If I could give a zero I would. I have traveled all around the world and this is by far the worst hotel (more of a motel) that I have ever stayed at. For $300 a night I expected so much more. Firstly they changed the pet policy somewhere in between my date of booking and reservation date without any notification to me. Micheal the front desk man when we arrived also forgot to go over the pet policy with us upon arrival. This led to an immediate issue. My dogs have traveled around the country with me to many hotels and La Quintas especially since they are dog friendly and never received a complaint. Almost immediately Micheal started to complain about our dogs barking while they were vacuuming right out side our door (which also had a 1 inch unsealed gap under it). To add to the room we were put right next to the staircase upstairs which was extremely loud and heard EVERYONE stomping up and down the stairs at all hours of the day and night. We extended our trip one day in advance so the next morning we had to exchange keys due to different reservations. This led to us having to wait inside our room for 2.5 hours because they couldn’t get the room key to work. Later in the morning I received a call from Luke the general manager, we discussed the pet policy that was changed and long story short came to an agreement to work with each other during our stay. We also attempted to get a second room key only to be told we couldn’t because they didn’t have anymore to give. That same morning my wife and I were trying to clean up the room and figured we would change the bed sheets and exchange towels ourselves to make things easier with the dogs. We were initially told we couldn’t get clean sheets or towels because they were out of them. Later in the day while Micheal was working we asked for the towels and sheets that we weren’t able to get earlier and his initial response was “So, since you didn’t get them earlier it’s now my issue?” There was no issue just attempted to get towels and sheets. He proceeded to tell us we were terrible guests and that we now need to sign the pet policy (over 24 hours later). Which left my wife in tears in the main lobby in front of other guests. I told him I had a discussion Luke earlier in the day and we had an agreement about the pets. I then asked him to get the manager for me and he replied “You can find him yourself. I’m busy working”. Having Luke’s phone number already from the morning I gave him a call asking him to come to the front. Upon his arrival, Michael proceeded to raise his voice and yell things like “Fire me” “He’s not the manager” “He cheats on his wife” all in the main lobby of the hotel (I have a short video clip of the end of this interaction I can send upon request). After this interaction we unfortunately missed the whole New Years Eve celebration because of Micheal (which was the whole point of our trip). Luke finally gets us the bed sheets and towels we requested only to be covered in stains. This was a repeatable issue for the remained of our stay. No “clean” sheets or towels and when they were clean they were covered In stains. For the remainder of my trip I did nothing but worry Micheal was going to go in my room and sabotage my things or injure my pets. This is literally the worst traveling experience I have ever had.
I reached out to the new owners per the general manger Luke. They were sorry and forgiving. Unfortunately that didn’t change or make the situation any better. Luke was a great manager and has good intentions but this hotel needs A LOT of help. I’d strongly stay away...
Read moreThis will be my second review as the manager took down my previous review. This was the worst hotel stay imaginable...no hot water, no heat unless turned up to 85 degrees, no tv, no service. When we checked in at 530 last Friday evening(2/14) we were hoping for a nice, relaxing date night. I went to shower and there was no hot water. The manager said it was because the hotel was full and it may need time to “re-heat”. That was the first strike. We couldn’t get our fire place(only source of heat) to stay on unless the heat was turned up to 85. We decided to just leave and go to dinner, believing we would Have better luck when we came back. We came back around 10. No tv, no hot water and there was also no one working the desk or in the hotel period, with a full hotel you would think there would be someone. That was strike 2.We called the numbers hoping to get some assistance. I went to the front desk and there was a sign. The sign said “if you have a reservation, please come behind the desk and grab your receipt and room keys” . The receipts had guests full names and credit card information. That was strike 3With it being so cold in steamboat that night, all I wanted was a hot bath and a cozy night with my love. We Paid almost 300$ for this room and we were very disappointed to not be able to enjoy even the basic amenities of a “hot shower and basic cable”. We actually ended up leaving at 11 and going to a different hotel. When I called the next day to try to figure this out, the manager was very defensive and rude and refused to give my money back saying that we stayed more than half the night. I called and complained to corporate and they said they would deal with it. My advice. Just go somewhere else, I work with a vacation rental company and we would never let our guests pay money for something so unsatisfying. Steamboat has endless hotels, we will definitely look at different...
Read moreWe were only there for one night. At 8:00 in the morning on a Sunday, a construction crew started pounding on the outside of our room with a hammer and woke us up. The hammering on our wall continued until check-out.
Additionally, all 5 construction workers took turns looking into our room through our window until we shut the curtains. The hotel phone was broken, so I walked to the front desk to ask them to stop pounding on our wall with a hammer so early and stop looking in our room. (My wife and I had just finished working 3 consecutive 12-hour days, so we were exhausted). Our room was a corner room and had two sides. There was construction happening on 2 external sides of our hotel room, so we were surrounded by construction. They have no business selling this room with all the construction happening on it.
The workers told the front desk worker that they refused to stop the noise. Then the workers put a large Bose speaker directly outside of our window and started blasting music.
The front desk offered to move us in to a different room (at 8:00 am the same day we were checking out.) But the room they offered to put us in was 2 doors down from the room we were staying in. The pounding was going on just outside of that room as well.
The front desk gave me the phone number and email address of the hotel owner, so I left him a voicemail. He replied through text message and offered to sign me up for Wyndham Rewards program for my trouble staying in their hotel. What an absolute joke.
Construction on a hotel is one thing, but when it directly impacts the sleep and comfort of your hotel guests, that's another...
