Good things and bad things-
Good things, normal expectations:
-Quiet -A/C worked well, however the light from the setting on it is super bright. -Hot water quick and consistent (I could hear a hot water recirculator running. Not a bad thing, gentile hum.) -Convenient location. -Breakfast was okay, pretty standard Continental Breakfast.
Bad Things, things out of the ordinary or beyond:
During my family's three night stay:
Night 1:
Original key cards stop working. Leaving my 3 year old, 9 year old and wife in the upstairs hall while I go and get them replaced. Annoying that late at night but things happen. I get it.
Night 2:
We get back from visiting family and I go in to take a shower. I finish up, and my wife goes in right after me to use the toilet. While sitting there she yells at me if I had invited any guests. I reply 'no' and 'why?'. Cockroach. Not a small one either.
We call the front desk to have the situation addressed, their solution? Send a security guard to smash it against the bathroom door.
Uh, okay.
Night 3:
Last night, we get back late and guess what? Keys don't work again. Very annoying at this point. Go down to the desk, get new keys. Go back to the room and guess what? Keys don't work. Brand new set of keys.
Now what I didn't mention until now is that each time -I- was blamed for doing something wrong with the keys. Placed them near a phone or Bluetooth or -something-. It was my fault.
Huh, okay. Strong doubt, I worked in property management using the same devices for 6 years but whatever, not only am I the problem but I'm an idiot too. I'll call and talk to a supervisor about this later.
Postscript:
I called and spoke to a supervisor, Renee, if I recall, about my main concerns - the keys and the cockroach and hey hey! 'I'm wrong' and 'I'm an idiot' extends up to the supervisor.
It was my fault for placing the card key in wallet with other RFID cards or too near my cell phone or earbuds or whatever. Never had this happen anywhere else.
Oh, and that cockroach? No, it was a Water bug according to her. I didn't mention i took a picture of it but it played right into the -im an idiot- hand they were stacking for me. I lived in Fresno for 28 years, Renee. I know the difference between a 'water bug' and a cockroach.
It's a Turkistan or American roach by the way, and 'water bug' is a common name for an Oriental roach.
Zero concessions offered after providing them this information so my complete and honest review is my response.

This is a half-hearted renovation of an old motel that gets a few showy things right and most everything else wrong.
My young daughter and I checked in about midnight. We were staying with other people, and to my surprise they were in "another building," which is strange for a hotel. But what this property is is a 40s or 50s vintage smattering of buildings scattered across a large property, motel style. We were in a separate building from the rest of our party. My expectation in a hotel is that it's one building or a couple of towers connected together inside. because it was late and raining, that meant we could not spend any time with the remainder of our party that night.
But, really so what. We get to the room and the floor is ice cold. It's a first floor room with new laminate flooring which looks nice and is in good condition. However, someone clearly laid the flooring directly on the slab. In late November, that means the floor is cold as heck. So was the room. The heater was not updated or upgraded from the old motel, and had a setting of low heat and a setting of high heat, which were indistinguishable from one another. That was fine for the first two hours, which is what it took to warm the room up enough to sleep. But by 4 am the room was sweltering. It woke me up and I had to turn on the cold and prop the door open for a while to get the room to be marginally comfortable. Needless to say I slept poorly.
Then I used the shower on the morning. The new shower had fancy new tile, but no one had thought to provide a usable shelf in there. Worse, the little tiny lip on the bottom barely restrained the water inside. And, in trying to adjust the water temperature, the cheapjack showerhead sprayed little jets of water every which way, including all over the toilet.
Oh yes, I can't forget the obvious failure of the security lock in the little 10 room pod of the motel. There was a card reader but it didn't work, and there was a huge gap between the door and the frame so anyone could just walk in. Not great in Fresno when I have my young daughter with me.
It's almost an afterthought that there's no ice machine anywhere.
Wish they had spent the reno $$$ making the room more comfortable rather than more instagrammable. I'd rather get a good night's sleep in a comfortable room than have a faux fancy one. Next time I'll pass...
Read moreI wish that I could recommend this place. Unfortunately when we went it was a disaster. I do want to say it looks amazing when you first pull up. Definitely a good first impression. It was a late check in. We did check in with no problems.
We got to our room and oh my. The room was extremely dated. Musty smelling and very old worn carpet. It did feel like we were checking into a deteriorating retirement center. So we pulled out our trusty black light test because our little was sleeping in these beds. That was a mistake. It was disgusting. The walls were disturbing to say the very least. As was the carpet and furniture. To the point I made my family wear shoes oru slippers in the room. The beds did pass inspection. The room was very hot when we got there so I tried to turn the air on and that was a joke. I called the front desk and they told me it takes 15 min to turn on but only after I do some fancy button tricks just to test and see "if" it will come on. 20 minutes later... Still nothing, not even a slow breeze. I called back and they said they would come take a look. It is now 12 am and we are tired from a long day of travel. She attempts to turn it on and realizes... it doesn't work. Who would have known. 🤦🏻♀️ She then tells us she will check a couple rooms out to see if the air is to our liking or "good enough" as if we had air in the first place to compare. Now it's 12:45 am and she wants us to move rooms. Not a pleasant experience when you have to get littles up and move them as well as being exhausted ourselves. Finally the air is working. But our outlets are not. So we were unable to charge anything unless we put it in the bathroom. The price was fair but still Motel 6 would have been a better option. I suggest asking to see the room prior to accepting the room. As goodness knows what you will get.
I didn't share all the pics as there were just too many. And if you notice all the fun urine lined walls & goodness knows what that came...
