We took a girls trip to Fredericksburg and stayed in the Plum cabin at Mendelbaum Winery. We were outside on the porch the second night enjoying the evening when a gentleman approached us. The very first words out of his mouth were to ask who was all staying in the cabin. We told him all five us. He then asked if our reservation stated five. We told him yes it did. Since we were obviously confused by the questioning he then informed us he was the owner of the property and needed to know this information for insurance purposes. He did not provide his name, did not ask if we were enjoying our stay and did not tell us to have a good evening as he walked off. This individual was part of a large gathering/party that was taking place in the picnic area near our cabin. We had been sitting outside for a good two hours before he decided to come over and approach us. He did not approach either cabin on the side us and ask those individuals (white people) about their occupancy. He approached our cabin because four of us were Hispanic. I have never rented a hotel room, home, cabin, or any other lodging where someone has come to verify occupancy for insurance purposes. His actions were definitely racially motivated. I would never stay at Mendelbaum Winery again nor would I recommend this place to...
Read moreGoing for a girls weekend to celebrate my best friends birthday. We book a enchanted cabin, or we thought. Upon arrival the patio handles we’re moving which isn’t safe. Then we walk in and notice the dinginess and old fixtures that are in the cabin. The loft upstairs showed a bed online. But there was a Airmattress in its place. The loft is about 3 ft in height we had to crawl on our knees to move around. Then we look at the bedroom with had a full bed instead of the twin listed. The bath tub has chipped paint along the tub bottom and made it look dirty. I immediately contacted vacasa who is in charge of the property. She seemed more concern with the cleanliness than the deceived description. Texted back and forth in regards to other availability and no luck. We began looking for other places are self and everything was booked. So we had to sleep in the awful accommodations that were left. The couch pull out bed was hard and every metal spring was felt.
During the night we heard a animal eating something that sounded like plastic. This freaked us all out and didn’t allow us to even get sleep. This is not...
Read moreEverything about Mendelbaum Cabins surpassed my expectations from the moment we arrived. The property manager was highly responsive and the cabin was well equipped. My husband and I stayed there with our children. As soon as we got up every morning, the kids ran to the playscape while my husband and I enjoyed coffee on the porch. At night, we roasted hot dogs and s'mores by the fire pit and stared up at the stars. It felt like we were far away from it all. (I also highly recommend you check out Mendelbaum Cellars (the winery adjacent). We got some excellent wine to enjoy during our stay.)
Our family enjoys outdoor activities and during our visit we spent a day at Pedernales State Park and a day at Enchanted Rock. The cabin was only 30 minutes from each, so it was a perfect location. It's also situated right along the wine trail within minutes of some of my favorite wineries. It was a great family vacation, but I also plan to return for a couples weekend with my hubby or enjoy a girls weekend. The cabins are suitable for any occasion. We can't...
