We visited Inwood Winery during a wine tour. After tasting 3 samples we were ushered into the bistro. When we arrived at the counter we encountered 2 beautiful trays full of meats, cheeses and fruit. Each item had toothpicks for sanitation purposes and several napkins next to them as well.
We took a few few samples when a woman behind the counter began screaming. “Excuse me! Is that yours!?” Clearly mortified and beyond embarrassed, we learned that the trays were actually not samples but trays that another couple had purchased. We apologized up and down for our error and tried to explain what we thought happened (we’ve been on several tours and there’s always been one on the tour to provide snacks). The woman continued to shame and yell as we continued to apologize. She shooed us away with our tails essentially between on legs.
Another member on the tour continued to browse the area where the woman continued to complain aloud to herself and others. After several minutes the tour members had to tell ask her to calm down as it was obviously a mistake and we were clearly hurt and embarrassed. At that, she finally stopped talking.
My mother ended up going to the other side of the bistro to apologize when another employee mentioned that she’d meant to put up a sign. Clearly this was not the first instance of this mistake. But the woman was so incredibly rude and hateful that it completely ruined our experience of this winery.
Unfortunately, we will not be back. The wine itself was great but the experience has been tainted by the two women. The second was not rude in any way but it would have been comforting to at least have apologized for behalf of their...
Read moreWe went here as part of the 290 Wine Tour and were highly disappointed in the service at the restaurant. The wine tasting was great, but we planned on grabbing lunch here and the server at the wine bar directed us to the restaurant area. We were greeted by the waitress who said she wasn’t sure she could seat us and walked to the back and came back to tell us we could not be served because they were expecting a big group. We asked if we could grab a prepackaged box of cheeses and fruit & eat out in the patio area and she said that would work. We sat outside snacking on what seemed like thinly sliced spam and old cheeses that had been boxed. As we sat there another group from the 290 tour sat at a patio table next to us. The waitress immediately came out and offered them menus and took drink orders!! She then took all of their meal orders - as we were sitting there - snacking on old cheese bc she refused to serve our group. Not sure why, but if I have ever felt discriminated against in my entire life - this would be the one and only time.
The owner was out asking different groups how their service was, so my sister grabbed his attention and explained what had just happened. He gave a circle of no true explanation as to why we weren’t served.
By far the most unpleasant experience we...
Read moreThe ladies who greeted us were nice and very attentive. The bottle of Tannat I bought was great as I'm searching all the Tannats in Texas and collecting them and so it's a great way to show the world that Texas has some great wines and Inwood is one of the wineries that sell Tannat...
Here is my one perhaps innocuous complaint: We reserved a Wine education class and were placed in with another group. We got to the bar and everyone else was served but it was like we were forgotten until the educator realized the mistake...no harm, no foul...a bit upset but not a biggie...he goes on to teach us about wine, then starts coughing takes off his mask and then starts going on a tangent about masks' effectiveness on covid19, coughing, etc...our thought, was "what does that have to do with wine?" Stick to your job, don't use that as a moment to rant...we take a lot of precautions about this pandemic and the wineries and restaurants we went through were great at following protocol...after all businesses depend on it...but this educator just was a jerk about it...
Other than this, we love the wine but were a bit taken aback by that tangent that has nothing to do with wines...follow the rules, you're a representative of the winery and your representation helps...
