I'm a Wyndham Rewards member. I made a reservation ahead of time and made sure the representative knew that my son and I would be arriving very very late, checking in around 1:30 am. He said that would be fine and our room would be ready. Grants, New Mexico is pretty much out in the middle of no-where. The few other hotels off that exit were already booked solid, which is why I made sure with the representative that we would have a room when we arrived. We arrive and the clerk tells me they don't have any vacancy. I let her know I had a reservation and she said they didn't have any rooms. I show her my email confirmation for the reservation and she said they don't have any rooms, that they gave my room away. I asked how this happened and she said they gave it to someone else that arrived before us. I told her that I informed them at the time I made the reservation that I would have a late check-in and was assured that would be fine. She was not apologetic and even said, "I just started my shift and there's nothing I can do. We don't have any clean rooms available" I was dumb-struck. I told her that I want something in writing that my credit card was not going to be billed. She refused. I asked if she could write down her name and make a note that I was there and was not given a room. She refused. I wrote down my reservation confirmation number, name and phone number giving it to her so her manager could call me if they find in their system that I would be billed. I was hoping the manager would call to discuss the matter, but I didn't receive a call. My reservation was for April 28th. Today is May 1st. Thankfully nothing is showing on my credit card. It was the middle of the night. No other hotels had availability so my son and I were stuck. The plan was to stay at the hotel, wake up in the morning and get gas at the gas station across the street (the only one around). We were on empty with just 23 miles range remaining. We couldn't stay at the hotel and needed to hit the interstate to try and find something, but we were on empty. The gas station across the street was closed due to the late time it was. There's nothing around Grants NM. We just drove and hoped for the best. Cell signal wasn't available so we couldn't even look up where the nearest gas station was. Before leaving Days Inn I asked the clerk where a gas station was. Dumbly she asked "One that is open?" Of course! She directed me to one called "Alsup" she said was about 7 minutes away (in the opposite direction) that was open. I was concerned since going the wrong way and using up precious miles would be a risk. We drove there, BUT THEY WERE CLOSED. To sum up, we got back on I-40, found a gas station (but no hotel) and ended up driving through the night. The clerk didn't care, showed no empathy, didn't offer any apology. I will avoid Wyndham properties and don't plan to stay at...
Read moreI've stayed here two different times for 5 days each. Nothing is disastrously wrong with the place, but there is enough inconvenience to make it unpleasant.
The good:
Decently spacious rooms, including a small table and a pretty large desk.
Large selection of TV channels.
Lots of space to hang shirts and jackets. Not many hangers, but lots of space.
The bad:
First off, my room did not have a smoke detector. It had a spot and a mount for one, but it looks like it was removed a good bit ago and never replaced. I don't know if that breaks some kind of code, but it may be a bit unsettling.
Secondly, I never had a "do not disturb" sign to put on my door. As I was working overnights for both my stays and sleeping during the day, I would be woken up about twice a week by housekeeping. They even opened my door once because I guess they didn't hear me say "no thank you".
As for coffee, there are two disposable regular bags and two disposable decaf bags, but no tray in the coffee maker to hold these bags. I could clearly see on the coffee maker where this tray slides in to allow water to pour over the bags, but the tray was nowhere to be found.
I also had 3 different key cards stop functioning. To be fair, this only happened on my second stay, and never on my first. I always keep my key card in an empty pocket to avoid damage to it. But in 5 days, I needed 3 replacement key cards, some on the same day.
The bathroom was pretty dirty. It was very apparent that nobody cleans the floor around the toilet, and hasn't for quite a while. The shower was also dingy, with the non-slip coating on the bottom coming off.
The turn table in the microwave didn't turn. I could hear it trying to, but it never did. Had the manually turn my food half way thru cooking to get it to hear evenly.
All in all, I am not looking forward to my...
Read moreAfter several attempts to contact and receive a call back from Days Inn in Grants, NM from the Manager/owner without any luck I'm able to write this post. My family attempted to stay at the DAYS INN in Grants, NM because I said it would be nice (wrong) they paid for 4 rooms not 1 but 4 and for 3 nights, upon arriving and checking in they discovered that their room had bugs and hair on the sheets and bed. The door had been kicked in and was not secure enough for them to feel safe. They brought this to the attention of the front desk and asked for their money back they were told that because they booked through priceline they would have to get the money back from them. They did just that and priceline said that DAYS INN had to release the payment. They refused. So here we are $300 and some odd dollars later they decide to pull a policy that doesn't even make any sense. So usually I would think if you eat the steak you pay for it but if it's not what your paying for you don't eat it and you send it back and either you don't pay for or they make it right. Mostly they make it right and I mean right like make sure the customer is made whole. NOT AT THIS PLACE. After going in and trying to talk to the assistant manager who had no people skills and I was treated with total disregard to the situation I decided I would write this post to warn future customers of the unprofessional, unsanitary, unsafe unfair business that is being run in Grants. I know that many events will be taking place here soon weddings, Graduations, Proms and other celebrations so PLEASE DO NOT DO NOT STAY at DAYS Inn in Grants and if the other hotels that are owned and operated by the same management that this one is associated with beware of the possible outcome of your stay!!!
