STAY AWAY!!! We arrived tired at 10:16 PM. JoJo was at the desk. Grump! She asked me if the information on her check-in screen was correct I told her no and spelled my last name. She still didn’t get it right and then proceeded to sign in the signature line, my name, saying she needed to do that in order to check me in. I did not see any information she signed for. JoJo indicated she would leave a note indicating she signed for me. She didn’t know how to change my last name then why did she ask me? NO ELEVATOR, thankfully there were only two stories. Back door entrance did latch or lock. Hallway had not been vacuumed in some time. Lights out in the hallway. Decking on the backside had screws coming up. It hasn’t been painted or stained in years. A very unkept appearance. Weeds overtaking the landscape rocks.
The room YUCK! 🤢 All outdated furniture. Clearly old and unkept. See photos-The ceiling was water stained. Dresser falling apart. And then…..we found used tobacco pouches, 1 next to the bed and one at the foot of the bed on the floor. Clearly the cleaning was not done. In the morning, I did give the evidence to JoJo who was yawning at the desk. She didn’t say 1 word about it when I gave them to her and told her where they were found.
Breakfast was also 👎🏼 gravy for biscuits was like soup, no bowls for cereal, no pancake mix for their pancake maker, eggs watery and hard bagels. Very few tables in dining room and they were packed in there. Better want to share conversation with the next table. TVs do not work - no stations only fuzz, guess it didn’t matter they were small.
At check out Shack was at the desk. He was on his cell phone when I approached. He nodded and pointed to the container on the desk to put my keys. I needed a receipt and clearly was a bother to him as he put down his phone. He shuffled through some papers and handed me my receipt. WHOA! The receipt does not reflect the rate I was quoted!!! It was $80 more per night! Shack just stared at me when I brought it to his attention. “That’s the rate.” He stated. I asked to talk to the manager who was supposed to be there at 8am. It was 8:05, she was not there and I needed to make another commitment for the day. I asked for her to call. Shack just stared at me, no words, nothing. 13 hours and I still have not heard from her!
I will update when I hear. I have also reported this to CHOICE hotels.
No call from hotel manager so I called at 9:14 on Monday. I called. Shack tells me the manager, Carrie is not in. She is late he tells me. I ask for a return call. No return call from her so I call again at 3:46. Reagan answers and asks me many questions about the reservation. Puts me on hold for 21 minutes and never returns. 4:40 pm Carrie answers when I call. She tells me I am wrong about my rate and I should be grateful since I was “upgraded” at no charge. What!? The room we stayed in was a suite she tells me and I was not charged for the upgrade. If this was a suite I would pity those in a standard room. We talked about the repair needed at the facility. She tells me Harry the owner is coming in from TX tomorrow to make repairs. I have asked for a call from Harry since he is the only one who can make adjustments to room rates. Will update again as this continues.
I have attempted to talk to Harry on multiple occassions. I now have a total of 5 calls to him. Each time he has a reason he cannot speak at the time. The last was there was a three way call needed with Carrie. Excuses!
I HAVE RECIEVED MY CREDIT CARD BILL AND THEY CHARGED MORE THAN WHAT MY RECIEPT SAYS! NOT ONLY DID THEY LIE TO ME ABOUT THE RATE, THEY HAVE ADDED MONEY TO THE AMOUNT THEY CHARGED MY CARD. THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!
To date, despite Harry, the owner stating he will call me. He has not done so. He told me he would do a three way call with myself and the hotel manager, yet he has not called me back. Folks, I recommend staying away from this location!

My finance and I stayed at the Steamboat Quality Inn and Suites on Thurs and Friday nights (2/27/20 through 2/29/20) and we were disgusted. We were put into room 206 on Thursday evening and upon return from the ski slop Saturday afternoon, noticed there was a ton of black mold/ mildew growing on the ceiling in two separate spots above the window treatment and in an exterior corner. I am not normally one to complain but this was completely unacceptable. It was a huge collection of mold/mildew meaning the cleaning staff or anyone entering that room would have been sure to notice it and it was unacceptable to put any guests in there, let along charge them for staying in an unsafe room. To make matters worse, my fiancé is allergic to mold and was very congested and had a sore throat the next day.
When I called the front desk to explain the situation and ask if another room was available the women at the front desk was nice and quickly handled the situation. She met us upstairs and traded room keys so we could switch to another room for our second night. I was refunded $25 but I don't feel that is fair given that with all taxes and fees we still paid $304.65 for two nights, one of which was spent in an unsanitary and unsafe environment. In contacted the manager but they never responded to me so I decided to take my review public to protect others and their families. My fiancé and I both do a fair amount of business and personal travel domestically and internationally and have never come across a situation like this.

Read moreWe have been staying at the Quality Inn in Steamboat Springs regularly, for years. For the price, the hotel met expectation. Unfortunately, this last stay, we were treated horrible by, who we believe to be, the GM. Her manners were lacking, and her attitude was full of contempt and seriously lacked interpersonal skills. Walking on eggshells is putting it lightly. Days after our return, we were charged for an extra day. Upon calling the hotel, said individual answered the phone. I politely asked about my bill, assuming there was a reasonable explanation. This female, obviously struggling with something outside of work related duties, began shouting at me. She was yelling so loud, that the client waiting in my office heard her. She then hung up on the phone on me. I was shocked. I called Choice Hotel Group, who owns Quality Inn to inquire about the charged and also express my frustration and disappointment in the treatment I received and the unexpected charge. The charge, for the extra night we did not stay, remained on our bill. The hotel offered us points as a preferred member. That was it. No resolution, no refund, and no apology.
The Quality Inn was our go to in whatever place we were vacationing. We have been long-time guests. We have taken our business elsewhere. Worth it to spend the extra money in order to avoid an overcharge, poor treatment, and extreme discomfort. It is an unfortunate situation for everyone.
