately google reviews won’t allow a long enough post to discuss everything.
Upon arrival to our room we discovered multiple items broken. Back to the front desk and had to wait 30 minutes. The second room was missing a patio chair and also multiple broken items.
We also discovered that none of the rooms have microwaves but we figured that wasn’t a big deal because they say on their paperwork you can request one and they’ll bring it to your room. We requested a microwave roughly 10 different times through 3 different means (phone, front desk, room service) and NEVER got a microwave. We had to throw away a lot of food due to this.
THEN, the 2nd to last day the in-room refrigerator quit working! Yah! No fridge! We had roughly $60 of food saved in the fridge and it all went bad and also had to get thrown out. We lost a massive dollar amount in just food from all their screw ups.
Pool noise - literally a jackhammer going full blast near pool, louder than anything else, zero peace
Monday, April 15th: Asked for extra creamer and sugar and microwave. Called back twice at for update and still nothing.
Wednesday, told that due to renovations there is ZERO breakfast buffet, they completely closed it. Asked where the coffee Cafe was moved to and they told us it was now permanently closed due to renovations.
Wednesday, housekeeping skipped our room entirely.
Thursday, waited 30 minutes for housekeeping to do our room and finally housekeeper told us they would not enter our room and not provide any service. We had to argue to get fresh towels and a box of Kleenex. Outrageous... Checked the resort pamphlet & it says rooms will have beds made, fresh towels, and trash removal DAILY.
Thursday, zero poolside service. Front desk said they permanently cancelled poolside service for renovations. Had to entirely skip lunch and eat nothing.
Friday checkout. Assistant manager said head manager would call & implied that she'd be able to knock a significant amount of our cost off to compensate for their breach of service contract. No one ever called.
After weeks of calling we did finally receive a partial refund which amounted to roughly 50% of room cost. They refused to refund any of the “daily resort fees”. The partial refund was not enough for such outrageously horrible treatment.
Stay away from this place, don't risk being treated like this or ruining your trip. Just go...
