We decided to book at the bed and breakfast since I heard such great things about the winery. I was so excited! We decided to drive up Thursday and do our wine day Friday so we could miss most of the crowd. We arrived Thursday evening and were disappointed to find we were not met with a bottle of champagne as described in the listing. We looked past it and thought maybe it would show up the next day. I went to take a shower and there was only one towel. No wash cloths and no hand towels. We checked the fridge for breakfast to find no milk, and only one canned orange juice (which smelled spoiled when I later poured it). The breakfast items for a “bed and breakfast” were kind of laughable. I went to make a warm cup of tea to find there was also no sugar. At this point I decided to reach out to the contact number. They stated someone would be in touch. The bed and sheets were nice but the room fan made a very loud noise if you turned it above low. When we did not hear back by the next morning we reached out again since there was a sign posted in the bathroom that said reach out by 10am if you need the room refreshed or a refresh on the breakfast items. I notified them again of all the missing items that included breakfast items, drinks, champagne, wine glasses, sugar, and towels. I was told someone would get back to me. Again, after not hearing anything I called again at 5pm. We were finally brought towels and nothing else. When I spoke with the manager through text she apologized and stated she was out of town and someone was supposed to be covering. She stated we should visit the Winery in the morning at checkout to get our bottle of wine. When I informed her checkout was 10am and the winery was not open until 12p she simply stopped responding. I attempted once more in the morning to get in contact with someone for breakfast items and to ask what I was to do about the wine but was told someone would contact me and of course, they did not. I will say it is managed by a third party but it definitely dampened our experience. I received multiple messages and emails asking for my feedback. I got an email saying they would forward my review to the local team for contact and follow up but surprise I still have not...
Read moreHaving read the other reviews, my perspective seems different. ||I don't drink the coffee, eat the pastries or cereal or fear being isolated at night.||What a beautiful little cottage with reasonable mid-week pricing.||Check in was remotely handled, we arrived to find a lovely space, well appointed, a cold bottle of bubbly in the fridge and the biggest problem was too many pillows on the bed (joke).||It is far enough out of town for the stars to show from the back patio, and the feeling of being away from commercial kitsch of Fredricksburg was a big plus.||We travel a lot, so there are things that are important to us, the cottage provided, especially good quality soap and shampoo, lots of fluffy towels, extra pillows for the bed (after the throw pillows had been removed) and a good sized fridge for leftovers.||The only things we spotted that might have been a problem was the lack of ice or ice trays in the freezer and too many LED lights marring the dark, including the front door.||We would certainly choose it again for mid-week stays, as the price is very low for the quality, but the weekend rates are a little on the high...
Read moreAfter staying at the Messina Hof Villa in Bryan this was a real disappointment. We added a night and the first cabin Messina, we stayed look great at first but then you realize there’s no hot breakfast- twice the price and boxed dry cereal, Tropicana OJ, and some dry croissants are provided. Kurieg make your own pods - really- The bed needs work every time I moved there was a creaking noise that woke both of us up repeatedly thru the night. The second 2 nights we were in the Hof cabin. This cabin offered a big sweet roll and cold cereal and a real coffee grinding pot. Needless to say we went and got our own breakfast food. |Bigger issue is showers in these cabins. They are designed flush with the floor and with a polished concrete floor are really slippery when wet. Lack of details and crappy stuff just doesn’t make this worth the price. The blinds were broken and the sink was slow to drain. Lack of restaurant associated with the cabins and being 10miles from town makes this a undesirable...
