This is the best RV park we have ever been.

The owners of Thousland Lakes RV Park are extremely friendly and helpful. They greeted us at the first night of arrival which contributed to a beautiful start to our long weekend getaway. The park in general has a very thoughtful layout. A green field in the middle of the park is surrounded by cabins, the tent sites and the RV parking lots. It resembles a meeting point and it is easy to make friends there (especially kids can roam around and play under the sight of their parents eyes). The pool is right next to it.

We stayed in a normal cabin over that weekend. Each cabin has its own fire pit, chairs&table inside as well as outside. The beds were comfortable and we had a beautiful view out of our back window.

The RV Park is meticulously clean and very well maintained. Visitors and staff are friendly and respectful. It was quiet at night even though plenty of kids were present during our visit. The RV park is conveniently close the national park, restaurants and a general store.

We have heard from friends complaining about WIFI which we personally did not use during our stay. The RV park offers Jeep rentals, a hair salon and a cute gift shop. We usually don't shop at gift shops but we found some beautiful things there (including a Christmas gift). I can highly recommend to visit the gift shop just because of the decorations, clothing and jewelry they sell there.

One improvement we can think of is the check-in process. Upon arrival, we have not received any information how the check-in procedure works. A recommendation here is, to send an info sheet along the confirmation email and put office/check-in hours on the website. The day of arrival, we tried to get a hold of the receptionist to receive more information about our check-in as we knew we would arrive after 10pm. We haven't heard anything back from them that day, neither via email or phone. Once we arrived, the reception was closed as expected. We found the trailer with the camp host who wasn't present and nobody answered the phone. After a while of looking around we saw little post-its with check in information on the door of the reception, so we could unlock the cabin...

"The customer is always right" is a saying the owner is not familiar with--nor does she or her manager Connie care. We've stayed in quite a few RV parks--but we've never encountered such a twosome that are supposedly in the 'hospitality" business. We booked in Feb for our June visit. We asked for a pull-thru because our Airstream can be difficult to back into a spot. Additionally we asked for a 50 amp spot. Both requirements were equally important to us --and we received an email confirmation that we have both. After driving 8 hours to reach them it was already dark when we arrived.Connie gave us a pull-thru, but with 30 amps for which we had no adaptor. She had given our reserved spot to someone else apparently. She also didn't offer an adaptor which was available in their store (it was closed by then but she had the key). By the time she offered us another spot with 50 amps but NOT a pull-thru -we had already unhitched and were too exhausted. The idea of switching to a back-up spot was hardly appealing! We made do without certain basics till the next day when my husband went to their store to purchase what was needed (an adaptor and a few other items) to function again. However we were incensed that no apology or even consideration had been extended. And although the rate to stay was certainly reasonable--we obviously received no credit for a less desireable spot.So we both went to the store to discuss this. But Connie was not able to admit she acted poorly--in fact she pushed back saying "I offered you that other spot!". She was so pugnacious that my husband lost his "cool". There were no other customers in the store --just another salesperson. I said let's go. The next day I hoped to discuss what happened with the owner. By then however--unbeknownst to me--Connie had lied and told her my husband came in and screamed at her in front of several customers in the store. The owner believed her apparently--because when I tried to speak with her she literally asked me "When are you leaving-today?"--when I said tomorrow--she answered "too bad" and showed me the door. When I told her I'll write this review she mocked me and gestured as if she shed...

We planned our trip and our stay based on distance and time to travel to/from each rv park in area. And this park had availability and fit how far we wanted to drive for the day. Let me tell you...we really found a gem with this place. Full hookups 20/30/50a, plenty of space between sites and for big rigs (ours is 40ft diesel pusher pulling a jeep). The sites are fairly lengthy and level, gravel and most have cottonwood trees between them. Wifi and cable TV are included. The traffic noise from hwy 24 was minimal due to being a couple of hundred yards away... we have not seen a park where the work campers are so quick and thorough to clean, rake and maintain the sites....within minutes, they are buzzing about to pick up any trash, clean firepits, make sure the breakers are off for the next rv. In addition, these guys keep the grass areas mowed and watered. The trees are trimmed, trash cans emptied, cabins cleaned and buildings, picnic tables, fences maintained and painted. There are multiple coin-op laundry rooms and shower rooms (I believe showers are free too, but didn't use) There is a pretty large and well appointed gift and souvenir shop, small convenience store and barbershop.... also, the Torrey BBQ restaurant is on site! Serving ribs, chicken, and steaks... you can smell the smoker everyday. There are several tent sites on sand/gravel with fences separating each. Also have firepit and picnic tables. There are multiple cabins (stated on signs at $45/night), full hookup, water/electric sites and no hookup sites. Also, this place has Jeep rentals available, and a pool! This place fills up nightly, so reserve if you want a site. The red cliffs, desert scenery and mountain views from here really makes this place really hard to pass up...highly recommended. My only disappointment was no cellular service for my carrier, however I did see others on phones, so may have...

The campground has a collection of full-hookup and water/electric sites, as well as several tent sites and two sets of cabins. They are generally fully booked in the early fall, so we had to settle for a water/electric site for our 8-day stay. We were located in the row at the back of the campground, which are back-in sites that are quite narrow: the picnic table and fire pit at each site are located at the back of the site because that’s the only place for them. On the other hand, we had great views of the red rock formations behind the campground. The office also doubles as a store which has a large gift shop, a wall of RV stuff, and a few shelves of snacks/convenience store items. There are bathrooms on the backside of the office building, as well as two other bath houses with bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Next to a large grassy play area there is a small heated swimming pool that’s designed for kids (or for adults content to soak for a bit). There is also a barbecue restaurant and hair salon on site, but both were closed during our stay (probably due to COVID). A small private RV repair shop is located next door to the campground. There’s no dog park, but there were plenty of places to walk our dogs. The cell service was decent. I saw download speeds around 30Mbps down and 5Mbps up with my Verizon Jetpack hotspot and MIMO antenna, enough to stream TV with rare stutters. Meanwhile, my AT&T cellphone was getting 26Mbps down and 3Mbps up. Torrey is a small town. There are a few restaurants, a gas station with a convenience store, and a large general store that has a few aisles of groceries. But it is the closest town to the main attractions in Capitol Reef National Park. You can also get on scenic byway 12 on the east end of town.

The staff, an older lady with the headset, needs to pick her battles and find an appropriate place to state her concerns(not corner customers in the bathroom!). I am a repeat “camper”. I have come to this location about once a year for years & referred people to this location. Today, after being advised by 1000 lakes to park in said location after checkout(to hike), I was cornered in the BATHROOM and harassed about having a group booking and parking where I was advised to park after checkout (off-season!). I was berated and cornered in the bathroom about parking in an empty (previously advised by another employee) parking location. I would NOT recommend this experience to any groups. I will not be renting my yearly+ cabin at this RV park & first-time RV rental at this location. There are other great places in the area. The staff/ management, the older lady with the headset, was very rude, inappropriate, aggressive about something that could have been explained in the parking location. Management should not corner guests, a single person, in a private bathroom to verbally attack about a very lucrative group booking. We pulled out of their overflow parking 3pm. Being courteous not to interrupt any business coming in… as seen in the empty parking lot as we pulled out.
