We spent a week touring Capitol Reef, and most afternoons we spent tasting beer, cider and meads at Etta Place. The proprietors, Ann Torrence and Richard Marc had clearly put a lot of energy, thought and effort into this lovely establishment. Their passion is cider and mead. With a nod to nearby Fruita, they planted their own apple orchard with 90 varieties and eventually started making cider. The selection is of ciders is great, and the meads are complex and interesting. But what we enjoyed most were their creative cocktails: new twists on old standards like the Etta Old Fashioned, an Apple Cider 75 and the Etta âRita. Each better than the last! âTravel with Rolandoâ and âAdventures with Bellaâ found the perfect stop at Etta Place Cider, nestled at the foot of Capitol Reef National Park. The service and hospitality were truly overwhelmingâin the best way possible! The hosts went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt welcomed and cared for.
After a full day of exploring and hiking the breathtaking red rock canyons, relaxing here with a crisp, handcrafted cider was the perfect way to end the day. The atmosphere, the views, and the kindness of the staff made this one of the most memorable Harvest Host stays on our journey.
Highly recommend Etta Place Cider to anyone traveling through southern Utahâitâs an experience you wonât forget!

The owner, Robert, served us and you can tell his passion for ciders from the get go. And now we understand more too! There is a plethora of cider options, some tending towards the flavor of a Meade, some more towards beer and of course - a beautiful, original, tart and fresh apple cider!
We both enjoyed the âPopularâ tasting, and a mix of the âRoseâ (they were out of one). But, as we tend to like a more chrisp and light flavors of cider, the âimperialâ was our joint favorite. (And we bought some to enjoy down the road!)
Indoor and outdoor seating and a cute gift shop complete the experience. We enjoyed the patio which looks right at the mountains, just past a quaint field of cattle.
